I'm a skilled Php developer with strong web standards knowledge. I have a working closed-source standards-compliant CMS that I'm rewriting a bit and moving to an OSS project: http://nornix.sourceforge.net/ https://sourceforge.net/projects/nornix There's no Php source uploaded for now, but you can find some of it inside the API documentation: http://nornix.sourceforge.net/api/ (pre-alpha!) In the downloads area and SVN repository you can find a CSS/JS treemenu that is part of Nornix CMS. I share almost all the goals of the Fidelis project. Moving this to cms [at] webstandardsgroup.org. All follow-ups should be directed there instead. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I intend to go about this by producing an open source, standards based CMS. I've done some web develoment and have taken a couple of post-grad web subjects so i have a working knowledge of [X]HTML, PHP, CSS and XML plus and understanding of the DOM but I am far from a guru. PS Since most things like this have already been done, feel free to point me at an existing package that is standards compliant, open source and simple. A few friends and I started development of an open source, standards based CMS much like what you describe about a year and half ago and the project is finally starting to get underway, after being put on hold for a bit. On 5/30/06, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I intend to go about this by producing an open source, standards based CMS. Hi Alex, Believe it or not, there is a separate WSG list just for discussing standards-based CMS systems. I doesn't get a great deal of traffic at the moment - feel free to revive it! - but all the people who have a particular interest in the topic will most likely be subscribed - and for anyone who didn't realise it was there who's interested, go sign up now! To get on (or off) the CMS list, log into the WSG site and click "edit your login details and mail list subscriptions". Because discussion of content management systems inevitibly gets into implementation details (back end code and databases etc) it's off-topic for this list. But perfectly on-topic over on the CMS list. [WSG] SEC: UNCLASSIFIED:-
Hi all, Backing up from Peter Firminger's invitation for newbies with no clue to have a crack at the list here I go. I think standards based development is great and I think so for two main reasons first, accessibility and second because Google gives you heaps of cred in your search position for being compliant [in my experience]. I want to make life easier for non-technical people to produce standards-based web sites with the intention of inresasing the number of compliant web sites published. I intend to go about this by producing an open source, standards based CMS. I've done some web develoment and have taken a couple of post-grad web subjects so i have a working knowledge of [X]HTML, PHP, CSS and XML plus and understanding of the DOM but I am far from a guru. I am hoping to find a few like minded people from here and OSIA that might like to get involved. I am prepared to put some finance into the plan but would rather make it volunteer / community based and think that the best contribution that I can make to the process is to manage the project since that is really my skill. At this time I have a concept and have done some of a specification. Would it be more appropriate to call for people to email me if interested of just post to the list questions that arise as I finalise the spec? PS Since most things like this have already been done, feel free to point me at an existing package that is standards compliant, open source and simple. The closest I have found is text pattern but really that is a blog. One other thing that I am considering is making the backend XML based so that it doesn't require any database server software running. I'm not sure that this has been done and feel that there might be a benefit if the project ever goes into the compact framework / mobile arena. Sorry if this was a long winded way of saying hi..Hi.
