Re: Hebrew on Evolution (was: kde)

If I am not mistaking Evo uses gtkhtml to render the message + the message
editor. If I recall gtkhtml does not support logical hebrew/bidi. They refuse
using Gecko for some reason.

I don't think that gtkhtml will be able to support bidi in the future, so I
think the best option we have is that Ximian will decide using Gecko for
Evo2, or someone will hack it by itself and send the patches to ximian.

kmail still rocks :)

 No go.
 Same problem.
 They have right justification but I don't see no bidi option.

   As you see from the above. (Visual Hebrew charset)

   Am I missing something? (I'm using the 1.4 release.)

  Might I suggest that you use a charset name that is used with logical
  Hebrew?

ISO-8859-8-i
windows-1255

They consider gtkhtml to be less featurefull (but just enough for casual HTML
mail) and thus less exploitable.

I repeat again -- Ximian has the intention to add BiDi support to gtkhtml;
Larry Ewig of Ximian told me they're going to add it in a few months.

What you COULD do is to learn what Bonobo interfaces are implemented by
GtkHTML and create a Bonobo component which implements those interfaces using
Mozilla/Composer. (I recall there was a Vi plugin for Evolution 1.2 made in
such fashion.)
