[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 147687] Video appears on wrong display with Wayland kf5

With kf5 on Wayland, GStreamer's "qwidget5videosink" is needed for video
playback to work properly, s.a. tdf#125219.

In order for this to work, the relevant Qt5 packages for
QtGStreamer need to be installed (provided e.g. by package
'qtgstreamer-plugins-qt5' on Debian, probably the same on Ubuntu).
Is that package installed?

If the issue still occurs with that package installed: Does the issue also
occur with current LO versions, e.g. 7.4? (There was another video-playback
related fix in tdf#148864).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151909] Calc not including field (from other tab refer) in SUM

2022-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151909

My theory is that something is happening to the file in passing it back & forth
between LibreOffice and Google Sheets. Again, I usually edit the spreadsheet in
the latter, but the totals in question are always correct.

Then when I later open the spreadsheet in LibreOffice, the cell referencing the
other tab/sheet is initially ignored in the SUM calculation. However, I'm
finding that once I make any kind of edit to the source tab/sheet, then
suddenly LibreOffice "sees" the total in that cell again, even if my edit made
no change to the value.

I attempted to create a sample spreadsheet that would reliably demonstrate the
issue, but was unable to duplicate the problem, even after passing the test
sheet back & forth between Google Sheets and LibreOffice.

So I'm at a loss to explain the problem that I'm seeing in my Budget
spreadsheet. Maybe something is just slightly different in the way the two
pieces of software safe the spreadsheet file?

Dear Nick Levinson,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to

Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151914] New: Adding words to custom dict with tags

2022-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151914

Bug ID: 151914
Summary: Adding words to custom dict with tags
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.3.0 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Linguistic
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: shantanu@gmail.com
CC: so...@libreoffice.org

Description:
I can right click and add a word to custom dictionary. But tags are not
allowed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Type Anna and spell check using English USA dictionary. There is no mistake.
2) Type Anna's and there is no mistake either.
3) Type Annas and it is considered incorrect. I can right click and add it
custom dictionary. ""But tags are not allowed.""

Actual Results:
Word Annas is considered incorrect.

Expected Results:
Word Annas should be considered correct if I add Anna/MS in custom dict.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Let's assume this word is already there in the dict file.
Anna/M

I will like to change the entry to this:
Anna/MS

I should be able to add this new entry in custom dictionary "with tags" that
will overwrite the current word (if already present).

> I don't know what the ODF spec defines

Relevant attributes in ODF 1.3 are: fo:language (20.202), fo:country (20.188),
fo:script(20.222) for Latin scripts, style:country-asian (20.256),
style:language-asian (20.302), style:script-asian (20.356) for East Asian
scripts and style:country-complex (20.257), style:language-complex (20.303),
style:script-complex (20.357) for RTL scripts. In addition the
style:script-type (20.358) attribute may be used.

These attributes belong to a style:text-properties (16.29.29) element. Such
element is primarily used in a (16.2) element of family text.
Such corresponds to character styles in the UI. In addition it can be used in a
element of other family types. Those are used, if a property is
not defined in the character style. And as last step it can be used in a
. That is used if the property was not found in the other
mentioned elements.

If you set a language in Tools>Options, that setting goes into the
style:text-properties elements in the elements. So you
can consider using the elements as a way to set a
"document" language. If you do not set a dedicated language in Tools>Options,
but use the "Default - ..." item, then no language is written to the
elements and it depends on the environment of the
LibreOffice installation in which the document is opened, which language is
considered as "document" language.

those change their Font language, if no other has been selected by hand.

Thank you Miklos for adding the information to the ODF_Implementer_Notes.

I think more is at this point not needed. The feature is not yet finished.
>From point of implementation, SmartArt is missing (bug 151882) and copy
behavior is not clear.
>From point of ODF I wonder about the loext:name attribute. Can there be more
than one loext:theme element? If yes, I would expect a reference with that name
in the graphic-properties. If not, what is the purpose of loext:name?
And, why is the theme definition in the master-page? List, number format,
gradient and table template are elements in for examples. A theme
could be handled similar.

I just opened my working version of Omaha. My first CopyDown generated the
usual flash of buttons.

So, version 7.4 gives the same behavior as 7.3.6, for white lines, cloudy
button on Kearsarge and the flash of hidden buttons. It may take a few days
until the black buttons on Omaha's Setup sheet show up. I've never been able to
figure out what causes that.

I tried another experiment. I deleted the "good" buttons on the Setup sheet for
Burton Island. I replaced the with the cloudy grey buttons from Kearsarge. I
saved, closed and re-opened Burton Island. The cloudy buttons were there. I
then replaced them with good buttons from another spreadsheet. Then, I saved,
closed and re-opened the spreadsheet. The "good" buttons were still there, as
we would expect.

If I replace the cloudy buttons on Kearsarge with good ones, and do the save,
close and re-open, then Kearsarge re-opens with the cloudy grey buttons.

2022-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151913

Bug ID: 151913
Summary: Libreoffice won't start if home directory is mounted
on mergerFS
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.7.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: strona+documentfoundat...@czarniak.org

Created attachment 183423
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=183423=edit
LO strace

I'm unable to start any LO components if /home directory (most likely some
relevant to LO parts of it) is located on mergerFS.

yaro@yaro-desktop2:~$ mergerfs.ctl info
- mount: /home
  version: 2.33.5
  pid: 630
  srcmounts:
- /mnt/md0
- /mnt/md1
yaro@yaro-desktop2:~$

yaro@yaro-desktop2:~$ findmnt /home
TARGET SOURCE FSTYPEOPTIONS
/home mergerfs fuse.mergerfs
rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other
yaro@yaro-desktop2:~$

LO execution example (no output, nor error at all):
yaro@yaro-desktop2:~$ C_ALL=C libreoffice --version
yaro@yaro-desktop2:~$

And now if I "redirect" $HOME to the drive where .config (and most of the other
/home content) is located:
yaro@yaro-desktop2:~$ LC_ALL=C HOME="/mnt/md1/yaro" libreoffice --version
LibreOffice 6.4.7.2 40(Build:2)

yaro@yaro-desktop2:~$

It works fine. Writer, calc etc can be started without any problems. For some
reasons, LO doesn't like mergerFS and just exit without any message or error.

I also checked strace but it did not provide me any extra information. But I'm
not good at it. :) Output provided in attachment.

I observe the same behavior on ubuntu 22.04, neon 20.04 and some relatively new
fedora. So it's not distro related.

I also reported bug on mergerFS github at:
https://github.com/trapexit/mergerfs/issues/1086

Here's how it looks in Linux. It uses a darker gray when you set the
"LibreOffice Dark" color scheme.

Based on previous screenshots by other users, as well as this one, I'm closing
this ticket as NAB.

Many of the document-support fonts (like Garamond) are in
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FontServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Fonts/ApplicationSupport,
but some others (like Times) are still in /System/Library/Fonts.

I suspect (but have not confirmed) that these fonts may be blocked from being
listed by font enumeration APIs, but they can still be requested by name.

2022-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151911

Bug ID: 151911
Summary: Writer crash when moving table column, work not saved
when program said it would be
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.2.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mikefreeman1...@gmail.com

Description:
I had created a large, multi-page table containing loads of accumulated data in
Writer. I decided I needed to reorganize the columns a little, so I highlighted
a column and started dragging it to the new location. Before I let go of the
mouse button, the entire window disappeared, and a small window came up letting
me know that the program crashed, and said that my data up to that point will
now be saved. I clicked ok. Once the program came up, the entire table was
gone, and many hours of work was lost. I tried reloading the file that I had
been saving it to, but of course that's the one that the window I clicked ok on
had saved to, which means that not only did I lose the data with the crash, but
my saved backup as well. Perhaps the crash window should save to an alternate
backup file instead of overwriting the working file.

Steps to Reproduce:
I haven't tried to reproduce the problem, as I've never seen this happen before
doing similar tasks. I would have to completely redo hours of work to replicate
the exact situation, and knowing my luck it probably won't happen next time I
try.

2022-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

OK I installed 7.4. I removed the grey buttons on Kearsarge, and I replaced
them with good buttons from Burton Island. Save, close, re-open. Buttons come
up as grey.

I opened Omaha. I went to the WR_Data sheet, copied the URL in the top corner.
(I found you have to do something on the sheet for it to take.) I then went to
the Log Page sheet, entered a couple of numbers in the weather area and did a
CopyDown. No brief flash of buttons! I did this test several times, and no
flash. This is encouraging.

I am stopping for my afternoon tea, and then I will start transcribing with my
working copy of Omaha. I will do occasional checks to test for flashing
buttons. I will also keep an eye out to see if the buttons on the Setup sheet
turn black. It happens randomly, and it often takes a few days to show up.

White lines.

I did a few goes to WR_data, copy a cell, go to the log page, enter a number,
do CopyDown and then a Ctrl-Home. I found no flash of buttons when I did the
CopyDown however, the situation with the white lines radiating from the buttons
were:

1. None
2. All of them
3. Two of them radiating from the top of the Adjust Angle button, and from the
bottom of the <> button just below it. The white lines extended just part way
across the image.

I just went to look at the spreadsheet again, changing nothing, and now all the
white lines are there. When I use the scroll bars, the lines change. Sometimes
I get some extending down from random columns, sometimes some of the horizontal
lines disappear. I did a Alt-End to put the PM_Start cell at the top of the
screen, and then I did a Ctrl-Home. No white lines.

Here are two images. (I'm not sure what kind of links are best. These should
do.)

Description:
Calc is not correctly totalling a group of cells that includes a reference

Steps to Reproduce:
1.(column SUM is correct when I edit the spreadsheet in Google Sheets)
2.If the values in the SUM column are changed with LibreOffice, the SUM total
ignores the value from the 1st cell (which is the referenced value from another
tab/sheet)
3.

Actual Results:
The SUM cell contains a formula to add up the 5 cells above it. The 1st cell is
a total value brought over from another tab/sheet. Once any of the values are

All 5 cells should be included in the SUM, including the cell with the value
from another sheet.

In order to demonstrate what the correct outcome would be, I pasted the

The bytes C2 A9 are the correct UTF-8 encoding of the code point 0xA9, the

After some testing, I believe I found the problem. It seems the 'Enable'

A simple test case:
(Since I have a Norwegian user interface, my English translations of the UI
labels may be inexact.)

1. I opened a new writer document, and
2. selected the copyright symbol by clicking on the "Omega" button in the
'insert' toolbar.
3. Then I saved a copy of the document (File -> Save a copy)
4. navigating to a temporary folder "C:\cygwin64\tmp",
5. naming the file "Copyright" and
6. choosing the format "Text (choose encoding)".

The coding dialog came up with "Unicode (UTF-8)" and "LF" selected, so I just
clicked on "OK".

I have Cygwin tools installed on my computer.
7. In a Bash command window, I changed to the temporary directory and issued
8. $ od -c Copyright.txt
The output was:
000 ? \n
002

Notice the question mark.

I will show the expected outcome in the next comment.

Here is the link to the current help page for SUMIF().

"smells like copyright infringement"...

Not at all. Are you familiar with Learning Management Systems and SCORM?
That's how we create online training modules with code that allows the learning
object to send results to the LMS, via SCORM. SCORM is an object model that
uses HTML5 and JavaScript to create a self-contained object that plays the
lesson back in a web browser. SCORM and LMSs have been around since the early
2000s and is a standard format. There are payware tools for this like Adobe
Articulate and PowerPoint + Presenter but they cost thousands, putting this out
of reach of small organizations.

Are you familiar with the open source Moodle software? It's used by
universities around the world. That is what this is for. There's no open
source solution for this, despite being an old standard.

@Alain, do you think that changing this argument name might cause backwards
compatibility problems?

Indeed, both TypeName and VarType use "Var" as the argument name.

See:
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/basic/source/runtime/stdobj.cxx?r=fbaf865f#869

In MS VBA the argument is called varname.

This might be a VBA compatibility issue. The code below does not work:

Option VBASupport 1

Sub TestVarName
Dim a As Integer
MsgBox TypeName(varname := a)
End Sub

As far as I know, this bug has been fixed. So could you please give LO 7.4 a

I confirm it with

Version: 7.4.2.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 382eef1f22670f7f4118c8c2dd222ec7ad009daf
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL

in comparison with Word 2016.

I have no idea what causes the different height of table rows:
- there is no spacing below paragraph
- row height is the same (fit to size)
- no border padding at the bottom
- no differences in style inspector

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 151907] New: Brand new Computer; Writer Crashes needs to turn off hardware acceleration to not crash

2022-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151907

Bug ID: 151907
Summary: Brand new Computer; Writer Crashes needs to turn off
hardware acceleration to not crash
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.7.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: plankton...@gmail.com

Description:
Bought a brand new HP Omen laptop (Model N0797Nnr, AMD Ryzen 7 6800H,
Windows11, Nvidia GeforceRTX 3060 6GB) Installed fresh LibreOffice 7.3.7.2
(x64).
Open Launcher, select create Writer Document. Writer Document opens and
immediately crashes.
In safe mode, Configure>Disable hardware acceleration (OpenGL, OpenCL, Vulkan);
then Writer works.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Launcher
2.Open Create new Writer Document
3.Writer Document app opens and immediately crashes, no error code or window

Actual Results:
Writer is not usable if it crashes immediately.
Workaround:
1. Start in "Safe Mode" then;
2. Select "Configure" and CHECK "Disable hardware acceleration (OpenGL, OpenCL,
Vulkan);
3. Continue "Apply Changes and Restart"
4. Launcher Opens, select create Writer Document; Writer works as intended.

Expected Results:
By disabling the hardware acceleration, Writer works.
Resetting the User Profile does not fix this issue.
Select "Configure" and CHECK "Disable hardware acceleration (OpenGL, OpenCL,
Vulkan);
3. Continue "Apply Changes and Restart"
4. Launcher Opens, select create Writer Document; Writer works as intended.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:

If a document does _not_ have a language property, then the options dialog
