You can enable it at Tools-Customize-Toolbars. The relevant toolbar called 'Text Object'. It would be good to have the font color and highlighting feature in the TEXT FORMATTING toolbar. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open a new document in WRITER 2. Go to the toolbar at the bottom and select TEXT (F2) 3. Draw a text box 4. Write Test into the textbox 5. Select this word Test Result: Go to the toolbar at the top and look for the font color icon. - It is not there. To change the color you need to choose the CHARATER icon or to go to FORMAT - CHARACTER and then to select the tab FONT EFFECTS. I think this is not user-friendly. This feature is also inconsistent. If you do the same in IMPRESS and DRAW you will have a FONT COLOR icon.
