Re: [OzSilverlight] RE: Deep Zoom Problems

2008-06-26 Thread Craig Dunn
What limitations are you facing with Deep Zoom? and how do you want us to
fix them should they exist?

Not sure this is a DeepZoom limitation or an 'understanding' limitation...
re: manually tracking zoom

http://silverlightearth.com/2b2/ now supports direct
search/linkinghttp://conceptdev.blogspot.com/2008/06/silverlightdeepzoomearth-beta-3.htmlsuch
as show
Sydney at zoom 15 with Google Topo map
tileshttp://silverlightearth.com/2b2/?q=Sydneyz=15m=earthgtbut I
was having 'issues' with the Zoom Factor concept.

What I wanted to achieve was jumping to 'absolute' zoom levels but it seems
like the MSI control currently requires you to 'keep track' of how far in
you've zoomed yourself, then do the math if you want to zoom back out again
- am I missing something??

I'm talking specifically about ZoomAboutLogicalPoint() here (also, why does
a method that _says_ it takes a Point actually take X, Y). I get the
impression I could use ViewportWidth too...
http://silverlight.idvsolutions.com/ has a zoom slider so i guess they have
figured it out.

OT: if you keep zooming in ('zoom factor' as displayed 100,000) you get a
funny wobble - is that the Springs?

OT2: I did manage to have the entire browser crash on me once during
testing - something about a 'shader' error (i have two MSIs overlaid, with
transparent overlay images)... but was in a rush and didn't capture more
detail... will keep an eye out.

2008-06-26 Thread Jonas Follesø
That's a great post Philip!

Great example of using Silverlight for more than just UI work. Wilco Bauwer
have more examples and ideas on this kind of stuff over at
http://www.wilcob.com/Wilco/Silverlight/silverlight-interoperability.aspx.

You could do lots of cool stuff with Silverlight to enhance traditional web
pages. Client side caching is another example where it could be usefull. One
could abstract away Silverlight Isolated Storage, Google Gears and Flash 6
local storage in a simple JavaScript API and get local cache that would work
on lots of machines depending on which plug-in is available.

the duration...by default I think there is no duration, but you can set up to a
1 second transition duration.

Subject: [OzSilverlight] Visual State Manager

Hi,

Does anyone know of a good way to switch between two visual states and have a
pause between them?

if (IsSlideUpVisible) {
VisualStateManager.GoToState(this, SlideUpHidden, true);
IsSlideUpVisible = false;
}

if (!IsSlideUpVisible) {
VisualStateManager.GoToState(this, SlideUpVisible, true);
IsSlideUpVisible = true;

loadContent();
}

I want to hide the slideup if it is visible and then show the slideup again
where I then go off and get the data for the page. Problem is that this code
just takes me to the visible state. I tried a Thread.Sleep but that's not so
shiny on the UI thread. Everything stops (to be expected).

Do I have to create a seperate animation of the slide being slid off the page
and then back on?

cheers,
Stephen
