I have the same problem on my linux desktops and laptop (SuSE 7.2, 7.3

received suggestions about reinstalling fonts, but this did not solve
 the problem for me.

Browsing the OO mailing list archives showed that there were other users
with similar problem but no definitive fix, at least not at the time I
 looked over the archive.

Found it!

Jump over to the Toolsmenu /Auto Correct/Custom Quotes. Then unselect the
'replace' checkbox in the Double Quotes pane.

Now I need to see if gphoto2 is finally supporting a Nikon CoolPix 990
over the USB. Last I checked it was iffy at best. It does not appear as
a disk. Instead, there is a command set to control it. There are libs,
but I think the USB stuff was not too good last time I tried. I just will
say 'no' to running 'INSTALL'.

Its a fscking text file, its not going to do anything. You *read*
INSTALL, you don't execute it. Did you bother reading the aptly named
README, which instructs you to then read the INSTALL??

Whaa?? I've never seen any instructions for any package anywhere that
suggested running a install-sh. Once again, RTFM.

 Tried Lonnie's ./configure

Which means what exactly? Can you be any more vague?

gphoto2 USB access

2002-06-07 Thread Tom Condon

Folks,

My SuSE 8.0 installation included gphoto gphoto2, so they are there.
The usb ports used for the camera connection (/dev/usb/dc2xx0 according
to gphoto2), however, were all owned by root and group root. So, of
course, my user doesn't happen to have access to them. I can access
and download the files as root, but I prefer not to do that. I changed
the ports (dc2xx) to be root/users ownership, but still don't have
access when logged in as a normal user.

Currently my /dev/usb directory looks like this:

2002-06-07 Thread Matthew Carpenter

I have little USB camera experience, but when setting up my dad's MDC8000
for him, it was as simple as plugging it in and telling gphoto what and
where is was (/dev/usb/mdc8000), which was exactly like what I did for the
serial-connection.

Now I need to see if gphoto2 is finally supporting a Nikon CoolPix 990

a disk. Instead, there is a command set to control it. There are libs,
but I think the USB stuff was not too good last time I tried. I just
will say 'no' to running 'INSTALL'.

gentoo

2002-06-07 Thread Ted Ozolins

Every step has gone off wouthout a hitch (once I figured out and Collins
pointed out the change to make.conf) However, kdelibs-3.0.1 barfs during
compile. At first it complains about the end of file at end of line (new line
added) then I get
in file from libdecore_la.all_cpp.cpp:23:
kcharset.cpp:420:warning #warning FIXME?
after that the compile barfs. I have not as of yet looked at the offending
code but, I guess I'll have to to get KDE compiled.

XFCE comes up nicely (this will be the default) but I do need some of the
goodies that come with kde. I then tried gnome to see if it compile ok and it
does. Onward I guess:-)

kde and qt are a pain in the butt on any distro. I've been watching
the messages fly by (broken, fixed, etc.), but it hasn't become stable
enough that I wanted to try it again. You need to monitor (or
subscribe) gentoo-users on a regular basis to figure out what works
and what doesn't.

Slimy dogs! I didn't even know that something if fstab would affect the
USB devices. But there it is:

usbdevfs/proc/bus/usb usbdevfsnoauto 0 0

So, the obvious answer to me was that I should change the usbdevfs to
have the user option set. But the same error message resulted when it
was changed to:
