[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135400] New: [FILESAVE] Saving as xlsx (2007-365) would bring ~50 white rectangles putting at position (0, 0)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135400 Bug ID: 135400 Summary: [FILESAVE] Saving as xlsx (2007-365) would bring ~50 white rectangles putting at position (0,0) Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.6.7.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: frank...@goodhorse.idv.tw Description: Reported by users. The attached sample files is an xlsx generated by Microsoft Excel (unknown version). When opening it with LibreOffice it was okay. Then save it back with xlsx format, close and reopen it, there will be a lot of white rectangles putting at position (0,0) with name "CustomShape1". Those rectangles can be dragged (moved) and deleted. After deleting all the rectangles and save the file again it will be okay. * Saving as xls (97-2003) will not produce the rectangles. * Saving as ods will not produce the rectangles. * Saving as xls/ods THEN saving as xlsx (2007-) *will* produce the rectangles. So far only this sample file will have this behavior. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the attached xlsx file 2. Save as another xlsx (2007-) file (to avoid overwriting the original one) 3. Open the saved new file 4. A lot of rectangles will appear. Actual Results: ~50 white rectangles will appear in the position (0,0) Expected Results: rectangles shouldn't be there Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: The earliest version I tested was 版本 3.6.7.2 (組建 ID:e183d5b) so it seems to be a bug inherited from OOo. 7.0 alpha1 can reproduce this behavior. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135373] It is impossible to move text blocks independently of the Headings that they're underneath
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135373 --- Comment #2 from Cougar Brenneman --- I'm going to give you a nonfictional use case that happened multiple times at Fujitsu Software, 1998 through 2000 — two full years. I'm sitting in a developer brainstorming session, writing about ideas that I don't understand using jargon that I don't understand, taking notes in shorthand at break neck speed. Two hours later, I take my 50 pages of notes to my cubicle and I type them into Word — all in text format. To me it's all gibberish at this point. I'm using the MS Word outliner. Once my notes are all typed, I go back to the beginning and create half a dozen blank Heading 5 lines at the top. Then I start to read my lines that I've typed from shorthand. When I notice that several lines of notes are connected, I grab the button at the front of the line, and I drag it up under one of the headings. I write a word or phrase in the Heading 5, and I collapse it. Eventually, all my notes are collapsed inside of Heading 5 titles. I go to the top of the document, and I create empty Heading 4 lines. I'm beginning to understand the document information from the meeting. I read through all of my Heading 5 titles, and when two of them seem related, I drag them up to the empty Heading 4s. When everything is fully organized in this fashion, I'll uncollapse the first section of the document, and using the buttons at the front of the line, I rearranged all the ideas by dragging and dropping them. Sometimes I even take them elsewhere in the document to drop them. At the end of the week or two, I have an Agile document that is useful for both the code architect and each of the members of the team, and they can produce a coherent product from my organized and rewritten notes. Any outliner that doesn't to do this is useless to me. This functionality gives me superpowers, whether I'm writing an Agile document for a team of Java coders, or novel, or a poem, or an article from magazine. I could give you hundreds of nonfictional use cases from my experience alone. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

So please > enable experimental fatures in Tools => Options => LibreOffice => Advanced Thank you, Deiter. Does it solve my problem? Mostly. Finding the most recent version and installing it by following the enclosed "readme" was easy. Yes, one has to enable experimental features. One also has to go to "Tools => Options => LibreOfficeDev Writer => View" and enable "Show outline content visibility button." Then, yes, one can see and test the feature. (Users who've been following the bug will know that the feature involves different levels of headings and text, and not the sort of outline one gets from "Bullets and numbering.") My one remaining question concerns how a user is to keep the "most recent version" up to date. Does "Tools => Options => LibreOfficeDev => Online Update => Every day" see to that? Is one then automatically informed of new builds? Is the process of updating automatic? Or does one have to do something further? Thank you very much again, Deiter, for your help. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Scrolling through this document froze the application for multiple seconds, as well as freezing other LibreOffice application instances.
