As a general rule it's better to send to the list owner rather than to the list to test blocks and other connectivity problems. If you use kmail then it's a pretty yellow banner for an untrusted key and a pretty green banner for a trusted key and a really ugly red banner for microsoft security bulletins because they changed there key or something.
