[LIB] Li-ion cells for Lib 100/110 battery packs

As those of you who have rebuilt the packs know, it has six Panasonic CGR17670HC cells. These same cells are available from Sabaoceanic in a pack of 10 for $84, including shipping. Five guys could buy 3 ten-packs and each get the cells they need to rebuild the battery pack for just over $50. Since I just got a replacement battery, I'm not currently interested in doing this. That could best be determined from recent ebay sales. I have a toshiba libretto 70ct in perfect condition. It has 16mb ram, 640x480 active matrix screen, 1.6gb hard drive, 120mhz un-overclocked cpu (overclockable). There are no bad sectors on the HD, no severe case damage, but a little wear and tear and a scuff or two on the plastic is to be expected. On a scale of 1-10, I'd say it's a 9.5. Specs at: http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ It comes with a lot of accessories, both the mini port replicator to snap onto the back of it to give it printer, serial, and video out, the enhanced port replicator with all of the above, plus keyboard, mouse, power, and a Type III pcmcia slot, on top of the Type II inside of the libretto itself. You can have /both/ a type III and a Type II at teh same time, which is better than what most laptops have which is two Type II or one type III at a time. It has a leather Targus zippered carrying case, ac adapter, cappying case for ac adapter from Toshiba. It'll come with your choice of one of teh two, either a PCMCIA 56k modem, or a 3com 10base-t / coax ethernet card. I have to keep one of those two for connectivity with my new laptop, but you can choose one of those two for this package. Here's the kicker. Most libretto offers you'll have have dead batteries. The battery packs won't hold a charge for more than a few minutes. Go ahead, ask how much life the batteries have in your other offers. My libretto comes with a dead battery pack, which is rebuildable, but I never got around to it, PLUS, a /brand new/ 1200mAh battery pack. I only charged it and used it three times, so it has a bunch of milage left on it! You cannot get a better deal than this. I'm asking $325 for the whole backage, because of the accessories and the battery. Shipping extra. Yes, 70ct's go on ebay cheaper than $300, but thay have little or no accessories. The first person to offer and send me $325, get's a free 24x pcmcia cd-rom drive for the libretto. It's a tad flakey and you have to eject it a couple of times and re-insert the tray before it'll recegonize the disc. But after that it'll work just fine. (I've been using it for a couple of years, I would keep it, but the new laptop has a built in cd-rom drive, so I don't need this one) Will come with Win 98 pre-installed. I'm selling it because I have a newer laptop and will probably never use this again. I only need one laptop. I'm located in the Seattle WA area, give me a call if you want. 253-770-7161 Better call me now, I'm leaving Wed morning for a one week vacation at a convention in Vegas. If you're heading to that same convention, Defcon X, you can pay me cash for it if you want. [LIB] Yet more Klez
Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 20:12:26 + From: Matthew Hanson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Yet more Klez It seems at least one or two other listers received one or more of the same infected emails that I got from the NetVision server spoofing some of our list member's addresses. I've been getting these just about daily now. Today's installment purports to be from Ex Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak! Does this header look familiar to anyone: Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 13:26:23 +0300 (IDT) From: Barak [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: A new website To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] My address on the same computer as one with Baraks address? I suppose its certainly possible. But if Neils theory about these coming from a computer belonging to a list member is a possibility, who has my address and Baraks address on their system? Has anyone else received this one? It seems like Klez is also smart enough to dig through non-email related files on a host system for information. It certainly finds small text and graphic files to attach as a second file. I wonder if any virus research groups have really established what all the Klez and Ninda viruses are capable of. What are the odds that it would pick Barak's address out of the many email addresses on a system? In more than 10 years of using computers on networks Ive never seen the same virus come in infected email to my mailbox from the same server on a daily basis. The few Ive received over the years have come in one email once. Ive never gotten them daily like these recent posts. So why not use something else? The problem isn't that WE are using Outlook. The problem is that whoever is INFECTED is using Outlook and unfortunately has Nick's (or whoever's been spoofed's) email address in THEIR address book. That's the problem with this virus, it pretends to be from other people (in this case it pretends to be from Nick) so the actual infection is a lot harder to trace, especially if the email servers along the way don't mark the email. I could be using the Pine mail client and Nick could be using the Elm mail client (both about as virus proof as you could get as far as this sort of stuff is concerned) but if a salesman who's got both our emails is using Outlook and is infected, Nick could get a flood of Klez virus emails that look like they're from me and vice versa, and if the email servers along the way don't mark the emails, he'd have no way of knowing they were NOT from me (unless of course he knew that the Klez virus actually does this). - Raymond --- /~\ | | Does fuzzy logic tickle?| | ___ | My HDD has no reverse. It has it's own email sending code so once it infects a computer, it looks for ALL address books regardless of if you use Outlook, Eudora, Netscape or any webmail service (assuming you've got a cached local copy of your address book) and spoofs one to send to the rest. Of course, if you only telnetted into the mailserver and kept your address book on a remote computer (preferrably Linux/Unix/something not vulnerable to Klez) then you couldn't be the source of the infection but that STILL doesn't stop someone else's infected computer from sending emails in your name ... *sigh* - Raymond --- /~\ | | Does fuzzy logic tickle?| | ___ | My HDD has no reverse. I'm putting in a 20 gb next week, I might need your help, I think I'm installing W2k, so I wouldn't have the overlay problem?? thank you, again carval -- On Tue, 30 Jul 2002 03:30:19 Raymond wrote: Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 03:21:52 -0700 From: Raymond [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [LIB] HD Crashed When did you purchase the hard drive and was it a Toshiba? I do know that Toshiba has a bad batch of 20 gig laptop hard drives flying round the last month or 3 (they work fine then make a rhythmic clunking sound then die, you take them out and shake them then plug them back in and they start working again for a few hours). To the extent that we've now got a shortage of 20 gig laptop hard drives in Western Australia because of all the laptop hard drives that have needed to be replaced. Either way, the overlay shouldn't have made any difference (in that if it did, the hard drive would not have been in too good a shape anyway because as far as the hard drive is concerned, it's just getting basic IO calls, it doesn't care if it comes from an original BIOS routine or one that's overlayed it). - Raymond Quoting car val [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2002 05:15:35 -0400 From: car val [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: HD Crashed Hi I was using a overlay sofaware to see my whole HD, it crashed today, it has a clunking noise, it gone?? Could I have cause it by doing a scandisk and defrag on it?? It crashed during the defrag?? RE: [LIB] Klez/etc
Date: Wed, 31 Jul 2002 05:00:24 + From: Matthew Hanson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [LIB] Klez/etc From: Raymond [EMAIL PROTECTED] In fact, it just occurs to me, this virus isn't Outlook specific anyway. It has it's own email sending code so once it infects a computer, it looks for ALL address books regardless of if you use Outlook, Eudora, Netscape or any webmail service (assuming you've got a cached local copy of your address book) and spoofs one to send to the rest. Not only address books, it goes through many (all??) other of the system's files looking for email addresses: http://bulletin.ninemsn.com.au/bulletin/eddesk.nsf/All/A3D3842B1C03DC94CA256B640019A051 Once Klez has infected you it scours your computer's hard drive looking for email addresses. The addresses don't need to be anywhere in particular; they might be in a word-processing document, a memo or even in your email address book. I wonder if Klez is gleaning email addresses from the temporary Internet files dir: C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files For kicks I did a search on that folder and subs for my email address and came up with 65 results. I noticed that Hotmail leaves files there named: getmsg[#].html. So I did a search there for getmsg*.html, then sorted them by time/date, and came up with Hotmail messages from the list from the following list members: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Now I can reason out how my address and Ehud Baraks email address may have been found on the same computer if Klez is able to go through more than just an email programs files. Some NetVision user and list member could have been reading a local newspaper article online.
