Hi All,

I'm noticing quite a few QA members using REOPENED incorrectly so this
is just a reminder.

REOPENED is for a bug that has been marked as FIXED by a developer and
is currently assigned to that developer. It is *_not _*for a bug that
has been marked as WORKSFORME (ie. never confirmed or a bug that we
think was fixed but a developer never said this). For these bugs the
bug should be put back to UNCONFIRMED with a comment.

Please make sure to do this (currently we have a couple hundred
reopened bugs that I have to manually check to see if they are
correct). Also when closing a bug as WORKSFORME please tell the user
to set the bug to UNCONFIRMED if they can still reproduce (and not
just say reopen the bug if you can still confirm - as they then put
the bug in REOPENED status which is again...not correct).

I know it's a bit confusing but it is what it is.

Best,
Joel

[Libreoffice-qa] Heading 3 and 4 in grey

2014-08-02 Thread Jay Philips
Hi All,

An individual has opened two bugs regarding 4.2's change of heading 3
and 4 to gray from black. Sophie closed the first one and the user is
still adamant about this issue and has posed the following questions in
the second bug.

Who introduced the new default style? What reasons had they to change?
Have users been asked whether they approve of it? Or is there a small
group of people who like to change things on a whim?

Unless you (Joel) plan to block users (including the person who submitted

I wonder if once we will have our own bugzilla it will be possible to have
a REVERT STATUS item which will automatically revert the status to the
one that was previously selected.

sometime a WFM is given to an UNCONFIRMED bug or to a NEW bug or even to a
NEEDINFO bug.

having a REVERT would reset the status quo avoding this kind of
inconsistencies.

I don't know if this is technically feasible.

moreover we should tweak the bugzilla to avoid that WFM - REOPENED
transition and limit that chance only to FIXED bugs.

as said before, most of the users (including me) thought (and willi
probably keep thinking) that the WFM - REOPEN was legitimate and logical

 Steps to reproduce:

 1. Start your Android device
 2. Install Impress Remote either via Playstore or - better - via F-

 3. Start your installed LO Impress
 4. Either create a small presentation or open an existing one
 5. Start Impress Remote on your Android device
 6. On your desktop PC, Laptop, whatever: Go to Slide Show - Impress
 Remote

In Impress Remote, you should see the name of your desktop PC,
netbook, whatever or its operating system. But you do not see
anything in LO's Impress Remote dialog ... :( With LO Version:
 4.1.6.2 Build-ID: 40ff705089295be5be0aae9b15123f687c05b0a (also with

Whould someone be so kind to check, if it the same with iOS, please?

Hi Tommy, all

Tommy wrote

It obviously needs a solution. If REOPENED is reserved for developers (and
in that case it should be visible ONLY for them) then there has to be an
equally meaningful status that common users can select when someone changes
to WFM and the user does not agree.

I also realize that Developers prefer that Bugs should not be REOPENED
because it is unlikely that the bug a user finds now is exactly the same
problem that was solved before (even if the apparent result is the same and
therefore the bug description is the same). They prefer that a new bug
report is open. This is a major clue that REOPENED shouldn't even be visible
to users...

Maybe have an option so that when someone changes to WFM, then the user can
change to MOREINFO, and adds additional info.

Well, maybe someone volunteers to watch bugs that changed state to REOPENED
recently and checks if they are in the right state.

Here is a query that does that for the last month:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/buglist.cgi?list_id=452344chfieldto=Nowquery_format=advancedchfield=bug_statuschfieldfrom=1mchfieldvalue=REOPENEDbug_status=REOPENEDproduct=LibreOffice

returning 24 bugs moving into REOPENED, so less than ~1 bug per day.

FWIW, watching this might even be a QA EasyHack, if someone wants to write and
mentor that.

Best,

Yeah. FWIW in an ideal work with unlimited development and QA ressources it
would be like this:

- developer puts bug in state RESOLVED/FIXED, when this is fixed on any branch
- user/QA checks the fix is working as expected and if it is, moves the bug to
VERIFIED/FIXED. Otherwise, the developer is notified and the bug stays in
RESOLVED/FIXED for clarification with the developer. If the developer agrees
the fix is incomplete, he moves the bug back to REOPENED.
- upon release of the software from the branch containing the fix, all VERIFIED
bugs move to CLOSED. Only those fixes and features (which are verified and
  released) are advertised.

Except ... we dont have the ressources for such a workflow yet (and I doubt we
should fully aim for that, as it is quite a costly way to run things). OTOH
some more verifying of fixes and prerelease testing wouldnt be a Bad Thing.

IMHO, just regluarly watching the bugs that were recently moved to REOPENED
should work well on a practical level for now though.

[Libreoffice-qa] Bug 81968

2014-08-02 Thread Algot Runeman
Can somebody with a Windows system check the test file on this bug
report 91968?
I think it may be a problem with the submitter's system (which I've

doesn't cause an issue on a Windows system (don't have one).

Would it be more appropriate to ask this of the QA team on IRC?

Thanks.
