https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=113104 --- Comment #26 from Michael Meeks --- Telesto - thanks for the profile - is there any more to the profile ? I'd love to see lower down - and also where the other 50% of the CPU goes (only half of it goes down that path). It -looks- as if we're trying to do a synchronous screen update via some ancient code-path, when we should really do an idle refresh - outside of the event processing, so that we can skip frames if we can't keep up rather than re-rendering on each one. I suspect there is a 2x from rendering each frame twice there too. Anyone else willing to run the instrumentation & look into the profile a bit more - much appreciated. I would suggest that DrawAfterScroll is just bogus: source/ui/view/gridwin3.cxx:void ScGridWindow::DrawAfterScroll() source/ui/view/gridwin3.cxx-{ source/ui/view/gridwin3.cxx-PaintImmediately(); // always, so the behaviour with and without DrawingLayer is the same source/ui/view/gridwin3.cxx- Looks very dodgy to me - if you're compiling; no-op. that method, or just call Window::Invalidate() instead on Mac and see if it fixes it. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135508] New: Relative linked text sections aren't automatically read on document opening
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135508 Bug ID: 135508 Summary: Relative linked text sections aren't automatically read on document opening Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.4.5.2 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: l...@hushmail.com Description: Adding text from documents inside other documents is a very handy feature in LibreOffice Writer - e.g. when creating a huge amount of documents with frequently repeating descriptions to basic subjects. For the reason that LibreOffice Writer can handle relative paths it is even possible to insert all sourcing documents along the main documents and move the resident folder to other places and even send the documents to other persons e.g. as downloaded zip-folder. However, LibreOffice Writer always ask the user to update the document for the latest state of the linked source-documents during opening of documents with one or more text-sections. This is in my most arrogant opinion not the way text-sections should work and very frustrating for users which have to (re-)open several documents a day. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a document 2. Link one or several source documents as Sections inside the newly created document 3. Close the document and re-open it 4. A text-message will appear ask you "The Document filename contains one or more links to external data. Would you like to change the document and update..." 5.1 you chose "Yes" and the document will update to the latest versions of the source files 5.2 you chose "No" and the document will show its text-sections as the latest saved state Actual Results: LibreOffice Writer always ask for users advice for handling text-sections inside documents on every opening of documents that include them. LibreOffice only updates text-sections on users request. Expected Results: LibreOffice Writer should always read the latest and greatest version of sourced text-documents and automatically include corresponding text inside the opening document. For all: Text can always be inserted statically on creation time be using Insert >> Text from file... Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Btw. LibreOffice Writer will never ask the user for updating audio files or images but always include the latest version of a linked file, as they may changed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=124992 Julien Nabet changed: What|Removed |Added CC||serval2...@yahoo.fr --- Comment #2 from Julien Nabet --- I don't understand the reasoning here. LO is only 282MB, so 150MB for the whole/all languages helpcontent corresponds to 50% of LO size, it's not nothing. I think if you download Spanish localization of LO for example, it should just propose by default Spanish help. If you want Italian help, you should just use the LO setup to check the Italian helpcontent checkbox so it would indicate to LO to download the package and install it. (I don't know if this mechanism exist but it would be useful). I'd like to avoid LO becoming a bloatware, I mean we could also just propose one package per env (Windows, Linux, MacOs, Android, etc.)/ version instead of one package per env/version/language and would have even bigger packages. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

We've established that many moons ago ;-) And yes, of course it works great on an old MacBook Air because the problem only arises on high-resolution Retina displays, not on low-resolution standard displays where LibreOffice continues to run perfectly fine and smooth. Unfortunately, Apple stopped selling low-resolution low-DPI iMacs in 2013, low-resolution low-DPI MacBook Pros in 2012, and low-resolution low-DPI MacBook Airs in 2018. Their last product with a low-resolution low-DPI display, the 2017 MacBook Air, was discontinued with the introduction of the 2018 Retina MacBook Air more than two years ago. > And about developers; MacOS edition is a kind of a side-project. Show another infobar which provide a link to a dedicated website about how to choose UI or may be show the page directly after user launch LibO at first start as Mike Saunder suggested 3. Show the dialog in the startup (or i.e. in fresh new user profile) as Pedro, Andreas, John and me suggested 4. Show an extra UI chooser dialog in the installer as we target Windows user only as Italo suggested The first choice has a clear question: do user really read ToTD message or even they disable it at first appearance? I have no clue about what majority user do, but me the latest (since I can show it later again via Help > Tips of The Day). May be we need a poll for this case. For second choice we should consider user with no Internet connection at all, or may be we can set the page locally? But providing another infobar would make LibO too bloated as we have already add a button for release note link. For third choice Pedro already said his comment the pro and cons but at least the neeeded for creating another dialog already in progress. For fourth choice we should consider may be in the future this traditional installation method will less relevant as the trend now clearly show many tech giant including MSFT actively suggest the developers two join in software store game. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70659] Ukrainian dictionary is preselected in Russian locale
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70659 --- Comment #11 from Julien Nabet --- (In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #10) > I would say that we should, to the contrary, simply install all languages > (UI and dictionaries), and remove the choice altogether. The only problem > here would be possible performance penalty, which should then be fixed > properly, so that installed language modules don't harm performance. It seems the same as opt-in/opt-out options for websites. Personally, I prefer opt-in instead of being forced to uncheck manually every element we don't want. > > Many people struggle installing dictionaries; they even don't know they > should re-run installer and use advanced installation, and instead install > extensions (which often gives them older dictionaries and/or problems). So in fact the real pb is the install process of additional dictionaries. The opt-out/install everything process is a workaround of this install process pb. > Having all bundled dictionaries installed is no worse than having all DLLs > installed (which was always the case); and "We do not need that junk on > their machines" is not an argument, because the increased space requirement > is not significant for current standards, while gain for inexperienced users > might be big. > ... It's not because SSD can contain several To that LO should become a kind of bloatware. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135506] New: Relative paths are shown as absolute paths
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135506 Bug ID: 135506 Summary: Relative paths are shown as absolute paths Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.4.5.2 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: l...@hushmail.com Description: After reading several bug-reports related to this topic and testing did I found out that LibreOffice Writer is very capable to handle links relative to the main file. If chosen in the options, all links inside the document itself are actually written as relative paths in the content.xml file inside the zipped document container. Also creating several files inside a folder, link them together as relative links and then move the folder along the file-system does work for me. However - and that is certainly what most users confuse is that all relative links are shown as absolute paths inside the UI e.g. under Format > Sections... or Navigator > Images. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Make sure Options > Load/Save > General > Save URLs relative to file system is enabled 2. Create a new folder 3. Create a new document and add images, audio files and text files to the just created folder 4. Link the images, audio files and text files to the new document 5. Check the links ---> they are shown as absolute paths 6. Close the document and move the folder around the file-system 7. Re-open the document, all content is shown correctly 8. Re-check the links ---> they are updated correctly but still shown as absolute paths Actual Results: Relative linked files are wrongly shown as absolute paths Creating a relative path inside the path field is not possible Expected Results: Relative links should actually shown as relative paths Users should be able to create relative and absolute paths corresponding the syntax inside the path field e.g. "C:\User\Documents\Frontpage.odt" and "Subfolder\Frontpage.odt" Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: Bug 86785 already informs about this behaver in later comments. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
