We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146789] New: Inaccurate documentation of Writer Keyboard shortcuts
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146789 Bug ID: 146789 Summary: Inaccurate documentation of Writer Keyboard shortcuts Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.2.3.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Documentation Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: erw...@alumni.beloit.edu CC: olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org The Getting Started guide 7.1 states that Home and End move to the beginning and end of the current line. The Writer Guide 7.2 for MacOS doesn't say otherwise. In Writer on MacOS, they move to the beginning and end of the document. This is more intuitive, but the documentation hasn't caught up, and doesn't help users find their actual keyboard navigation options. The Getting Started guide 7.1 states that Control-Home and Control-End move to the beginning and end of the document. In Writer in MacOS, they do nothing. There is no consistent pattern between the described behavior of nav keys in the documentation, and their changes with Control and Command, and their actual behavior. Part of this is probably because MacOS often uses Command+Up as a sub for Home and Command+Down as a sub for End. I'm not seeing any options in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts which would affect this. I'm not seeing any options in LibreOffice, but I have a very hard time reading those preferences because they're far too small. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146787] New: Enhancement request
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146787 Bug ID: 146787 Summary: Enhancement request Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.3.0.1 rc Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: enhancement Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: rathcof...@comcast.net Description: In M.S. Word, if the cursor is in a paragraph, CTRL T causes a block indent. If the entry is longer than one line, the line wraps to the tab stop, not back to the left margin. Writer needs a similar feature. In Writer a block indent for an individual paragraph can be generated by: Format > Paragraph > Indents and Spacing; with Indent Before = 0.5 inches; and First Line = 0.5 inches where 0.5 is the first tab stop. But it’s cumbersome. It would be hard to develop a macro for this. The macro would have to retrieve the setting for the tab stop, which will differ from one document to the next. Writer should have a shortcut like the one in M.S. Word, where CTRL T causes a block indent just for the paragraph the cursor is in. Actual Results: There is no CTRL T in Writer. Can only create block tab using Format > Paragraph > Indents and Spacing, as described above. Expected Results: Format > Paragraph > Indents and Spacing has to be repeated for every paragraph where block tab is needed. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: In Word, CTRL T can be repeated to indent to 2nd, 3rd, etc. tab stop (not just the first one) so it's very flexible. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 112002] Make presentation layouts editable
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=112002 --- Comment #14 from Sinyeol An --- I created Bug 146771. and apparently, it was already filed here. The current layout UX is already missing some points because, in the master slide editing, there's no way to set the details for some existing layouts. For example, I cannot set the position of the title or the content in vertical layouts. Neither, I cannot customize the positioning of content boxes in layouts with multiple content boxes. Also, currently, LibreOffice just assumes the 2nd content box would follow the 1st content box' style, which doesn't need to be always true. It's simply because we don't have any UX/UI for setting layouts for each master slide. At least, each master slide should show available layouts, for example, in a tree view. Then, by selecting each layout, it should support customizing them. [master slide] ├─ [layout 1] ├─ [layout 2] ... └─ [last layout] This approach anticipates layouts belonging to a master, and by doing so, it becomes easier to add custom fields to the master. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146439] Enabling italic causes a wiggle at different zoomlevels
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146439 --- Comment #11 from Caolán McNamara --- In comment #9 if the text is explicitly split into two runs, by selecting the space and the following text "himself" and clicking "Russian" in the statusbar and picking another language for the text; then the text will be laid out and rendered as two separate runs. Then this right aligned case is stable when the "pressing" has its font changed. So the issue is that the starting point that the 2nd run of text is rendered at is different to what the glyph position that the space before h is set to when it's just one run of text. Let me try something there. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146769] Reopen documents from previous session on start
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146769 --- Comment #8 from johndoe...@protonmail.ch --- Regina, thanks for the suggestion. My programming background doesn't include LibreOffice macros. From the online material, it doesn't look too complicated grammatically and I figured out where the events and such were. But, the API that's documented in help doesn't seem to have a mechanism for checking to see what docs are open. I didn't see an obvious reference to extensions or gimmicks. For someone who's already experienced in these thing it sounds like a workable solution. Without that background, it would be far easier to craft a bash script that took ps waux | grep libreoffice and piped it through gawk/awk to update a file. Run that script with crond every five minutes-ish. Then add a startup script that would open those files in libre. But... I think all that's besides the point. The reason for a feature enhancement request is that this is a feature offered by a large number of applications (as well as OS X). Such feature consistancy across user applications is one of the basic application design principles that was introduced by the modern GUI. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146775] Read Only Message Appears at Top Left instead of Center of Screen
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146775 --- Comment #4 from Lucas J --- OK, so when LibreOffice is already open, it displays in center of screen. On the other hand, when LibreOffice is not running, and you download a read-only document from Firefox and open LibreOffice with the read only file as an argument, this is when the bug happens. I am willing to fix this bug. I simply cannot find where the dialog is created in the code. I was searching for this dialog for hours. If you know where it's located, this might give me a hint on how to fix it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146769 --- Comment #6 from johndoe...@protonmail.ch --- Yes, Stuart, please stop describing my report as something it is not. It is NOT A BUG REPORT. I marked it "ENHANCEMENT" (under importance). It is still clearly marked "ENHANCEMENT". Telesto: it sounds like a system restore because that's what it is on an application basis. Linux (at least the flavor of Ubuntu I run) does not currently offer such a feature. Individual apps have certainly rolled in some version of a restore. Browsers, Text Editors, Development environments all offer it. You point actually addresses Foote's obsession with abusing system resources and corruption. Mac's have offered system restore for years without problems with either. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146502] EDITING In LO Base manually set column formats for tables are erroneously reset to defaults
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146502 --- Comment #1 from Paul Ward --- Not sure what else I can add to my description of the problem. My database needs to deal with dates earlier than 1600 - a lower limit on date fields imposed by the forms designer. To get around this limitation I treat date fields as text rather than dates and set the column formats to -MM-DD per suggestion from Ratslinger. At seemingly random intervals some seemingly random column formats are reset to MM/DD/YY. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146769] Reopen documents from previous session on start
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146769 --- Comment #5 from V Stuart Foote --- No bug involved, it is clearly an enhancement, and the -1 is for a use case that can not be justified (from development or maintenance or UX perspective). Having that count of application frames enabled on launch is abusive of system resources. Web browsers get away with-it bcz most sessions are static with minimal impact as system fires up. Trying to force other applications to do the same with documents and data connections is a recipe for instability and corruption. Otherwise as noted, the MRU list is available from main menu or the StartCenter thumbnail views. Out of scope for project, and IMHO a clear won't fix => WF. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 146769] Reopen documents from previous session on start
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146769 --- Comment #4 from johndoe...@protonmail.ch --- Vis-a-vis comments about limited utility: between systems updates and such, my machine reboots has to reboot, generally, weekly. Re-opening what I was working on automatically is of immense value based on time-saved alone. The process to manually restore things --120-150 browser tabs, 6+ libreoffice docs, another 6-10 text documents, etc., etc-- takes an hour. Firefox and Chrome adding the option to restore last session saves an immense amount of time. Vis-a-vis those questioning doing it automatically, I can certain understand that concern. It would certainly be worth offering it as a configuration option. The "Also -1 in the context given here..." is a bit bizarre. I'm not sure if that's the request as a feature enhancement (as opposed to a bug request?) or the idea that restoring the prior session at start up is the wrong time. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 144488] HYPERLINKS: Hyperlink to target in external document doesn't work in exported PDF (steps in comment 4)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144488 --- Comment #9 from harald.brau...@t-online.de --- (In reply to Timur from comment #8) > Is this the same as bug 142707? Hello Timur, I think bug 142707 this is a additional problem. Here is my current workaround to solve my problem: It is possible to export a PDF file from a global document (.odm file). However, the hyperlinks that link certain topics with partial documents of the global document are not adapted. In the PDF file then a) the targets are not found, or b) if the document parts are accessible, they are accessed. If such a PDF file is sent or transferred to another computer, case a) is always active. This is not desirable. For this reason, the basic procedure is as follows. 1: 1. update all directories and links in the global document (.odm file). Attention: This currently takes between 2.5 and 4 hours. 2. 2. save the global document 3. create a normal Writer document from the global document (.odt file; File -> Export) 4. deactivate links and write protection in .odt file; remove links 5. save .odt file 6. change relevant hyperlinks in .odt file Save .odt file. 7. Export a PDF file from an .odt file. Create .odt file from .odm file. 1. open .odm file Answer Yes to the question whether all links should be updated. 3. 3. when the links are updated: save the .odm file 4. then File -> Export and create .odt file 5. close .odm file 6. open .odt file 7. answer with No to the question whether all links should be updated. 8. go to Format -> Areas... Go to Format -> Areas... 9. range: mark all ranges (mark 1st range; go down and mark last range with Shift+Click. 10. shortcut: deactivate shortcuts 11. write protection: deactivate protection 12. click the OK button 13. save .odt file 14. go to Format -> Areas... Go to Format -> Areas... 15. 15. range: Mark all ranges (mark 1st range; go down and mark last range with Shift+Click. Click on the "Remove" button. 17. Close the window with the OK button. 18. Save the .odt file. Adapt hyperlinks in .odt file = Copy the .odt file into an empty temporary directory. 2. 2. change to the temporary directory 3. open .odt file with archive management (.odt file is a zip archive) 4. unpack the .odt file into the temporary directory. Finally, click on "Show file". 5. Close the archive management. 6. 6. search for the file "content.xml" in the temporary directory and open it with Atom. 7. 7. call Find -> Find in Buffer 8. in Find: (href=")+.{5,90}(\.odt#). Assumption: File whose hyperlinks are to be adapted has the file name "Gradle_User_Manual.odt". 9. 9. enter: href="# in Replace. Mark the option "Regular Expression" (.*) and wait until the searched places are marked by Atom. 11. Search for the first entry with the "Find" button and, if OK, change the marked entry with the "Replace" button. 12. Click the "Replace" button until all relevant hyperlinks have been changed. 13. 13. Save content.xml in the archive. 14. Close content.xml and Atom. 15. 15. Mark the .odt file. Call up the "Rename..." function. Execute the key combination Ctrl+A. Execute the key combination Ctrl+C. Press the ESC key. 16. Mark all files except the .odt file. 17. Call up the "Compress..." function. In the "Archive name" field, execute the key combination Ctrl+V. Then click on "Create". (Files are compressed into a zip archive; file extension .zip). 18. Delete the "old" .odt file in the temporary directory. 19. Mark the Zip archive. Call up the "Rename..." function. Remove the .zip file extension. Complete "Rename...". 20. Mark and delete all files in the temporary directory with the exception of the newly created .odt file. Export PDF file = 1. open .odt file with the changed hyperlinks 2. go to File -> Export as -> Export as PDF... go to 3. window PDF options Tab: General Area: Select option "All Area: Mark "Show PDF document after export". No, the border starts and ends at the inner edge of the paragraph margin area. > But when there's a list > inside the paragraph, A list is never "inside the paragraph", but each list item is a paragraph of its own. > the border is wrong, it's shifted and looks awful. The paragraphs of the list items in your example likely have a margin. I assume, that you want a look similar to the list in my attachment. It is made with the old kind of list (as used in Draw/Impress). Such determines the bullet position without using a margin. Unfortunately Writer has no UI to generate these kind of lists, although if such list exists, the UI of its style switches to the old kind. But I think instead fiddling around with paragraph borders and kind of lists, you should put the part for which you want a border and a fill into a frame and use the border and fill of the frame instead of the border and fill of paragraphs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

You can only select from a selection of pre-defined sizes. It would be good if a custom size could be specified when printing, as can be done with other applications such as Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird. Hi Julien, thanks for taking a stab at this, quite the effort! >From memory of exchanging with the OOo DB devs at Sun many, many years ago, the whole basic idea was indeed to copy/paste/adapt from the basic driver code, and there was little to no code commentary or documentation when the code was first released, so I'd say you're having a pretty good go! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146759 --- Comment #6 from Telesto --- (In reply to PeeWee from comment #5) As far I'm aware it's about amount of dialogs.. After 3 dialogs open the same time it getting unstable. (So Wizard at impress + tip of the day + about Window) It's Skia related: only happens with Raster; not with Vulkan Reproducing it is for me not the issue.. Note that these same names are not the ones displayed during the installation. So there is a little cleaning to be done in both the Options and the installation wizard. Here are the proposed corrections: "Anglais (U.S.A.)" → "Anglais (États-Unis)" "Yiddish (USA)" → "Yiddish (États-Unis)" "Serbe cyrillique (Montenegro)" → "Serbe cyrillique (Monténégro)" "Serbe latin (Montenegro)" → "Serbe latin (Monténégro)" "Haoussa (Nigeria)" → "Haoussa (Nigéria)" (both writings are used but the second one is recommended in France) "Arabe (EAU)" → "Arabe (Émirats arabes unis)" "Espagnol (El Salvador)" → "Espagnol (Salvador)" "Espagnol (Venezuela)" → "Espagnol (Vénézuéla)" (both writings are used but the second one is recommended in France) Thank you! Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open the Options menu. 2. Select the language settings. Actual Results: Language names are sometimes mistranslated Expected Results: Language names should be the official ones. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Another cosmetic issue, as you can see on the attachment, is that the sub-menu starts with "Langue de" in bold, while "Langue" alone seems more appropriate.
