Many thanks, so far I’ve not experienced the problem again, but to be truthful,
I haven’t had cause to use the programme in exactly the same way.
However I’m grateful for your help and interest in resolving the
issue.regards. MIke Parker

Hi Michael, please do not use your mail software to add comment to this bug
report, that make your comments very difficult to read. Prefer to write in the
webpage.

Did you work on an usb key when you experienced this problem ?
As said on TDF announces, versions x.y.0 are not for production use but only
for test and QA purpose. For production use, you should wait for a x.y.3
version (that is the third bugfix).

Best regards. JBF

--- Comment #8 from Dominique Boutry dominique.bout...@laposte.net ---
LibO 4.1.2.3 on Win7 :

After a number of trials and errors on the .ODT provided file, I manage to get
a situation which could be in relation with the present bug 70645. I had
noticed that the truncated text occured on the sole and unique paragraph with
direct formating in Dejavu Sans in the underlying Text Body native
paragraph style. After I tried to modify this paragraph style in the stylist,
Writer fell into an endless cycling error with undiscontinued disk activity.
After a few seconds I stopped abruptly the process (being afraid of what
happened to my PC), and I experimented then difficulties to recover the file,
in a new attempt to use Writer.

I'm just suggesting an area of search : modifying a standard template file,
which could have repercussions on other stored documents based on this
standard.

I'm unable to reproduce the sequence and to give more info for the time being.

--- Comment #9 from Michael Parker mspwooda...@talktalk.net ---
Many thanks Dominique for the time and trouble you are taking.
I understand most of the detail to which you refer and it does
look as though you were able to, more or less, reproduce the situation I
experienced.
If it will be of any help, I can mention that the Writer document
was started by first erasing an older piece of correspondence. The old text
appeared half way up, and in between, the logo and address panel with the email
address above that. It was not originated in this fashion but for some reason,
was stored this way.
The original letter, before erasure, was formed using Times New
Roman font name and font size 9. .The content of the original letter
was erased, i.e. the 1st. sheet of A4. However, text was typed on to a 2nd.
sheet, about a quarter of a page, but I'm unsure whether or not this was erased
at the same time as the 1st page, but my thoughts probably were, at the time,
that this did not matter, for if I required a 2nd sheet on which to continue,
then erasure could be done accordingly.
I made a decision, when I created the new text, to change the font
name and sizing, as you mentioned.
I wonder if trying to mix styles and sizing, together with erasing
an old document, was a sensible thing. With hindsight, it would be better to
start with a blank document only containing the logo and address. In the
interests of not reproducing the same problem again, it would sensible not to
try again my original method of creation. I can understand that any new
document being created could be confused by any such changes.
I hope this information is of help.
   Sincerely.Mike Parker

As originally stated this file was partially completed with text and saved. It
was reopened again later in its original form and was added to with additional
text. After adding approximately 8 lines, the whole of the text of the letter
was suddenly erased leaving the original logo and address as you see it in this
file. No keying errors were committed, nor were there any warnings that the
whole text might be erased.
The original named stored file in My Documents, as you see it
above, was still there but all the original and added text was erased leaving
the logo and address as you see it now in the file.
I searched all likely areas of possible storage of this
document, to no avail. I had to originate a complete new document via a stand
alone p.c. using Word. There was no difficulty with originating, storing, and
recovery using this alternative.
I doubt very much whether you will be able to simulate the
difficulties experienced with LibreOffice, I expect the above file will not
hold sufficient information.
However, many thanks for your help and interest, so far.

Sincerely.Mike Parker
