On a machine with 64 meg it is equivilant to a 32meg 70 CT running Win98. With 32 meg it would be very slow if it ran at all. You can get the 32 meg upgrade modual on ebay and it is highly recommended for XP. Get the ram upgrade and try it. You'll be very pleased. Re: [LIB] Problem Device
Date: Thu, 02 Jan 2003 20:40:10 + From: Matthew Hanson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [LIB] Problem Device From: Chester Prudhomme [EMAIL PROTECTED] I use PhotoDeluxe v1.0, I think there are at least two newer versions, v2.0 v3.0. I have Service Pack 3 on my W2K install. I found out there where were PhotoDeluxe versions from 1.0 to 4.0. There was info on the Adobe site about problems installing 4.0 with W2K. The fix was to use a newer version of W2K. So maybe SP3 would do the job. I don't know which version she has, and since I'm not available to help her upgrade the OS now, maybe installing a different version of PD would work. I looked at the IBM Microdrives but they seemed kind of fragile to me. The USB key drive seemed handier and more universal to me especially across platforms. Well, within a week after it arrived, I managed to drop my NEX II onto a cement walk, and everything survived. But a good deal of that was probably due to the nice little Jack O'Neil style 'wetsuit' Frontier Labs was thoughtful enough to design and provide. That neoprene material is a great shock absorber! BTW: I got a nice little IRock wireless music adapter that broadcasts output of audio players to 4 FM bands on an auto radio. I did a lot of driving recently, and was able to play selections from my MP3 collection on the Lib the entire time with Winamp, as well as having Delorme SA and a Garmin GPS keeping track of where I was. I got quite handy at blindly operating keyboard controls one handed for both, as well as using alt-tab to select between the two apps. I'd just feel for the right keys, and do things like stopping map tracking (Alt, g, arrow down 3 times, Enter), and zooming out past where tracking won't allow (Fn-PgUp) to get an idea of where I was on a large scale. A bit like playing the piano. Though I need to set up WinAmp for keyboard controls, I was able to us the Lib's mouse pretty well to stop MP3 play, toggle to SA, and hit Ins to have the next turn info read to me through the IRock adapter into the car's radio. I had a great time listening to MP3s. There's something terrific about having so much time to get the chance to listen carefully to a lot of music in a car like that. I selected the entire folder of new MP3s, and it played tunes in a pseudo random order. It was fun to hear what would be played next. The long drive seemed to zip along in no time. The IRock did have a few problems with transmitting clearly in areas where all 4 FM frequencies were used by strong local stations. I'm wondering if putting a switch in the antenna line to disconnect the external antenna might help. Then there were times where the white or pink noise emitted from the Lib spilled into the IRock transmission. The adapter's 6-7 inch cable is its antenna. I'm wondering if there would be any way to extend it out from the Lib with some kind of cable that would get beyond the reach for the Lib's sphere of noise broadcast. But the overall range of frequencies the IRock was able to transmit seemed to be a while lot better than what I used to get with those old cassette on a wire type adapters years back. Use the electromagnetic waver repression core that comes with the Libretto 100 or 110. Not sure if 50 and 70 have it also. It helped my speakers when I had alot of interference from other units in my room. -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ - Archives ---TO UNSUBSCRIBE--- Reply to any of the list messages. Anything to report on this? I've had the same problem with SE, not that it's any problem. However I've found that my installations of SE on my L100 are a lot more unstable than W98 on my L50/70s. Am wondering if your fix might fix that unstability. Matt Back to where this thread started... My original post was: :Poking around my L100, I found this registry key referenced under Problem :Devices in System Information: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\enum\ACPI\*TOS6200\0 :with :the notation :Driver Not Installed :Ever since I installed W98se, I've had the big yellow question mark in Device :Manager, labeled Other Device with no additional detail. I assume it is :related to the Problem Device. I did a Google search on the registry entry :and came up with a post on Xin Yeng's site, :http://www.fixup.net/talk/archive/200202/0744.htm where there's a :reference to this Tosh driver: z6kacp2.exe, titled Toshiba ACPI Common :Modules for Windows 98SE, 2000 (v3.00.07;02-01-2002; 1.4M). :I've downloaded it and will probably try installing it, but hoped to get some :input from list members first. Has anyone seen this problem and/or installed :this ACPI patch? Thanks. I ran the Tosh utility, and the big yellow ? is gone from Device Manager! And msconfig shows No Problem Devices! A tentative hoorah! Now the howevers: after the last reboot of this utility's install, there was a new icon on the taskbar, next to the hairy lightbulb. Hovering the mouse over it gave the message Stop SD Card which I tried to do, but was denied. So ran msconfigstartup and found 2 new lines: 000StTHK and ThorKEY. After unchecking those and rebooting, the mystery icon is gone, and so far everything *seems* to be OK. I have a fresh image waiting to be restored, just in case things go sideways. [LIB] IRock FM adapter
Date: Fri, 03 Jan 2003 02:55:48 + From: Matthew Hanson [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: IRock FM adapter From: Tom Stangl [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Archos list has been talking about the iRock lately, and someone has mentioned that battery strength is key to its' transmission. One guy actually soldered in a cig ltr adapter to power it, instead of batteries, and said that ALL of his weak signal problems are now gone. I wonder if a set of LiIon AAA rechargeables with their slightly higher voltage would boost the transmitted signal. One set of alkaline AAAs did die during my trip, and only one frequency would work. All 4 were resurrected with a fresh set I brought for just that contingency. So it does seem to be a bit voltage sensitive. ...Shmatt _ The new MSN 8 is here: Try it free* for 2 months http://join.msn.com/?page=dept/dialup ** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ - Archives ---TO UNSUBSCRIBE--- Reply to any of the list messages. When there is a strong broadcast signal on each of the 4 FM frequencies, would it help the car's radio get better reception from the adapter by pulling the car's antenna out of the radio, and inserting an on/off switch and a 2nd antenna wire to the radio? yes Recall of course that 100MHz band radio laughs at DC switches - you need to arrange it so that the incoming aeriel is grounded or terminated in its characteristic impedance - probably 75 ohms - when the widget is required. If you don't do this, there's a likelihood of transmitting your own material using the car aeriel.
