[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 152775] [Enhancement] Emphasize the entry the mouse pointer is over in the Writer Navigator content tree

2023-02-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152775

The color inversion works well in all cases. But it feels obtrusive to me when
the black font on white background switches to white on black. Would be better
to just "shade" the background.

I would abstain from delays and unclear dependencies when the highlighting
happens. Assuming the user wants to know where this particular field is, any
delay of the feedback would be awkward. Or what Seth writes with "I am assuming
that nothing has changed" after 'emphasize entry only when entry's object is
overlaid'.

My first impression was to switch it off (because of the string contrast) or to
only blink once or twice and go back to the normal view. But in the end there
are not so many scenarios where the cursor rests over an entry in the Navigator
and users probably want to know where this item is. With a more subtle
visualization it could be a nice feature.

(Wanted this for the Styles Highlighter in order to detect where a particular
PS/CS and DF is used.)

Bug still exists in LO 7.5.0.3 on OpenSUSE 15.3 64bit rpm Linux.

Note: GUI won't show the right value if number has 16 digits or more. It will
show the first 15 digits and all other as '0' if you input such a value through
direct SQL.

Given the fact that we repeatedly discuss this topic seems to justify
alternative solutions. Some of the problems around automatically inserted pages
could be solved with a special page style that omits these pages from counting,
as planned in bug 153259. But if you tell Writer that the next page has to be
the "First Page" somewhere in the middle of the document the inserted blank
page makes sense, I don't see "spurious page breaks"

Thinking also about a checkbox that make the document start right by inserting
blank pages, or not if off; could be "[x] Right pages use odd numbers".
Probably not ODF-conform / compatible across applications.

Yes, I think this is fixed.
It was actually working two months ago in 7.4 already but I think the changes
in 7.5 make it easier.

Am I correct to assume that Mnong [cmo] needs to be added to the CLDR in order
for LO to know its name and default script? Mnong is actually written with
either Latin or Khmer script, but I tried another language which is only
written in Khmer script (tpu) and was disappointed to see LO add it as a
Western text language. It was only when I specified the script code with
tpu-Khmr that LO correctly added it to the CTL list. If the default script code
is specified in CLDR then will LO automatically assign it to the correct list?

7.4.5 does not activate Windows Dark mode theme support by default.

You have to activate with Tools -> Options -> Advanced 'Enable experimental
features (may be unstable)'

Also, do not make use of the Tools -> Options -> Personalizion 'Preinstalled
Theme' selections. Use only the 'Default look, do not use Themes' radiobutton.

Otherwise seems to be bug 151756, and Windows Dark mode theme support is
enabled by default in the 7.5 release and already improved further for the 7.6
trunk--with backports to 7.5 for much of the effort. In short move to 7.5 or
remain in a Windows Light theme mode with 7.4

Dear Biofjöd,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

I am assuming that nothing has changed from demo 1 and demo 2 -- but demo 2
shows a new dimension -- of highlighting the relevant items in the document.

First reactions:  looks useful (e.g., especially for finding small fields);
also the "global" feature (e.g., highlighting all hyperlinks).

Comment 1 was written in relation to demo 1, which did not show highlighting in
the document (except for one instance where "Images" was selected and maybe
"Image 94"). In light of demo 2, my impression is that it would be nice to be
able to turn this feature off/on (e.g., in context menu) -- not have it as the
only option.

Works erratically in:

Version: 7.6.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: d466df5bc220eb80b8a51ff64507de881b938ed3
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19044; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: da-DK (da_DK); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

Details:

1. Always goes to correct page (
https://help.libreoffice.org/7.6/en-US/text/shared/guide/template_manager.html
) but not correct bookmark in this page.

2. When opening the Template Manager for the first time, and pressing F1 with
the "Manage" button selected, it always goes to "Search"

HID=sfx/ui/templatedlg/search_filter#bm_id041620170649376935

3. Leaving the Template Manager open and repeating F1 on the "Manage" button,
it usually goes to "Search", but occasionally has gone correctly to "Manage"

HID=sfx/ui/templatedlg/action_menu#bm_id041620170649376938

4. Every once in a while, it reports a 404 message.

5. Have not been able to detect any pattern. Sometimes goes correctly to
Manage after 2 or 3 tries (where the initial results was always "Search"). But
in other attempts, it went to "Search" 14 times and never went to "Manage".

6. Also tested in Safe Mode, with similar problems (e.g., in first three
attempts, I got: "Search", "404 not found", and "Manager" (expected).
And have quit and restarted the program, but the same problem remains.

7. I have the impression that once LO "finds" the right bookmark, then it
continues to go to the right place (but has been hard to test systematically),
but if the Template Manager is closed and reopened, then the first attempt with
F1 on "Manage" always goes to Search.

Thanks and thank you for the comments. I was thinking about how to improve the

Perhaps more useful would be to only emphasis the entry when the corresponding

Please describe which solutions you point to, which specific data you work
with, what result you see, and what is your expectation.

I would expect, that for a set of durations, a simple SUM(A1:B10), formatted as
a duration (i.e., "[MM]:SS" using square brackets to denote durations, as
opposed to wall clock time) would do the job.

Bug ID: 153625

Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement

 Component: Calc

  Reporter: j.e.laba...@gmail.com

I would like to see a function to handle adding/subtracting/running total/sum
of elapsed times (usually minutes & seconds). The solutions usually presented
require either breaking up a MM:SS "number" into multiple columns, or some hack
that uses time-of-day (which isn't very reliable and prone to significant
errors).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 153623] New: [Character styles] Make more clear that the font used is from the paragraph style

2023-02-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153623

Bug ID: 153623
Summary: [Character styles] Make more clear that the font used
is from the paragraph style
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rgb.m...@gmail.com

In a Writer document, modify the Default paragraph style to select a custom
font, for example Libertinus Serif instead of the "factory setting" which is
Liberation Serif.

After typing some text, select a portion of it and apply any character style,
e.g. Emphasis: the selected text becomes italic respecting the font set for the
paragraph style, which is great.

Now edit said character style and in the Font tab notice that the selected font
is Liberation Serif.

Liberation Serif seems to be hard-coded in LibO and, at least for character
styles, means something like "if you don't touch this setting the paragraph
style font will be used instead, so ignore me." This can be quite confusing,
especially for people just starting to use character styles.

Some clear way of knowing when the base font will be used and when an explicit
font will be chosen instead is needed. For example, in the font list, instead
of selecting Liberation Serif, display a line that says something like "Use
font set in paragraph" or similar.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153621

Bug ID: 153621
   Summary: Black background menus
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.4.5.1 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: david.c@virgin.net

Description:
Getting black backgrounds in menus occasionally, in this release version, which
makes menus unreadable. Not noticed a behaviour pattern to replicate it.
Other active software on Win10x64 has dark themes active.

Fixes upon restart of software.

Related, icons/thumbnails in Windows recent files list are not right. The
icons are replaced with block grey slabs, with incorrect background colours.

These two anomalies seem related.

Steps to Reproduce:
No notieable pattern (yet).

Actual Results:
N/a

Expected Results:
Dark theme should be honoured in icons for this software in recent files list.
Dark them background should NOT be used in Writer menus, if the theme is
normal.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
[Information automatically included from LibreOffice]
Locale: en-GB
Module: TextDocument
[Information guessed from browser]
OS: Windows (All)
OS is 64bit: no
