So how many people are bringing partners to YAPC::Europe?

Some of us can't afford YAPC. And some of us don't have partners :-(

maybe we could have Yet Another Beer :: London at the same time then.

That is the time of the Great British Beer Festival and Thursday is the
night John Otway is playing...

I'll be there all week again, slaving away at keeping the beer on the
front right set of brewery bars in tip top condition.

Sony Clie is my preferred choice at the moment. If anyone knows a good
 shop,
or is good at haggling and wants to help, I'm on 07801 814138.

When this came up on IRC I asked at Micro Anvika who wanted 240 ukp inc
vat for the basic package (8MB onboard, 8MB memory stick, etc). Mark
Fowler paid about the same, but after haggling his way up and down the
street, so I'd just cut the hassle and go there.

Mind you, I'm no good at the haggling thing, so YMMV.

On a roughly related note, can anyone recommend somewhere to look for the
following.

1) Laptop screen repairs. We have had the backlight go on a gateway at
work that is out of warrantee.

2) Cheep low end laptops. Basically don't need anything with a lot of zoom,
just want to put linux on it to relieve train boredom. So my only real
want is reasonably standard kit inside and battery life.

Sorry to just randomly attack you like this after reading your mail to
London.pm's list. But a) are you a Camra member and b) are you going to
work the great British beer festival in London this summer and/or you
interested in working/going to beer festivals in general?

Hello and one or two dull questions

2001-05-25 Thread Tony Kennick

Hi, after a while off list, (in my first real perl job) I have wandered
back. Just trying to remember, is there an archive so I can see what has
come up recently? Was YAPC::Europe fun? Has anyone managed to ask the
Camel what it's name is yet?

Tony
