[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149885] Equation Editor (Math tool) needs explanation for adding exponents that are non-alpha or non-numeric
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149885 --- Comment #2 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Richard England from comment #0) > Expected Results: > description of using non-numeric non-alpha characters should be available One opens LibreOffice help [1], clicks on "Formulas (Math)" in Contents (to the right), "General Information and Usert Interface Usage" (the first sub-item), and "Welcome to the LibreOffice Math Help" - i.e., simply opens the very first Math help page. The page basically gives you some links to the following reading - and the very first link is: "Instructions for Using LibreOffice Math", under which there is "Entering Text" [2]. Quoting it: > How to enter direct text strings that do not get interpreted? > Some text strings get interpreted as operators automatically. Sometimes this > is > not what you want. If you want to write W* (a letter with a superscripted > asterisk), the asterisk will be interpreted as a multiplication operator. > Enclose the direct text within double quotes or add spaceholders. Beyond the help (available at F1 keypress), there is also Documentation page [3] available on the LibreOffice website, where you can find Math Guide [4] with discussion of topics like "Unpaired brackets", "Formulas over multiple lines", "Markup language characters as normal characters" and other not-straightforward and corner cases. There's also FAQ [5], with topics like "How do I get * as a superscript? Using x^* produces an error" [6] and "How do I use a keyword like in as a variable name" [7]. And then, there is https://ask.libreoffice.org/, with already answered questions like "In equation mode, how to use - sign in the superscript" [8], appearing as the first result for search like "math minus superscript". Is this bug solved? [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149798] Error when opening DOCX after saving with captions on images
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149798 --- Comment #6 from Mouse Y. --- (In reply to Timur from comment #4) > (In reply to Mouse Y. from comment #0) > > 2. Scroll down until you find a table that has this text field inside of it. > > The first one you'll find is on page 6. > > 3. Type something in those text fields. > > Well, it's not so simple. These are not text fields at all. They are > pictures in MSO. So text cannot be entered there. Really? Well, I never tested this file in MS Word, so I'll take your word for it. > Adding text in LO is setting caption. And that's what creates a problem in > LO, MSO cannot open saved file at all. That's actually pretty interesting. I just now looked at those alleged text fields in both your file and in my original one in LibreOffice, and yes, they are in fact images. I looked further into it, and now I'm thinking they are AutoShapes (or just a Basic Shape in LibreOffice) or something like them because I could still add text to the center of them, just like an AutoShape. How I was able to type text in those things was through double-clicking the shape, then a text cursor appeared and I was able to type something in there. In any case, LibreOffice seems to treat the text as a caption. Good to know! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Not as a negative value, just a lone minus sign. An example can be created using the following limit equation as an example: lim from{x %tendto 6 sup -{} } { frac 2 (x-6)sup 3 } Note the "6 sup -{}". The empty {} is required or the equation editor will expect a value, like -x or -5 or some unary operator. The {} appeases the robot and allows the free standing "-" to appear. (The meaning is the limit as x approaches 6 from the negative side.) An hour long search and trial and error session by two people was required before we stumbled on this solution. It might save the next person at least that long to figure this out. Steps to Reproduce: 1. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 109398] Some lines of text are not visible for assistive technologies
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=109398 --- Comment #19 from Joanmarie Diggs --- (In reply to Chris Sherlock from comment #18) > Joanmarie, can you give us some hints as to what the workaround actually > does? What do you think might be causing this? A few of us have tried to > reproduce the issue, but we just aren't having much luck. In default.py, onCaretMoved checks to see if the object firing the caret-moved event exposes STATE_SHOWING. If STATE_SHOWING is absent, then that event is ignored because we only want to (potentially) present the new caret location if the user is in that text object. And if the thing isn't SHOWING, presumably the user is not in that text object. The workaround is the addition of presentEventFromNonShowingObject, which allows scripts to tell the default script that even though something isn't SHOWING, the caret moved event might still be worthy of presentation. The default implementation of presentEventFromNonShowingObject returns False. The LO script's implementation unconditionally returns True. As for what I think might be causing this on the LO side of things, my guess would be either the logic which determines if a paragraph is SHOWING and/or the logic which updates (via a state-changed accessibility event) the SHOWING state (e.g. when something is scrolled into or out of view). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 143689] UI: No feedback that spell checker isn't working because of lack of a dictionary (whereas automatic spell checking is turned on)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=143689 --- Comment #7 from Mike Kaganski --- Additional proposal (*might* be alternative, or maybe require a separate issue - please decide yourself): The indication could possibly be in the spell check *dialog*, when the spell check completes, there could appear an infobar (similar to the colored bands at some places where we show input errors, but with something more neutral than red), telling that some text used languages that have no dictionary installed. The list could be available e.g. as an expandable section with a list, or something. The spell dialog is a *proper* place for (moderately intrusive) things like infobars for this, because using it explicitly shows user's intention to check spelling; additionally, the operation requires parsing the whole text and analyzing available dictionaries, so in the end, all the information is available. As said, *maybe* we could limit this issue to what I propose here, or have it independently. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149708] DOCX Track Changes: Writer does not export change tracking of the paragraph mark of an inserted list item (see Comment 2)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149708 --- Comment #4 from László Németh --- Commit description: tdf#149708 sw_redlinenum DOCX export: track inserted list items Change tracking of the paragraph mark of an inserted list item wasn't exported. I.e. a new list item was exported as an old empty list item with new tracked text content. It was loaded with bad actual/original numbering, and rejection of the incomplete insertion left an empty list item in the list instead of removing that list item completely. Note: the problem was inherited from OOo. See also commit 508ed558948353a3eb8be9adf3588368e440f4cf "tdf#115524 sw_redlinenum: show original numbering of insertions" and commit 4e5f89d2d3511b6421b388ecaba2f61ada14d084 "tdf#119848 DOCX export: keep tracked deleted empty line". -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
