[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100479] Searching text in a large document using the "Find all" button makes LibreOffice Writer unresponsive (freeze) for minutes

2021-03-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I must add that as long as the "Find Next" button is used instead, this bug is
not a deal breaker.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 141240] Author Name and Date on Comments Are Half-Way Cut Off/Not Fully Displayed

2021-03-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141240

I have scaling set at 150% (recommended by Windows) and am using a 4k monitor
(3840x2160 resolution). I changed the scaling to 100%, but the problem remains
the same. Additionally, I tried 125% and 175% and got the same problem.

I also tried LibreOffice version 7.1.2.1 and have the same problem.

Finally, I tried 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ and do not have the problem any more. With
this version, the author name and date/time stamp on comments display fully.

Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: a025ac482a8d21a517bbc2ef0ef2177dd6351689
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19041; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

If whatever relevant changes were made to the 7.2 alpha get included in the
release, then this problem should be resolved. Looking forward to it!

Steps to reproduce:
1.- Open Sample Document
2.- Search for "ARTICULO 142"

Actual Results:
CPU highly loaded and LibreOffice Writer hung for some time before string is
found.

Expected Results:
String is found in a few seconds.

This is a deal breaker for users who work with large documents frequently. Is
it possible for you to consider revising this bug's importance to reflect that
please?

There is a distinction to be made between "scrolling" actions of PgDn/PgUp and
the full page cursor focus movements implemented for bug 105776

PgDn/PgUp will reposition the document canvas view port based on os/DE
configuration, similar to the single line scroll movments of the Down/Up
cursors.

There is no need to touch that as for bug 105776 (and dupes) we've provided
functional full page focus movements without disrupting the PgDn/PgUp scroll
controls which vary widely depending on os/DE, and which correcting by LO is of
questionable utility.

OS: All

When you have two or more Writer processes running, if you have two Writer
windows showing two documents with different Paragraph Styles and you have
enabled "Styles" tool bar (F11), you will see the current Styles of the active
Writer window in the Styles preview panel. Every time you switch from one
Writer window to the other, bot Styles preview changes simultaneously, showing
in both the selected Writer window styles.

2021-03-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81829

V Suart Foote marked my report 141249 as a duplicate of this, which, although
it is related, it is not.

He said "Specific scope of the movement is os/DE dependent, and current zoom
level of document canvas.

And as with dupe, this remains => WF and would waste dev effort for "taming"
the variability by os."

First, the exact same behaviour occurs on a Macbook Pro running Mojave 10.14.6
(18G8022), so this is NOT OS dependent, it is inherent in LO Writer. It is a LO
bug which should at least be investigated. If it is not reasonably possible to
put it right that is a different matter, but this issue can be found referred
to many times across the internet (though often poorly described). This is
behaviour which a reasonable user should not expect to experience, and is not
found in other comparable pieces of software, which behave as expected.

Second, making the software behave in the way which experienced IT users
reasonably expect is not, and cannot be, a waste of 'dev effort'.

But I appreciate the huge amount of resources which have been invested over
many years by many IT professionals in developing LO and its predecessors and
constituent parts - thank you to all of you.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140939] Proposal to improve the index function in Writer.

2021-03-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140939

What I would like to have, it's a lexical index for proper names and a lexical
index for notions and concepts. Presently, this is impossible because there can
only be one lexical index.
For example :

Index of proper names
Abdou Diouf 23, 398
Académie d’Études Économiques de Bucarest 46, 74
Académie Européenne de Bozen/Bolzano74
Académie française 429
ACAREF (Académie Africaine de Recherche et d'Etudes Francophones) 51, 79,
402
Afghanistan 140
...

Index of notions
Multilingualism 9, 13, 65
Identity 25,42, 87
Soft power 101,125
...

Lexical index and costum index don't work in the same way at all.
Lexical index is alphabetical, as costum index follows order of entries and
pages.
What would be really useful is to be able to create more than one lexical
index.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today + gen or gtk3 rendering,
I don't reproduce this but perhaps I missed something.

I created a brand new odb file (embedded hsqldb) + a table with wizard + a form
with wizard too.
Then I added a push button.
I right clicked the button and chose "Control properties", in "label" field, I
added an "~" in front of "Push button", then clicked in another field, no
crash.

OK, on Windows 10 64-bit (1909) box, setting WDM "Custom scaling" to 250%, with
Skia or default GDI rendering, adding a comment to Writer with a 7.0.5 or 7.1.1
build results in the name and date of the comment being clipped as in OP.

Version: 7.1.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fe0b08f4af1bacafe4c7ecc87ce55bb426164676
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

but then with recent nightly against 7.2.0 on the same system scaled to 250%, I
don't get the clipping.

Version: 7.2.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: bdbb5d0389642c0d445b5779fe2a18fda3e4a4d4
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18363; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US

So, fixed?

I can reproduce this with gtk3 and gen rendering.
I didn't see anything wrong in console logs.

Code pointer:
sfx2/uiconfig/ui/linkeditdialog.ui
sfx2/source/appl/impldde.cxx

To reproduce this:
- type this in a cell
=DDE("soffice";"c:\office\document\data1.ods";"sheet1.A1")
- select cell then Edit/Link to External Files...
- click "Modify..." button

I don't know what's the pb here, can't help=>uncc myself.

I have a database with several tables. I have created forms to work with them.
The forms have a button to close it when I click on it. This works.

I wanted to add a keyboard shortcut to these buttons. The documentation I could
find says to add a tilde (~) in front of the character I want. I can type the
tilde, but as soon as I leave the label field (pressing Tab or closing the
dialog by mouse) Base crashes.

In a test environment (VM with Win7, JRE 1.8.0_281, LibO 6.4.7.2) this works as
expected.

Hi Bogdan. Let's wait a few more days because I'm trying to figure out a
sequence of steps to reproduce the bug.

Unfortunately this bug seems to be caused by some sequence of steps (clicks in
the UI), so it's not possible to prepare a Test File.

This weekend I'll be using LO Impress a lot to prepare lectures, so I'll
certainly experience this bug again. As soon as it happens, I'll try to take

I disagree. There are plenty of languages other than English which also use
the Latin alphabet, where this tip-of-the-day works fine (not considering
diacritic marks).

Translators for non-Latin languages should adjust the wording themselves to
better accommodate their language and users. Adding a comment for translators
may be a good idea, but specifying "English words" is unnecessary.

Can not confirm on
Version: 7.1.1.2 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: fe0b08f4af1bacafe4c7ecc87ce55bb426164676
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19042; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

with Windows os/DE at 100% or 125% scaling.

What scaling factor are you running Windows at? There have been UI elements
that do not scale well for os/DE HiDPI support. Guess the Comment objects
could be affected.

The pg-dn and pg-up keys are scrolling controls, for selection or view port
movements within a document.

Specific scope of the movement is os/DE dependent, and current zoom level of
document canvas.

And as with dupe, this remains => WF and would waste dev effort for "taming"
the variability by os.

Otherwise for bug 105776 at LO 7.1.0 we implemented full page movements &
selection with the
.uno:GoToStartOfNextPage
.uno:GoToStartOfNextPageSel
.uno:GoToStartOfPrevPage
.uno:GoToStartOfPrevPageSel

assigned and
