Thank you for your feedback.

nitpick:since there's no specific fix, let's put this one to WFM.

Dear Julien, here is my last comment added:

My problem (LibreOffice not making correct use of existing .bau-files for
AutoText) has been solved: LibreOffice normally cannot make any use of
.bau-files which are manually imported (i.e., simply copied into the correct
LibreOffice-subdirectory) from OpenOffice.

After "importing" of a .dot-file into LibreOffice via the proper menu one has
then a correct LibreOffice-bau-file which then can be manually treated (e.g.,
replacement of Windows font X by font Y; changing of size of signs from given
20pt to 12pt) and "saved" (manually) under a proper file-name and then
"imported manually" (i.e., copied into the correct subdirectory) - now
everything works fine.

Thank you for your suggestions!

--- Comment #16 from joachim.krec...@t-online.de ---
Dear Julien Nabet, thank you for your efforts. Still they all do not help me,
and I am quite sure that you "changing" of the title of my bug does not really
meet what LibreOffice does when replacing the "name" of an autotext-entry into
a special cuneiform sign: as far as I can see the LO-Program does not select
the "first font" (connected with the first .bau-file), rather the first
.bau-file itself.

I have tried to introduce some new items into the my .bau-files but even here I
did not succeed: marking a sequence of words (in default font) in a text, then
opening the autotext menu, there selecting "standard.bau" and trying to add the
new sequence of words together with a proper "name" is impossible, since the
menus which could operate this are greyed out, at least on my PC: it is
impossible neither to introduce something "new" nor to "change" any of the
items shown nor to "add" a new "category" (i.e., a new .bau-file).

So I shall continue to make use of OpenOffice Writer where all these things are
easily done.

I gave a try to try to reproduce the first pb, ie whatever bau file selected,
it gives the same.
I'm not sure if I could reproduce this. Indeed, I removed first listed bau file
to see if there was a difference, and either the difference is very small or I
missed something.

I have added the files hopefully useful to you in 3 extra "comments" since I
first tried to send whatever I wanted to give you just by "replying" in the
normal way to your email. However the mail-demon has told me that this was the
wrong way. So I have "added" 3 "comments" together with 3 "attachments" (the

Dear Julien Nabet,

thank you for your answer!

I have attached here #1 of 3 zip-files which contain everything to re-produce
what I have experienced when using LibreOffice. Since it is impossible to add
more than 1 file I shall return to this page twice only to add the remaining 2
files.

- file #1 = "Examples of autotext.zip" includes two texts in which the autotext
system is exemplified by me when trying to give the cuneiform sign LUGAL (which
is expressing the Sumerian word lugal meaning "king") in 4 different shapes of
the corresponding sign. The files in this zip-files are the original texts
("OpenOffice_lugal-0.doc" (produced by OpenOffice Writer 4.1.3) and
"LibreOffice_lugal-0.docx" (produced by LibreOffice 5.2.3.3(x64)) and two
sequences of jpg-files showing what is on the screen in these two files after
pressing F3 (the cursor posited at the end of each one of the 4 lines) and
selecting the cuneiform font fitting this line, and showing what is on the
screen after hitting OK.

One further feature of the autotext system of OpenOffice Writer and LibreOffice
Writer has been quoted in my report sent to you earlier; I am repeating this
here shortly. It is the possibility to pre-select the shape of the Cuneiform
signs (i.e. to pre-select which one of several .bau-files is expected to be
used throughout the actual new text) by selecting the autotext-menu (Ctrl-F3),
there clicking or double-clicking the selected .bau-file, then closing the
autotext-menu, and only then writing normal text and from time to time also
cuneiform signs. This feature is present in OpenOffice Writer while it is
absent from LibreOffice Writer.

One more remark: I did not find - in the autotext menu of LibreOffice Writer -
a point from which I could "import" an existing .bau-file into LibreOffice.
What I did is to copy these .bau-files from the \...\OpenOffice\...
subdirectory into the proper LibreOffice-subdirectory.

It would be very useful if in the next (stable) version of LibreOffice all
those features of OpenOffice would be included!

Kind regards,

Yours

Dr. Joachim Krecher

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 104361] New: :

2016-12-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104361

Bug ID: 104361
   Summary: :
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.3.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: joachim.krec...@t-online.de

When using the AutoText system, I have found a diffuculty in LibreOffice
(version 5.2.3.3 x64) which was not present in its "predecessor", the
OpenOffice program (version 4.1.3).

As a researcher of ancient Mesopotamian languages and scripts I am entering
"cuneiform" signs into the German (English . . .) text, which is easily
produced by using LibreOffice writer. So for instance I type "lugal" (without
quotation marks), then press F3, and then the letters l-u-g-a-l are replaced by
the corresponding cuneiform sign (which means "king" in Sumerian and which I
cannot produce here; in the Unicode system it identified by U+12217).
LibreOffice-Writer gets this sign from the file Urdrei20.bau (in C:\Program
Files\LibreOffice 5\share\autotext\de\).

But like all ancient and modern "hand-writings" there is not only 1 shape of
this sign LUGAL. And entering a cuneiform sign into a text written by latin
characters sometimes needs a big sign (20pt), sometimes a smaller on (12pt). So
in the path indicated above I have not only the file mentioned already but also
a file named Urdrei12.bau producing smaller signs. And furthermore there are
.bau-files with different names, e.g. Altbab12.bau, producing something like a
younger and more cursive shape of the same signs.

The "names" typed before pressing F3 are the same for all periods and sizes of
cuneiform signs.

Now if the writer-program discovers that then "name" of an autotext-sign is
present in more than one file the program is showing the names of all the
.bau-files which contain the "name" of the autotext-sign. Since I know which
are the shapes and sizes of the signs contained in these .bau-files I have a
choice between e.g. the sign in a early shape and in 20pt size OR the sign in
the same shape but in 12pt size OR the sign in a younger shape and an 12pt
size, and so on. By clicking on what I have selected the program will replace
the letters l-u-g-a-l by exactly that shape and size which I wanted to see on
the screen.

This is the behaviour of OpenOffice. But LibreOffice will always replace the
letters l-u-g-a-l by the shape and size as contained in the very first file of
the list "offered" to me although I had selected the 3rd possibility.

Furthermore when I know before "writing" the very first cuneiform sign in my
text WHICH SHAPE AND SIGN I WANT TO USE THROUGHOUT MY TEXT, in OpenOffice I
press Ctrl-F3 to see the autotext menu; there I click (or double-click) that
file which contains the shape and the size of signs I want to use, then close
this menu, and when I later write in my text the letters l-u-g-a-l and press F3
then exactly the shape and size of the cuneiform sign which I had preselected
will appear throughout my new text.

Which also does not function with LibreOffice.

Please try to introduce the possibilities of OpenOffice into LibreOffice!

Thank you!
