Which is largely why captcha is considered a barrier for many populations,
not just those using adaptive tools. everything from the poor quality of
image and sound, to language factors, makes other options, math problems,
honey pots, etc., better solutions. They are even more secure according

2019-09-02 Thread Alejandro Lieber

Karen:

I use LYNX ver 2.9.0dev.1 in my MSDOS computer with a 40MHz Cyrix 486DLC
and 8 MBy RAM and yellow Hercules monitor. Works great.

Alejandro Lieber

A port for MSDOS, by Juán Manuel Guerrero:

"This is a port of Lynx 2.9.0dev.4 to MSDOS/DJGPP.

  DJGPP specific changes.
  ===
This port is based on the current develop code of lynx (aka
lynx2.9.0dev.4)

  available as:
https://invisible-mirror.net/archives/lynx/tarballs/lynx-cur.tar.bz2

The code has been adjusted to detect at runtime if LFN support is
available

or not.  If LFN support is available then the original posix style file
names will be used else DOS compatible ones will be used.

The port will use cp850 as default code page instead of using
iso-8859-1 as
it is in the current code.  It is clear that having iso-8859-1 on
plain DOS
as character set is useless as soon as spanish, german or other
non-english
texts shall be displayed.  You can always select another character
set by
either setting the corresponding environment variable or by editing
lynx.cfg

  acordingly.

The current version of lynx requires that the HOME environment
variable is
set to a writable directory or it will refuse to start.  To alleviate
this
situation, if HOME is not set, the current directory will be used
instead

  by this port version.

The port has been configured using the configure script provided by the
source package.  This means that neither old DJGPP specific scripts nor
makefiles distributed by the package have been used.  A lot of the
porting

work has been invested in the DJGPP specific configuration scripts.

This port has been configured to be compiled with BZIP2, ZIP and
PDCURSES
support.  This means that if you want to recompile the preconfigured
sources

you must have installed the following ports:
ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/v2apps/bz2-106ar2.zip
ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/v2tk/zlb1211b.zip
ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/v2tk/pdcur38a.zip

The port has been configured and build without NLS support enabled.
To enable this feature, the latest ports of libiconv and gettext must be
  installed:
ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/v2gnu/licv116b.zip
ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/v2gnu/gtxt201b.zip
If you prefer NLS, then reconfigure the sources passing the nls flag
to the

  config.bat file.

The port has been configured with OPENSSL support.  OpenSSL support
requires

installing the WATT-32 port.  The following ports have been used:
ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/v2tk/ssl102sb.zip
ftp://ftp.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/v2tk/wat3211b.zip
No other versions have been tested.  To be able to use this program
compiled
with OpenSSL and WATT-32 a noise source must be installed.  A noise
source

  can be obtained as:
http://www.rahul.net/dkaufman/noise063a2.zip
If for some reason you decide to reconfigure the source package, then
you

will have to set the WATT_ROOT environment variable to point to the
directory where the headers and the library reside.  This is:
    set WATT_ROOT=/dev/env/DJDIR/net/watt

To be able to run the program, configuration files are expected to be
found
at their canonical place.  This is the /dev/env/DJDIR/etc directory.
The
configuration files lynx.cfg and lynx.css are stored in the /etc
directory
and reflect, to certain extent, the conditions during the
configuration and
compilation process of this port.  You may need to adjust the entries
to fit
your requiriments.  If lynx.cfg and lynx.css are not found at their
canonical
place then the program will try to load them from the installation
directory
of lynx.  To run the program, a working version of wattcp.cfg is
required.

This file is __NOT__ distributed with this port.  That file will reflect
your network environment and hardware.  It is the user's job write
one that
matches his environment.  As a starting point you can use the one
distributed
with the WATT-32 port.  Please note that the location of wattcp.cfg
must be
specified by setting the WATTCP.CFG environment variable.  This can
be done

either in the environment, in autoexec.bat or in djgpp.env.  If the file
cannot be found at any of the canonical places the program will try
to load

it from the installation directory of lynx.

To be able to run the program, a DOS packet driver (PKTDRVR) is
required.
This may be obtained from the card manufacturer or from one of the
archives
  of packet drivers (such as
"http://www.lanet.lv/simtel.net/msdos/pktdrvr-pre.html;
  or
"http://ftp.freenet.de/pub/ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/msdos/pktdrvr/;).
Even when only browsing local files, a NULLPKT packet driver is
required like

nullpkt.zip.  The zip file can be downloaded as:
http://www.jumpjet.info/Application-Software/DOS/Hardware/2/NULLPKT/NULLPKT.zip

The lynx executable itself handles http:, https:, ftp:, file:,

Thomas, Ian,
Thomas I personally can do nothing whatsoever with the snapshop. because
of how I use a computer, and the lack of pure dos compiles of Lynx
recently, my only access to the browser, or to the internet in general
comes via using ssh telnet to reach shellworld.

Ian, if you choose to access this snapshot, can you test for improvements?
I will likely have to wait first for its incorporation into a lynx
edition, then to how these changes might be incorporated into shellworld
before I try.
Regardless I am reporting to Amazon, so a test of some kind will be
helpful.

That is correct (and sorry I didn't see this message earlier). One or more
of the cookies that Amazon uses during the login process has a date later
than 2038, and Lynx is failing to store these cookies because of a bug in the
current version of Lynx.

My understanding is that this has only been a problem since the beginning of

year the date would have been 2038 and Lynx accepts that.

Am I correct in understanding that the cookie that should be accepted has

some of it. But extending the table to 2200 is what I'm doing for now,
since it takes less time (ten minutes vs a few hours).

True. I have seen systems on 64-bit hardware that nevertheless have
32-bit time_t, for example. (I relatively recently switched from 32 to
64 bits for time_t and tv_sec on my own systems, and it was, shall we

Be that as it may -- the 32-bit rollover hypothesis still seems strong
to me. 2036 cookies get recorded, 2039 don't.

Even with a 64-bit binary, it may be that some part of either Lynx
itself, or the libraries on that particular system, pass the date
through a 32-bit bottleneck at some point. (Yes, it could be caused by
Lynx code even if someone else demonstrated not having this issue on
*their* 64-bit Lynx: the date computation may at some point pass through
a system-header-provided data type which for some reason is 32-bit on
one build and 64 on the other.)

Oh, do you have a system with 32-bit time_t?

@TD: perhaps lynx could, if sizeof(time_t) <= 4, map cookies past 2036
to INT_MAX so they will work… for a while longer.

MirBSD/i386, with its 64-bit time_t, handles those cookies just fine.

It's not unique to you. I cannot see any way of getting past this screen
in Lynx without being able to view the image. The audio challenge simply
doesn't work at all. Incidentally, it doesn't seem to matter whether or
not you enter your password correctly on the first login screen.

But even if I do view the CAPTCHA and enter the correct characters,
Amazon sends Lynx to the "please enable cookies" page. Now when I
look at the cookie jar, all I have is 'i18n-prefs=GBP' whereas there
are supposed to be at least 'session-id' and 'session-id-time' cookies
set; and indeed they were set before I entered the CAPTCHA. There is
also supposed to be 'ubid-acbuk', but this one was never present in
Lynx's cookie jar. I think the lack of this cookie is what is prompting
Amazon to say "please enable cookies".

So I think there is another issue going on. Amazon is issuing some
cookies valid for approx 20 years and these are not getting stored
in my copy of Lynx. I think we may be suffering from a year-2038
bug here. (This may vary with how Lynx is compiled. My copy is
the one provided by the Fedora 30 packagers on x86_64 platform.)

Looking back in my Lynx.trace for Set-Cookie headers, I have something
like this (in reverse order):

Set-Cookie: session-id-time=2197638836l; Domain=.amazon.co.uk; Expires=Mon,
22-Aug-2039 15:13:56 GMT; Path=/
Set-Cookie: session-id=xxx-xxx-xxx; Domain=.amazon.co.uk; Expires=Mon,
22-Aug-2039 15:13:56 GMT; Path=/
Set-Cookie: ubid-acbuk=xxx-xxx-xxx; Domain=.amazon.co.uk; Expires=Mon,
22-Aug-2039 15:13:28 GMT; Path=/
Set-Cookie: i18n-prefs=GBP; Domain=.amazon.co.uk; Expires=Tue, 01-Jan-2036
08:00:01 GMT; Path=/
Set-Cookie: session-id-time=2082787201l; Domain=.amazon.co.uk; Expires=Tue,
01-Jan-2036 08:00:01 GMT; Path=/
Set-Cookie: session-id=xxx-xxx-xxx; Domain=.amazon.co.uk; Expires=Tue,
01-Jan-2036 08:00:01 GMT; Path=/

The ones dated 2039 never appeared in Lynx whereas the ones dated 2036 did;
and moreover, the later 2039 ones caused the earlier 2036 ones to be deleted.

Well, I have no access to those other tools, could never get edbrowse to
work here at shellworld.
I can say that elinks, produces the same issue though, although I remain
unsure if elinks even saves cookies.
My goal here, which you have actually surpassed by illustrating that the
audio challenge will not play, was seeing if the cookie error happened
after content was or was not added to the verification field.

[Lynx-dev] lynx and amazon?

2019-08-25 Thread Karen Lewellen

Hi everyone,
Curious if anyone here has successfully used one of the updated editions of
lynx to sign into, and complete an order at amazon.com?
Lately I am getting a please turn on cookies error, even with my cookies
being accepted.
Further if I try more than once the site request authentication, thinking
i am a hacker.
Even the so called access site, the one for simplified browsing now has
issues.

Thanks,
Karen
