I use several .bib-files in the BibTeX references at the end of my document.
They are all quite large (beyond 1000 entries each). Some references are
listed in two or more of the bibfiles and have the same marks (e.g. AMC+99).

Does somebody know, how a particular reference is searched for if it is found
in let's say bib1.bib and bib2.bib and bib5.bib? According to the sequence in
the BibTeX data bank (which is, let's say 1,2,3,4,5)?

What is the best way to extract the cited references only and put them in a
new .bib- file which can be read by pybliographic?

tkbibtex
http://www.cat.csiro.au/cmst/staff/pic/tkbibtex.html

Nelson Beebe's collection of awk scripts may help as well

integrate source code snippets (verbatim text?) into document

2003-11-19 Thread x90nybe02
Hi there,

I'd like to put short source code snippets (from 1 to 10 lines max) into my text, in
typewriter font (I am writing a coding styleguide). I tried to just tweak the font
settings but was not happy with it because lyx/latex still treats it as normal text,
and creates margins at the beginning of a paragraph etc; I also could not find a way
to integrate tabs or spaces for source code indentation like this:

void foo()
{
// indented text goes here
}

I know from my early and long gone LaTeX days that there is a \verbatim{} command in
LaTeX - would that be a solution and if yes could I use that? Or is there any other
better suited solution to my problem?

I'm using LyX 1.3.2 for Windows and the article (AMS) document class

thx,

Uwe

Changing language of LyX user interface.

2003-11-19 Thread Peter Ringwood

Some time ago, I was experimenting with LyX and found a hint about how to
change the whole GUI language, including the documentation, by adding two

language in which you wanted to see the interface.

I thought I had saved the advice page well indexed, but it seems I have lost

I know that I can access the foreign documentation within LyX's package, but

 Then you have no pagenumbers for dvi and pdf output.
But I want to have pagenumbers!

Okay for the idea that it should be put in the preamble but hwo do I change
then the header for chapter 1 to 10 , there it should be
  \fancyhead[RO,LE]{\slshape \leftmark}

chapter 10 - 20  should have

So I put it in the text. I feared it was not the exakt way but it works.
But it might be a solution to put the fancyfoot in the preamble.
I can send the lyx file if you want, I jus wasn't sure whether it is common in

chapter 10 - 20  should have

 \fancyhead[RO,LE]{\slshape Tipps}

So I put it in the text. I feared it was not the exakt way but it works.
But it might be a solution to put the fancyfoot in the preamble.
I can send the lyx file if you want, I jus wasn't sure whether it is common in
this mailing list so send mails with attached files.

With LyX/Mac, you can change the GUI language from the system default
by inserting the lines

LANG
fr

between the  and  of ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist.
Substitute the two-character abbreviation of the langauge you want for
"fr". You will have to log out and log in again for the change to
take effect.

this is stuff which should completely go into the preamble.
Then you have no pagenumbers for dvi and pdf output.
But I want to have pagenumbers!
sorry, I meant

Then you have pagenumbers for dvi and pdf output.

Okay for the idea that it should be put in the preamble but hwo do I change
then the header for chapter 1 to 10 , there it should be
  \fancyhead[RO,LE]{\slshape \leftmark}

chapter 10 - 20  should have

 \fancyhead[RO,LE]{\slshape Tipps}
this is okay, but the _first_ definition should go into the preamble.

Newbie's question: what is the input box at the bottom of lyx

2003-11-19 Thread Wei Zhou
I have just started using lyx. My impression is really good. It’s so much
easier to use than latex.

I have a question. I couldn’t find an answer in any of the help documents.

Could any one tell me what is the input box at the bottom used for?

If I try to type something, it says unknown function.

Thanks,

Wei

It's for entering commands, for example "lyx-quit". It's not
particulalrly useful most of the time

running head on title page

2003-11-19 Thread mreavey
I would like to add an apa style running head
an example...
http://www.uwsp.edu/psych/apa4b.htm#A1

There appear to be two problems here.
1. getting the short right header with the page underneath
   [I've been able to get this on all the pages except the title
page and the bibliograghy page
using documentclass{report} and fancy headings and modifiy the
preamble on lyx 1.2
the page number is on the same line though. After setting the
document heading to fancy I've modified the preamble
\pagestyle{fancy}\lhead{} \chead{}
\rhead{foo is good \thepage}
2. I want to get the running head onto the titlepage. It's clear the
running head is not in teh header area. When I add anything above the
title I end up making an additional page.

Thanks
