[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157466] New: autofill of ascending references fails with non-sequential cell references

2023-09-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157466

Bug ID: 157466
Summary: autofill of ascending references fails with
non-sequential cell references
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: e...@x84.org

Description:
Working example, followed by non-working example:

Autofill function works correctly with sequential ascending cell references.
Example:
Create spreadsheet as follows:
A1: meow
A2: woof
A3: cluck
A4: moo
A5: bark

B1: =A1
B2: =A2

You may now select B1 and B2, and then you may drag the the fill handle in the
bottom right corner of the selection across the cells B3, B4, and B5, and
release the mouse button.

Result: The cells B3, B4, and B5 will auto-fill correctly, showing values of
"cluck", "moo", and "bark" respectively. Column B now contains these cell
references:

B1: =A1
B2: =A2
B3: =A3
B4: =A4
B5: =A5

Autofill of ascending references fails with non-sequential cell references.
Example:
Creat spreadsheet as follows:

A1: cat says
A2: meow
A3: dog says
A4: woof
A5: chicken says
A6: cluck
A7: cow says
A8: moo
A9: dog says
A10: bark

B1: =A2
B2: =A4

You may now select B1 and B2, and then you may drag the the fill handle in the
bottom right corner of the selection across the cells B3, B4, and B5, and
release the mouse button.

Result: The cells B3, B4, and B5 will auto-fill incorrectly, showing values of
"woof", "cluck", and "cluck" respectively. Column B now contains these cell
references:

B1: =A2
B2: =A4
B3: =A4
B4: =A6
B5: =A6

The expected behavior would have been for column B to instead contain these
cell references:

B1: =A2
B2: =A4
B3: =A6
B4: =A8
B5: =A10

Steps to Reproduce:
Autofill of ascending references fails with non-sequential cell references.
Example:
Create spreadsheet as follows:

A1: cat says
A2: meow
A3: dog says
A4: woof
A5: chicken says
A6: cluck
A7: cow says
A8: moo
A9: dog says
A10: bark

B1: =A2
B2: =A4

You may now select B1 and B2, and then you may drag the the fill handle in the
bottom right corner of the selection across the cells B3, B4, and B5, and
release the mouse button.

Actual Results:
Result: The cells B3, B4, and B5 will auto-fill incorrectly, showing values of
"woof", "cluck", and "cluck" respectively. Column B now contains these cell
references:

B1: =A2
B2: =A4
B3: =A4
B4: =A6
B5: =A6

Expected Results:
The expected behavior would have been for column B to instead contain these
cell references:

B1: =A2
B2: =A4
B3: =A6
B4: =A8
B5: =A10

Reproducible: Always

If you start with "SAL_FORCEDPI=144 libreoffice" it will scale up. Installing

Dear Bogdan Stăncescu,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157465] New: SQL Explorer J successfully runs SQL query yet LibreOffice Base does not

2023-09-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157465

Bug ID: 157465
Summary: SQL Explorer J successfully runs SQL query yet
LibreOffice Base does not
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jpkazar...@yahoo.com

Description:
If I run the following SQL command:

select "ID" from "Watches" where "Type_FK" = 39;

In SQL Workbench J connected to my Libra Office database files, I get an 11 row
result set. If I use Tools -> SQL in LibreOffice Base itself, I get no output.

I did not notice the problem until upgrading to 7.6.0.0 Alpha0+. However I
uninstalled that version and reinstalled 7.5.6.2 to no avail.

Is there a Base clean-up tool that I should use? Since I get different result
sets in two different client tools using the HSQLDB, I'm assuming Base has the
bug.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Base
2. In Tools-> SQL, check the show output box
3. Run a query linking a foreign key to a primary key

Actual Results:
None

Expected Results:
11 rows

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Attaching Zip file of Base application.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157464] New: Cells formatted as percentage no longer function as numbers, and cannot even be reverted to numbers

2023-09-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157464

Bug ID: 157464
Summary: Cells formatted as percentage no longer function as
numbers, and cannot even be reverted to numbers
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: nats@gmail.com

If one converts a cell format into % its contents no longer functions as a
number, which is a disaster to the data I just input and then reformated.
Example, if one had one row of three cells like:

1.0;  0.5;  0.1;

and one formats them into % they are correctly displayed as:

100%;  50%;  10%;

But now they are no longer numbers, they are strings or something! One can no
longer perform things like: math functions referencing them from other cells,
numerical conditional formatting like "Color Scale..." nor can one select them
and make a chart. Worse, one cannot select them and change the cell formatting
back to a number to get back the original set of three cells 1.0; 0.5; 0.1 back
to do any of the aforementioned operations because those cells are no longer
considered numbers at all let alone ones possible to reformat! (really
"deformat" as I just want my numbers back!)

Its like the percent reformat option in cell formatting multiplies the number
by 100 and then permanently converts it into a string and appends a % onto the
back end -- this is terrible behavior as it "de-numbers" your numbers
permanently! The appropriate behavior is similar to treating it like a
function with the real unconverted number still there. I.e., while it
shouldn't be displayed to the user in the following way, Calc should think of
the cells 1.0; 0.5; 0.1; when formatted to % as being akin to
=Percent(1.0); =Percent(0.5); =Percent(0.1), with anything accessing those
cells externally (such as: conditional formatting, charts, or equations in
other cells) as ignoring the Percent() function and just referencing the input
of the function.

happening (loss of only a few rectangular shapes, as described before).

Here now is my third way: Using the Edit menu exclusively, I "Select All", then
"Copy", and then open a new sheet. Again using the Edit menu, I "Paste" into
the already-selected A1 cell.

The problem I've described reoccurs.

Thank you Jeff!

If I use the formula bar to insert the quotes, I can reproduce. I can't
reproduce when editing the cell directly.
There is a mismatch between what is shown on canvas and in the formula bar.

Reminds me of bug 154623.

Tested with:

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 19e9fe7c8c89399753ac1730e1c76378b18418bc
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

As expected, no repro with gen VCL plugin.

My steps:
0. make sure language for all documents is French (Canada) or French (France)
1. write in cell A1: a b c
2. press Enter
3. up arrow back to A1
4. click into formula bar to add quotes before and after the letter b

BTW if not followed with a space, there is no substitution.

Right, thank you for clarifying.
This is indeed a limitation with the XLS format, and is not an issue with ODS
or XLSX.
I am marking as a duplicate of bug 44817 then.

(and I recommend moving away from the old binary formats, and using XLSX or ODS
instead)

Thank you!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157463] New: French angle quotes AutoCorrect rule uses double quotation marks instead in French (France) paragraph

2023-09-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157463

Bug ID: 157463
Summary: French angle quotes AutoCorrect rule uses double
quotation marks instead in French (France) paragraph
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.2.0.4 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: implementationError
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: stephane.guil...@libreoffice.org
CC: so...@libreoffice.org
Blocks: 103341

Steps:
1. Check that the angle quotes rule is on in Tools > AutoCorrect > AutoCorrect
Options... > Localized Options
2. Make language of paragraph or document French (France)
3. Write two consecutive less-than or greater-than signs followed by a space:
<< or >>

Result: left and right double quotation marks (“ and ”) are used respectively
Expected: left- and right-pointing double angle quotation (aka guillemets, «
and ») are used respectively, as described in the Help page:
https://help.libreoffice.org/24.2/en-US/text/shared/01/06040400.html

Note that the rule works as described if the text is in French (Swiss): the
single angle quotes are used.

Reproduced in recent master build:

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 19e9fe7c8c89399753ac1730e1c76378b18418bc
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

It's the case since it was implemented for LO 4.2 (tested with
linux-64-releases bibisect repo at libreoffice-4.2.0.0.beta1).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157462] New: Calc: Copy/paste of entire sheet slightly < 100% complete (pasted sheet is missing a few rectangle shapes)

2023-09-26 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157462

Bug ID: 157462
Summary: Calc: Copy/paste of entire sheet slightly < 100%
complete (pasted sheet is missing a few rectangle
shapes)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: terry.mast...@gmail.com

I created a CALC sheet to use as an annual calendar, nestled between several
other sheets on one page (my terminology?).

I further create narrow bars (Insert, Shape, Basic Shapes, Rectangles) across
several of my calendar's days to indicate multiday activities. (FWIW, these
bars by no means cover up the majority of each of the cells they are in.)

I now seek to extract this one calendar sheet from the one page containing
several sheets, so I try copying it and then pasting it to a new (empty)
spreadsheet. It mostly works, but then I discover that the pasted sheet is
missing just a very few of the aforementioned bars. (At least some of the few
missing bars start at the very left margin, should that make any difference.)

Note: sometimes I have right-clicked on a bar, then on Arrange, to bring the
bar one or more steps "forward" or "backward," but I don't see how I can
determine the original sheet's bar's position as to forward/backward (such that
I could see if this position corresponds to the copy error - Ideas, anyone?).

Might there be any workarounds that would accurately copy 100% of my calendar?
My calendar's historical accuracy is, for financial reasons, very important to
me!

TIA for any help or suggestions!

Terry

P.S. This is my first ever Bugzilla report, so please tell me if there's a
better way for me to do this :)

Bug ID: 157461
   Summary: EDITING: Diacritics don't work
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.1.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: stokest...@gmail.com

Description:
Attempts to select a diacritic for a character with the cursor (clicking on the
diacritic options) do nothing. Only selection via a number key works.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press and hold a key that offers diacritics, like N.
2. While the diacritic pop-up is on the screen, use the mouse to click on it
with the cursor

Actual Results:
The diacritic pop-up disappears, but the selected version of the character is
not inserted.

Expected Results:
The selected diacritic is inserted.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Cursor/click-based selection works in other (non-LibreOffice) applications.

I will attach screen grabs.

In order to not increase the width of the dialog, I went with this leaner
alternative:

"Replace two inequality signs (<< or >>) with angle quotes (« or »)"

Patch is in gerrit:

Thanks konsultor and buovjaga!

With your comment 17 steps, I get this crash report for LO 7.5:
https://crashreport.libreoffice.org/stats/crash_details/02989537-3669-469a-9dc2-fb247dbed55c

Version: 7.5.6.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: f654817fb68d6d4600d7d2f6b647e47729f55f15
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3

But starting from an empty table, I get a different signature:

https://crashreport.libreoffice.org/stats/crash_details/9a3708b1-c712-464b-b0c9-6a2053cc13b1

Also crashes in both cases in 7.6.2.1 and a recent master build:

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 19e9fe7c8c89399753ac1730e1c76378b18418bc
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3

Oddly, I have been able to bibisected it on my end. With the linux-64-6.3 repo,
the first bad commit is 0bd28154c3dbd097efd20c92dd8c6c1dc98884b4 which points
to core commit 3345feb67f2c49a1b76639965b56968e1c5f03ee which is a cherrypick
of:
