[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115311] New: UI missing for nesting character styles

2018-01-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115311

Bug ID: 115311
Summary: UI missing for nesting character styles
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
   URL: http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/144399
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de

The specification explicitly allows nesting of elements. Thereby
character styles are put on top of each other without introducing an
inheritance. Files where this is used work fine and in using hard formatting it
works fine too. Only in using styles it fails and the surrounding style is
removed.

In testing for https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/144399 I noticed, that
nesting is possible using shift+doubleClick in version Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+
(x64)
Build ID: facfc2951ea9f4745edd4a6fb1cf97697f33f40a
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default;
TinderBox: Win-x86_64@62-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2018-01-14_00:42:04
Locale: de-DE (de_DE); Calc: CL

But that seems to work accidentally.

So my request is, that a UI is added to put a character style on top of another
by nesting elements.

There is likely a better method than shift+doubleClick, especially as
accessibility has to be considered too.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 72944] LibreOffice unable to correctly handle font styles on Windows

2018-01-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72944

With LibreOffice 6.x, the minimum supported Windows version is now Windows 7
SP1. So, LibreOffice could use DirectWrite to access styles: "The DirectWrite
font model follows the common typographic practice of supporting any number of
weights, styles, and stretches in the same font family. This model, the same
model followed by WPF and CSS, specifies that fonts differing only in weight
(bold, light, and so on), style (upright, italic, or oblique) or stretch
(narrow, condensed, wide, and so on) are considered to be members of a single
font family."

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115312] New: [NEWHELP] Make NewHelp makefiles build only right XHP files

2018-01-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115312

Bug ID: 115312
Summary: [NEWHELP] Make NewHelp makefiles build only right XHP
files
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: olivier.hal...@documentfoundation.org

Description:
Current implementation of new help Makefiles

helpcontent2/CustomTarget_html.mk

applies the XSLT transformation to all xhp files (*.xhp).

However, many xhp files are not a Help page per se but often source of embed
for other help pages.

The actual help pages to be processed are described in these makefiles:

AllLangHelp_sbasic.mk
AllLangHelp_scalc.mk
AllLangHelp_schart.mk
AllLangHelp_sdatabase.mk
AllLangHelp_sdraw.mk
AllLangHelp_shared.mk
AllLangHelp_simpress.mk
AllLangHelp_smath.mk
AllLangHelp_swriter.mk

Therefore, CustomTarget_html.mk should use the makefiles above instead of *.xhp
with reduction of the processing time and also to trigger a rebuild on change
of the xhp's listed in the AllLangHelp_*.mk files.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. make CustomTarget_hmtl

Actual Results:
a set oh html help pages bigger than needed...

Expected Results:
set of html help page actually needed.

Reproducible: Always

Dammit, this still isn't the whole story. The issue (also) arises with to many
windows minimised to the dock. At the point where the icons are shrinking.. :(

1) Opened 15 blank documents
2) Minimise them all to the dock

Sounds really strange. Do you by any chance use a laptop with a touchpad? The
thing you described usually happens to me, if I have tapping-as-a-click in the
touchpad enabled and my hand accidentally brushes the touchpad.

Hi All,

As Jay noted in comment 4 the Area background tab page can be used as a base
for the highlight and background tab pages by disabling various tabs within it
(hatch, pattern, bitmap, etc).

Attached are screen shots that show the purposed highlight tab page for the
character dialog and background tab page for the table properties dialog.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115314] New: base connection to Oracle db is slow

2018-01-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115314

Bug ID: 115314
Summary: base connection to Oracle db is slow
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jkm...@gmail.com

Description:
I use LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 in Ubuntu 16.04. I installed and tried jre1.8.0_74
jre1.8.0_152 jre1.7.0_80 openjdk 1.8.0_151. Also, I increased the memory for
300MB for libreoffice, and 50MB for per object.

When I sign in to a remote oracle 11g XE database on the local network with hr
user(has sysdba role), it takes like 30 seconds or so to complete the login.
After I get 50 or 200 initial rows from a table with select statemetn, if I go
to the end of the table by clicking the end arrow with about 80K rows or so, it
takes 4-5 minutes to retrieve the rows.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.connect to oracle 11G XE db on local network
2.sign in remotely with base to the oracle db
3.select rows from a table and then use the end arrow button to get last rows.

Actual Results:
Logging in takes about 30 seconds
Retrieving or going to the last rows from a big table like 80K or so takes 4-5
minutes.

Expected Results:
Should be lot quicker than this

Reproducible: Always

Hard to say. But Miklos was already well versed with Google's pdfium project
having adopted it for the PDF insert filter. And restoring a "break" feature or
replacing the import filter completely already requires doing something along
these lines of implementing a skia PDF backend -- see bug 106581

I beleive there is some consensus building that a FreeType everywhere approach
is the way forward cross platform.

Again for the devs to decide, but printing and export to PDF will likely need
to be refactored cross platform anyhow. Support for OTF Variable fonts comes
with it.

In further response to comment 8...

Yesterday, I submitted bug 115301 "textbox text shifted relative to graphic
objects when updated from Fedora 25 to Fedora 26.". The last two attachments
to that bug:
* "shows the slide after the upgrade to Fedora 26." (screen capture; jpeg
file))
* "shows the slide after the upgrade to Fedora 26, but zoomed in 250%" (screen
capture, jpeg file)
were both created in the past few days (very late January 2018). Those screen
captures show the transparencies of the objects in the slide to be something
other than "none". That slide was created and last saved over a year ago with
all objects having transparency set to "none". So, yes, I'm still experiancing
the problem reported in this bug (105424).

Do we really want to use Skia? Working with is apparently a very painful

There is no internal UI for working with OpenType 1.8 OTF Variable fonts. Work
flows would need to be altered as would printing and export.

Why would we change over to Source Sans Variable now? Absent correct handling
of the variable font--we would get an arbitrary and likely unusable rendering
of the font--or more likely a fall-back to another on system font. We'd just be
wasting space in the deployment package.

Until such time as support for OTF 1.8.2 "fvar" (bug 103596) is implemented
substituting this or any other variable font makes no sense.

Duping this to bug 103596, as only when that enhancement is undertaken would it
make sense to adopt any variable font.

after that I used the safe mode (which is included in that pop-up screen), to
also reset the userprofile (the last radio-button)

neither did help, although I must admit that I did not restart the machine in
between;

I could try and remove the program again and erase the user profile, and
reinstall - would that help?

on itself it's no big deal - just another click to get rid of the pop-up screen
- which is annoying, but that's all - the programm functions fine

Users being able to modify the highlighting is the most important thing, so i'd
stick with this by default.

We already give users the 'Confirm File Format' dialog when not saving to ODF,
which does state 'This document may contain formatting or content that cannot
be saved in the currently selected file format'. We could go beyond this, if
devs are interested in implementing it, and create a dialog similar to the MS
compatibility checker.

Bug ID: 115321
Summary: Vertical Japanese text lines with emphasis mark above
in odt exported to PDF is shown a quarter font height
lower than the normal lines, and no emphasis mark is
shown
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: himajin100...@gmail.com

Description:
Open the attached odt
Export To PDF(the result is attached)

the attached pdf is exported version of the attached odt but uncompressed by:
qpdf --stream-data=uncompress in.pdf out.pdf

all the characters in the odt is in 20pt

When you open that pdf in text editor(Of course you can open it in hex editor,
if you don't mind unreadability from not caring newlines),

you will see the following lines
BT
1 0 0 1 575.3 824.1 Tm /F1 20 Tf<01>Tj
1 0 0 1 575.3 804.1 Tm<02>Tj

so the differences in y-value of the matching positions in two lines are

824.1 - 819.1 = 5
804.1 - 799.1 = 5
784.1 - 779.1 = 5

all the same: 5 , *which should be 0 instead.*

emphasis mark is seemingly not exported to PDF

Differences between the adjacent characters in the same line, such as 824.1 -
804.1 were the same as the font size: 20

these relationship did not change when I set 12pt for the characters.

differences in matching positions was all 3, and the differences in the same
line were the font size:12

from I've seen, I guess this is coming from this thing-y.
https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/vcl/source/outdev/font.cxx?r=55f07d4d#1094

Expected result should have emphasis mark on the right side of the characters
instead of top side. But possibly export to pdf does not consider this, and
emphasis marks to be shown were somehow clipped?

Steps to Reproduce:
Open the attached odt
Export To PDF
see description

Actual Results:
see description

Expected Results:
see description

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 115322] New: FORMATTING: Drawing object size values change to near value when object is deselected /reselected.

2018-01-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=115322

Bug ID: 115322
Summary: FORMATTING: Drawing object size values change to near
value when object is deselected/reselected.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dooq...@gmail.com

Description:
When using millimeters as the unit of measurement, size values typed into
Position and Size panel do not remain as typed and are instead changed to a
near value. For example, a width value of '8' or '8.00', whether typed or
arrived at through the spinner buttons, will change to '7.87 mm' if the object
is deselected and then selected again.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Draw a horizontal line object.
2. Make sure that the line object is selected. If not, then select it.
3. In the Width field on the Position and Size panel, type '8.00' or just '8'
4. Change field focus.
5. Deselect line object, then reselect.

Actual Results:
Width field contains '7.87 mm'.

Expected Results:
Width field should contain '8.00 mm'.

Reproducible: Always
