[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125999] Add button name to extended tooltips
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125999 --- Comment #6 from Ulf Zibis --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #5) > Good point, but what _name_ exactly would support you? There is the internal > unique variable ID (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Language#KeyID) > and we have label and (normal) tooltip. I'm happy that even one understands the problem I wanted to point on :-) As "button name" I meant the content of the normal tooltip, so that this term/phrase is available for both sides, even they have a different option set for the tooltips. It may look like this (short tooltip highlighted): - ! << Short tooltip >> ! ! Very lng! ! describing tooltip. ! - -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125999] Add button name to extended tooltips
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125999 --- Comment #4 from Ulf Zibis --- I have some coaching clients whom I support on using LO. For beginners I often have enabled the extended tooltips, so they better know what a button is doing. The problem then is, when they have questions via phone, they can't tell me the name of the button, they have questions on. For example in Calc there are three buttons for sorting. It's difficult to explain someone which button I mean, without knowing the name of the button. Even for me with some rarely used functions it would better to always the know the name to better remember it or find some info about it in the web. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125999] Add button name to extended tooltips
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125999 --- Comment #2 from Heiko Tietze --- (In reply to Ulf Zibis from comment #0) > With extended tooltips enabled I don't see this any more, but a longer > description. The tooltip shows up for me was a proper distance to the control and never (at least not always) overlaps. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125999] Add button name to extended tooltips
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125999 V Stuart Foote changed: What|Removed |Added Keywords||needsUXEval Blocks||108400 CC||libreoffice-ux-advise@lists ||.freedesktop.org, ||momonas...@gmail.com, ||vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu --- Comment #1 from V Stuart Foote --- Not a fan, and though currently Extended tips are out of service (bug 118148), Tooltip hints in the core label and the extended tips are complementary, combining the short tooltip/label with the more detailed 'extended' tip would not improve UX. And, as the extended tips is our mechanism for providing A11y support, sounding the Button name, the short tooltip, and the extended tip would become distracting/annoying for AT dependent users.
