Couldn't find a ticket for the jumbo sheet itself (but a META ticket for
remaining issues). WFMs for bug 133880 and bug 134362 could be DUP too. Bug
50916 requested "Allow more than 1024 columns in calc" (coming in 7.4).

Feel free to reopen if you are aware of the feature and the question is about
something different. UX-wise I recommend to use specialized software for large
data sets, for example R.

2022-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146323

I'd say this should be a WONTFIX.

The general rule is "save as close to the document model as possible. This
means that adding stuff not present in model is a no-go. After such a save,
there's no way to load it as before: manual line breaks would break the text
flow in paragraphs.

The generation of such files is in the area of "use an extension".

The diagram layout has an additional text rotation (txXfrm) with the same angle

Currently LO uses both the shape rotation and the text rotation.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149778] New: Hyperlinks in comments need to flow as they do in Writer paragraphs

2022-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149778

Bug ID: 149778
Summary: Hyperlinks in comments need to flow as they do in
Writer paragraphs
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com

Created attachment 181020
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=181020=edit
ODT file showing the problem

Suppose you have a very long hyperlink in a paragraph in a Writer document. It
will flow naturally and be marked as a hyperlink, which is the expected
behavior.

However, if the same link is pasted inside a comment box, it will not flow and
it will be written in a single line that is wider than the comment box itself,
which makes it impossible to read the comment.

The expected behavior would be that the comment flow inside the comment box as
it does in a Writer paragraph.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Open the attached ODT file
2) See the hyperlink in the text (a paragraph). It flows naturally, as
expected.
3) The same link is pasted in a comment box. It does not flow and it is not
possible to read it

AFAIK this is inherited from OO.

This is strange. Why is the Word UI not showing it as values, but empty cells?
(it's operated by magic, that's why)

It may very well be! In Word 2010, I get the same 3 line layout for that one
paragraph ending with "publikálhatja.", just like in Writer.
Even then the second row of the table is not rendered at the top of the next
page, but is kept at the bottom. Only the empty paragraph slips to the second.

> "Image" is not too general. A background fill can be a raster graphic or a
> vector graphic. To me, "picture" means the same as "photo", and that would
> be far too limited for background fill. I would use "image".
You're right I interpret too "picture" as "photo" so "raster image".
I thought we could only use "raster image" but since we can also use "vectorial
image", let's stick to "Image" which corresponds to both types.

Re reading the Powerpoint link, they support only raster images, at least on
some "web support" case:
"PowerPoint for the web supports the following picture formats: .jpg, .jpeg,
.png, .gif, .bmp, .wmf, .emf, .tif, and .tiff."

So indeed we should stick to "Image".

The string is in svx/source/tbxctrls/itemwin.cxx:
544 #define RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP NC_("RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP", "Bitmap")

See
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/include/svx/strings.hrc?r=ecfb1335#544

I suppose we may just change this but to avoid confusion, it may be relevant to
change RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP into RID_SVXSTR_IMAGE

git grep -n RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP
include/svx/strings.hrc:544:#define RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP
NC_("RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP", "Bitmap")
svx/source/tbxctrls/itemwin.cxx:181:
rListBox.append_text(SvxResId(RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP));
svx/source/xoutdev/xattr.cxx:1785:pId = RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP;

last one contains:
   1784 case drawing::FillStyle_BITMAP:
   1785 pId = RID_SVXSTR_BITMAP;

and this "FillStyle_BITMAP" is quite used and related to vars like "XML_BITMAP"
or "CTF_FILLBITMAPNAME" so again "BITMAP" pattern in string name...

Do those vars correspond to any type of image too?

"Image" is not too general. A background fill can be a raster graphic or a
vector graphic. To me, "picture" means the same as "photo", and that would be
far too limited for background fill. I would use "image".

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I did this:

1) create dirs "nfs_local" and "nfs_remote" in my home directory + create a
file test.txt in "nfs_remote"

2) Install nfs server by following
https://guide.ubuntu-fr.org/server/network-file-system.html
Package: nfs-kernel-server
Source: nfs-utils
Version: 1:2.6.1-2
Installed-Size: 636
Maintainer: Debian kernel team
Architecture: amd64

3) /etc/exports contains:
/home/julien/nfs_remote localhost(rw,sync,no_subtree_check)

4) mount localhost:/home/julien/nfs_remote /home/julien/nfs_local

5) I opened "nfs_local" dir and opened "test.txt" to modify it, no pb.

6) I created a brand new file test.odt in "nfs_local", no pb too.

Could someone give a new try with 7.3.4? (unless I missed something?)

If we pick "Image", we should revert patches for tdf#95394 I suppose.

About "Bitmap", do we consider it became a kind of generic term equivalent to
"raster image"? Just my personal opinion but "Bitmap" is one of a format of
"raster image", so would prefer "raster image". At least people won't believe
they can't use png files.
Of course 2 pbs here:
- it's a bit long
- not sure any casual user knows the signification of "raster"

So I took a look what Microsoft used in Powerpoint and read this link:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/change-the-background-of-your-slides-in-powerpoint-for-the-web-6927cd06-5a5b-483e-9d98-6e270df45700
It seems they chose "Picture", IHMO a good choice since:
- it's not too long
- everybody understands
- rather implies raster

In brief:
- Image: too generic
- Bitmap: too much related to the format
- Raster image: too long and not understandable for everyone
- Picture: don't see cons here only advantages :-)

Jack London - White Fang

When large enough document, saved with web view, opens in Writer, it splits on
some pages depend on its size. But text fragments skips between pages.

It is possible to switch between readonly and edit modes some times, scroll
document top and bottom etc. Pages count would be reduced, and text fragments
stoped to skip, but only for current session. After next document opening
everything repeat.

I use Windows 7 (x64) and tested this bug on LibreOffice versions (x64): 7.1.8,
7.2.7 and 7.3.4.

I don't understand "n x m" -- are you implying this feature is already
available? If so, I haven't found it...

We have lots of data which produces 5M to 12M+ rows by up to 90-100 columns.
Calc only allows 1M rows; so our data doesn't fit.

I'm proposing a way to re-arrange the same 1Billion cells into different
configurations so that we can use more of the available cells. Currently, we're
using up to 100 columns which means 90%+ of the available cells can't be used.

I should mention that my team uses filters extensively, so breaking up say 90
columns into multiple sheets (or multiple sets of columns on the same sheet)
doesn't help.

If this feature was available; we would likely leave Calc set to 16M rows by
128 columns. I am proposing a more universal Calc. Even more universal would
also allow R/2x2C, R/4x4C, ... :)

Even better, in a multi-sheet file, we could use:
sheet1: 8RxC/8 or 16RxC/16
sheet2: RxC or another.
...

If the total file size was limited to max 1B cells; that would be adequate...
It's the current fixed 1Mx1024 that restricts us.
Hope this helps...

After some discussion with Christian following a wrong and abandoned recent
patch, here are information from him (a big thanks since this tracker was
really stuck!) which may help:

Hypothesis:
the prompt from macOS to grant access was not shown for some reason and did
timeout and thus LibreOffice was blacklisted
Suggestions:
Reset permission for documents folder and Desktop folder respectively
-> tccutil reset SystemPolicyDocumentsFolder
and/or
-> tccutil reset SystemPolicyDesktopFolder
(beware, without any additional parameter this will reset the permissions for
all apps)

It can be done only for LibreOffice:
-> tccutil reset SystemPolicyDocumentsFolder org.libreoffice.script
-> tccutil reset SystemPolicyDesktopFolder org.libreoffice.script

it's possible to reset every privacy decision related to LibreOffice use
-> tccutil reset All org.libreoffice.script

Remarks:
- it should work as admin user or as standard user
- when running from terminal by launching
/path/to/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice it will be the Terminal's
permissions that are applied, you'd have to use "open /path/to/LibreOffice.app"
or run it from finder to have it run in its own scope

To be even more complete, you can try:
* reset permissions using the "tccutil reset All org.libreoffice.script"
command mentioned above
* drag LibreOffice to a folder on disk

A) run LibreOffice without installing the languagepack first

you get the gatekeeper prompt whether you want to run the application
LibreOffice launches in English, as expected. Create a new file
Hit save, file dialog defaults to Documents directory, on hitting "Save"

→ macOS should prompt and ask whether to grant LibreOffice permission to
access the Documents folder
→ approve and LO should save successfully.
→ new documents should be saved to documents folder without a second prompt

Use Save as (or just create another document, doesn't make a difference)
and select the Desktop folder in the file selector, on hitting "save"

→ macOS should prompt and ask whether to grant LibreOffice permission to the
Desktop folder
→ approve and LO should save successfully
→ further saves to the Desktop shouldn't trigger the prompt

close LibreOffice and install the languagepack
launch LibreOffice again and now shoud come up in translated form
saving documents to desktop or documents folder shouldn't trigger a prompt
and work

B) install the languagepack without launching LibreOffice first

→ after hitting "install" in the languagepack installer it should trigger
launching LO and the gatekeeper should prompt asking whether you want to launch
LibreOffice

approve and the languagepack installation should continue

B.1) after languagepack installation is complete, LO shoud still run, close and
restart to use it in the new locale

creating documents and saving them should work as above, first time you try
to access Documents or Desktop you get the permission prompt, subsequent ones
should work without interruption.

B.2) after languagepack isntallation create a document in the still-running
English LO and save

should get the prompts as expected and save works.
after relaunching to switch to the new UI language saving should work
without additional prompts.

For those using homebrew, the mechanism is specific, bugtracker is about
installing from dmg.

So if after having applied all these someone still has a problem, please
provide a step by step process to reproduce this.
Let's put this one to NEEDINFO meanwhile.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149695] Untranslated strings in the Edit Paragraph Styles window of LO Writer 7.3.4 in Spanish

2022-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149695

Bearing in mind that when editing paragraph styles, concepts such as "Parent
Style" and "Child Style" or "Base Style" are considered, then the Spanish
translation for "Reset to Parent" can be set as "Restaurar al Padre", " just as
Julien mentions it.

In conclusion, I approve the translation suggestions to Spanish, of all the
strings mentioned in this Bug, as suggested by Julien.

In that order of ideas, the next step is to proceed to set the corresponding
translations of those strings in Weblate.
Thanks Julien.

1) Insert an image in the document
2) Right-click - Properties
3) Go to Crop tab
4) Notice Keep Scale ratio button being active
5) Go to Scale and change 75% width to say 50%

OP expects Height to be adapted too. A valid request, but the 'Keep Scale' is
limited to 'crop' functionality..

Something like a lock would be nice, to do a async change..

Bug ID: 149772
Summary: LibreOffice appears to be saving MS-Office files with
the wrong date/time
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: colin...@hotmail.com

Description:
I am using LibreOffice 7.3.4.2. Today I noticed that if I save a version of an
MS-Office file (e.g. xslx, docx), the time/date stamp does not change. If I
save a new version, it assigns the correct date, but incorrect time (I am on
EST and it assigned a time 4 hours earlier). It correctly notes the time if I
save with LibreOffice extensions (e.g. ods, odt). This occurred in both Writer
and Calc.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open a LibreOffice file (or a MS-Office file in LibreOffice)
2.Save as MS-Office file
3.Check the timestamp

Actual Results:
Date/Timestamp did not change, or was assigned wrong if this is the first save.

Expected Results:
Date/Time stamp should have updated

I had marked this bug as resolved because it circumvents my problem. But that
was probably a bit early:

Deleting spaces and tabs at the start or end of a line/paragraph seems to work
only under special circumstances and under other circumstances it does not
work: Especially it seems to quit its work when a paragraph spans a paragraph
in which it would otherwise start working, as my attachment shows.

Therefore I set this bug report back to unconfirmed, although my problem got
solved by Telesto's comment.

Telesto, thank you.

In fact, I had to uncheck four checkmarks (two for each case, [M] and [T]):

* Delete spaces and tabs at the beginning and end of paragraph
* Delete spaces and tabs at the end and start of line.

(Why the different order and different terms: *start and end of line* would be
shortest and most logical for most of the world: from left to right.

See the commits and comments above. UI issue was a missing disabled state when
the spin button has max/min value. The documentation part is about what you can
do, ie not going beyond the number of rows - a minor issue, as it should be
clear now. Up to documentation to resolve fixed.

example from a more complex document). And it's indeed probably low priority.
But I fail to see how the fact that the page number isn't aligned on the right
could be considered as not being a bug. (How can you even judge BTW since you
say you don't see it?)

I try to find what is the conflict because when I click sooner and my computer
has not finish to load all programs. Libreoffice don't freeze and everything is
OK.

So Libreoffice freeze if I don't open it sooner

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149770] New: Over the past few weeks when I open a document that has already been saved, it wants to save it.

2022-06-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149770

Bug ID: 149770
Summary: Over the past few weeks when I open a document that
has already been saved, it wants to save it.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3 all versions
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bab1...@zohomail.com

Description:
A few weeks ago or more suddenly everytime I try to open a doc or a blank doc,
etc. it wants to save the last thing I worked on even though I saved it and
closed it properly. Yesterday when that happened, it could not save it since it
said it didn't exist and indeed it was gone. I had to find the backup which was
actually not the final version.

Actual Results:
I just open Writer, either to create a new document or I open an existing one,
and the message pops up to save the last thing I worked on.

Expected Results:
Usually I just save it again. Yesterday it had disappeared. I had to get the
backup but it was the next to last version saved.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Just opened

On pc Debian x86-64 with LO Debian package 7.3.4.2, I don't reproduce this.

4.1.6 is a very old version, could you give a try to 7.2.7 or 7.3.4?
Also, could you try this:
