[Lubuntu-desktop] [Bug 697694] Re: Lubuntu installation crashes
I have a Pentium III 550MHz with 256MB of RAM. For other informations I attached a hardware info file. By the way, I read that I need 256MB of RAM to have the graphical installation, even though I have enough RAM, what is the other option and how is it done? ** Attachment added: hardware_infoComputerBianco.html https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/697694/+attachment/1784929/+files/hardware_infoComputerBianco.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Lubuntu, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/697694 Title: Lubuntu installation crashes Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: ubiquity I tried installing Lubuntu 10.10 but the installation crashed and it said to report a bug with two files attached: partman, and syslog. [Lubuntu-desktop] Network issue.
I decided to left lubuntu and GO back to regular ubuntu. Is better wait then never do! Lubuntu is much faster than ubuntu, light and clean.. I loved but I cant make my usb work, Windows network does not work either. I tried many tutorials but no really help was given. Nautilus almost worked... I thought Lubuntu was the solution but it is more or less like Arch linux. It is just a distro that left many stuffs out to be lightweight, If you need something you must put by yourself. Unfortunately for people like me (beginner) it is a pain in the a**. I guess lubuntu will be even better than ubuntu when few thing work out of the box as network, USB sticks etc.. I wish I knew how to programming to help the community but I don't :( ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Did you try this: Network File Browsing with PCManFM There has been reports of PCManFM having problems displaying networked drives and folders correctly. This is not actually a bug but a feature where it allows the user to decide if this package is required for them. If you would like to use PCManFM to browse networked drives and folders this is easily accomplished by simply installing the package gvfs-backends: sudo apt-get install gvfs-backends It worked for me. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The thing is that I can only attach one file, how do I attach the other. Try the alternate install CD (NOT mini.iso). It's a text based installer which is quite self explanatory. Personally, I would recommend sorting out partitions prior to attempting the installation using a wired connection during the installation. This worked for me on a laptop with 256mb RAM whereas Ubiquity constantly crashed. I appreciate this doesn't help with attaching files, it may be a viable option for installation though. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Network issue.
Hi Julien, is the automatic inclusion of gvfs-backends going to cause a resource issue? It is coming up time and time again. Thanks, Phill. [Lubuntu-desktop] RES: Network issue.
It did not work. I already have this package! package gvfs-bac I won't bother you guys with my lack of knolegment. I decided to move to linux a little time ago when I started to learn java language. I have no more time to fix things or try to learn how to use it. My focus must be java. I work maintaining windows machines, and it is weird because I find myself just like a kid when I use linux, I don't understand names, commands, expressions.I will be back to XP/Ubuntu and see what happens. When I fell more confident with linux ill try lubuntu again. Thanks guys.. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] RES: Network issue.
That's interesting; Java's a language that's a bit laggy on any Linux distro, but that's just because Java's faulty. Excuse me if you had, but do you have any logs or a procedure that I can follow to reproduce the error that you're having?
