That would be great, but we would still need an example ods file. So for now,
I'm closing this report. If the situation changes in a meaningful way, feel
free to change the report back to "unconfirmed".

Regarding the request for a spreadsheet illustrating the error, EVERY TIME I
have tried to "sanitize" my data, the error is no longer present aftwards, even
though the column of figures is still using the total brought over from another
tab.

However, that might be a moot issue because I had completely forgotten
something you told me previously: Hitting shift-ctrl-F9 will force a hard
recalculation of the whole spreadsheet. When I remember to try this, the total
reflects the correct amount. So, for whatever reason, Calc is not updating the
calculations until forced. Since I have this workaround now, you can close the
bug (unless you want to try to figure out why Calc is not automatically
updating calculations).

@TomC, you changed the report from INSUFFICIENTDATA back to UNCONFIRMED, but
you still have not provided a spreadsheet file.

I would suggest making a copy of your file, and then modify the data and
minimize the content of the spreadsheet file just enough to replicate the
problem; eliminate anything unrelated. Please see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Bugzilla/Sanitizing_Files_Before_Submission

I'll mark this as NEEDINFO.

I have the most recent version of Libre Office and am still experiencing the
incorrect formula result. I have included 2 new screenshots, the 1st of which
shows the formula used for the sum. The top # is a total brought over from
another tab in the same file. That is the one not being used in the
calculation.

Without example we can't do anything

Set status to NEEDINFO while you can create some example without your "personal
financial information"

If "once I make any kind of edit to the source tab/sheet" makes it recalculate
properly then it may also help to force a hard recalculation with Shift+Ctrl+F9
once.

Most likely the "number" you see is not numeric but text, SUM() and many other
numeric functions working on cell ranges ignore text cells.
Google Sheets is notoriously known to export bad documents. Without a sample
there's nothing we can do.

2022-11-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon

My theory is that something is happening to the file in passing it back & forth
between LibreOffice and Google Sheets. Again, I usually edit the spreadsheet in
the latter, but the totals in question are always correct.

Then when I later open the spreadsheet in LibreOffice, the cell referencing the
other tab/sheet is initially ignored in the SUM calculation. However, I'm
finding that once I make any kind of edit to the source tab/sheet, then
suddenly LibreOffice "sees" the total in that cell again, even if my edit made
no change to the value.

I attempted to create a sample spreadsheet that would reliably demonstrate the
issue, but was unable to duplicate the problem, even after passing the test
sheet back & forth between Google Sheets and LibreOffice.

So I'm at a loss to explain the problem that I'm seeing in my Budget
spreadsheet. Maybe something is just slightly different in the way the two
pieces of software safe the spreadsheet file?

Unable to attach the spreadsheet in question because it contains most of my
personal financial information. The screenshot .jpg initially attached
