[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 140695] calc: wrong results and less precise than excel
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140695 --- Comment #4 from Peter S Anderson --- Created attachment 170956 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=170956=edit Excel Sheet showing Calculation differences to Calc I have reproduced this in 7.0.4.6 (x64) and found the same result. Enter 99,999,999.999 in one cell and 99,999,999.998 in another. Format to show 7 decimal places to confirm. In another cell enter a formula to subtract the two cells. The result is 0.000 (not 0.001). In fact it seems to be exactly that. I then did the same thing in Excel and initially got the same result but if I use the formula =(A1-A2) the result was changes to 0.000894. Very strange. Changing the formula makes no difference in LibreCalc, ie. the result is still zero and incorrect. I have attached a spreadsheet created in Excel and included a number of interesting examples. Column A includes another formula : =((A1/100)-(A2/100))*100 Excel gives 0.000931 (arithmetically correct to 15 significant figures) vs the correct answer of 0.001 whereas Librecalc gives 0. again. Column B is that same as Column A except that the initial data values differ in the 6th decimal place rather than the seventh, ie. 99,999,999.99 and 99,999,999.98 Interestingly, the calculated values in Excel and Calc are the same suggesting different processing logic in the two columns. In column C I have changed the two initial values to be 999,999,999,999,999 and 999,999,999,999,998 with the same formulae as in column A. This time Librecalc and Excel give the same correct value of 1.0 for C1-C2 and (C1-C2) BUT =((C1/100)-(C2/100))*100 incorrectly gives 0 in Calc but a more accurate 0.9765625000 in Excel. Finally, Column D has the initial values of 99,999,999,999,999 and 99,999,999,999,998. In this case Calc and Excel give exactly the same answers. To me it is very clear that Excel and Calc are giving different answers. The question is what if anything to do about it. My view is that someone needs to take a look at the code to see what it happening. My simplistic view is that Excel is giving better answers, ie. correct to 15 significant figures (notionally compliant to IEEE 754) but a more detailed examination is required. If any change is made to arithmetic processing in Calc it will probably be necessary to introduce a settings flag to allow legacy sheets to give the same “incorrect” results that they previously did. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54669 --- Comment #11 from QA Administrators --- Dear dsoetebeer, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141488 Bug ID: 141488 Summary: Writer text box does not stay rotated after save and reopen Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.1.2.1 rc Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: brooks...@gmail.com Description: I create a text box in Writer, insert one word of text, then rotate the text box to about 45 degrees. This is the only page and text in the document. The document prints just fine as created. But, if I close and reopen the document, the text now appears across the first line of the page, with the rotated box appearing below in the position initially placed; the text is no longer in the box. Steps to Reproduce: 1. create a text box. insert one word of text. 2. rotate text box to about 45 degrees 3. save and close document and reopen Actual Results: text is no longer in box after document reopen. Text is at top of page at left margin. Box is where left when document saved, but no longer contains text. Expected Results: Text should have been in box, where it was when document was saved. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97901] paste special with transpose activated fails with "not enough space on sheet"
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97901 --- Comment #9 from Scito --- I've investigated this issue. All selected cells are taken into account. Also the empty cells. Steps to reproduce: i) Copying columns: 1. Write 1 in cell A1. 2. Select column A. 3. Copy 4. Go to cell B1. 5. Paste 6. --> It works and 1 is in cell B1. 7. Go to cell C2. 8. Paste 9. --> Error "There is not enough space on the sheet to insert here" 10. Go to cell A2 11. Edit > Paste Special > Transpose 12. --> Error "There is not enough space on the sheet to insert here" ii) The same is valid for copying rows. 20. Select column 1 21. Copy 22. Go to cell A2. 23. Paste 24. --> It works and 1 is in cell A2. 25. Go to cell B3. 26. Paste 27. --> Error "There is not enough space on the sheet to insert here" 28. Go to D1 29. Edit > Paste Special > Transpose 30. --> It works and 1 is in cell D1. (This case works as there are less cells in a row than a column. Copying everything is just copying columns (i.) and rows (ii.) combined. Pasting with skip empty cells of Paste Special does not change the behavior. The behavior of transposing seems consistent with the "normal" copy/paste. It is not really an issue of transposing. The solution is just to select and copy/paste/transpose the data that you want. With the current design of rows and columns in LibreOffice, I think there is no proper solution to this bug report (only for transposing). It would be a hack. A proper solution should handle the cases in steps 9., 12., and 27. together and keep the consistency. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141486 Bug ID: 141486 Summary: Second row of Groupedbar Compact vanish when changing context to regular text in Libreoffice Writer Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.1.2.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: UI Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: jncres...@outlook.com Created attachment 170947 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=170947=edit Shows what icons have disappeared compared to what should show and what shows in the table context. Groupedbar Compact menu is made up of two rows of icons & words. When the cursor context changes the menu changes to show only relevant options. # The bug Most of the 2nd row of the menu doesn't show. # Steps 1. For the user interface, set UI Variant to Groupedbar Compact. 2. Create a table in Libreoffice Writer. 3. Move the text cursor out of the table to the normal text outside of the table. Also occurs when changing the context from having a shape (image/fontwork/textbox etc) selected to the cursor being in text. The icons return when maximizing/restoring or changing the window size. These steps seem to reliably reproduce the bug on a new document, but after repeated switching contexts and resizing window, triggering of the bug seems more random. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 44267] Two decimal digits are insufficient for specifying object position and size
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44267 --- Comment #33 from Luke --- I agree that while “there are a very rare situations when a precision like this is needed”, it is still a good idea. However, the option to change decimal precision belongs under: Tools > Options > LibreOffice Draw > General Decimal Precision The proposal in Comment 11 to clutter every dialog box up with the option to change measurements is a bad idea and poor workaround. It does not directly solve the problem. And the additional visual noise, clutter, and wasted space does not make sense for such a rarely needed feature. CAD apps like SOLIDWORKS and FreeCAD both solved this problem by putting decimal precision under Tools > Options. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=140705 --- Comment #12 from Caolán McNamara --- I can't reproduce this in my 7-1 linux gen version cui/uiconfig/ui/aboutdialog.ui has... gtk-close True True True True True In 7.1, because of "use-stock", I expect vcl/source/window/builder.cxx:1301 extractStock to return true, and bLegacy to be false, and thus xWindow = VclPtr::Create(pParent, nBits); xWindow->SetText(getStockText(sType)); to be called where getStockText is supposed to replace gtk-close with VclResId(SV_BUTTONTEXT_CLOSE) if getStockText was called at all, failure would result in an empty string, not an unchanged string. The button is created so extractStockAndBuildPushButton must be called, so I can only surmise that extractStock returns false for some unknown reason and line 1323, xWindow = VclPtr::Create(pParent, nBits) is called leaving the label of gtk-close unconverted. maybe m.a.riosv can attach the aboutdialog.ui file from their share/config/soffice.cfg/cui/ui directory to confirm it has the exected "use-stock" property for that btnClose dialog. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 141472] UK format dates reduced by 4 years and 1 day when copied/moved to different spreadsheet
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141472 --- Comment #4 from Bob Bruynooghe --- The version of LibreOffice is Version: 6.4.6.2 Build ID: 0ce51a4fd21bff07a5c061082cc82c5ed232f115 CPU threads: 4; OS: Mac OS X 10.16; UI render: default; VCL: osx; Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded (Finder says it is 6.4.6002) I have uploaded 2 spreadsheet files: the first is a duplicate of the file with which I had the original problem but with its contents much reduced and the second is the file into which the 2 sheet from the first file have been copied. I did the copy using the menu from the right hand mouse button on hovering over the sheet name. The first column in both sheets contains dates and it is these dates have been changed in the copying process. For example the first date in the Laura Ashley sheet is 12/11/2009 in the original spreadsheet and after copying it has become 11/11/2005. regards Bob -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
