Preferences, Paths

2005-02-24 Thread Gunnar
Hello.
I use this ERT to include graphics

\parpic[r]{\resizebox}{!}{40mm}{\includegraphics{foobar.eps}}}

but I don't get any output.

It complains about not beeing able to determine the size of graphics, and
File 'foobar.eps' not found.

I assume that there is a problem with my settings in the Preferences, Paths.
In that dialog I have currently
working dir, backup dir, lyXServer pipe empty.
Document templates are set to /home/.lyx/templates/
I also use the temporary directory /tmp

What do you suggest I use as Paths settings?
The catch is that I want to use relative paths, and I don't want any temporary
files in the current directory. They should go to /tmp. I could perhaps set
a backup directory to ~/.lyx/backup

Thanks,
Gunnar.

Problem solved! (I think)
It was a bad idea to use letters outside the range a-z in the filename, more
explicitly, the letters å,ä or ö.
Now, why can't I use these letters?

Sorry, I was wrong. Problem not solved. I just forgott to switch back into
using a temporary directory.
Problem remains, how to use /tmp as temp. directory for LyX and how to use
relative paths for graphic files.

I am afraid, LyX does not check all ERT insets for included files. What
happens if you include the graphic with InsertGraphic?

No(t yet; it will be possible in 1.4).
But you can use a wrapper script:

or tex2pdf, which lets you tweak the makeindex options (but is limited to pdf
output):

no, only from outside of LyX. Copy the existing makeindex
to OldMakeindex and create a new makeindex script, which
calls the OldMakeindex with your own parameter.

Graphic Displays in LyX But Not in .dvi or .pdf

2005-02-24 Thread Rich Shepard
This may have been covered before, but I have no record of this.
At the top of the title page of a report class document I placed an .eps
graphic (company logo). Using the advice I was given here, I clipped it to
the bounding box. It displays very well on the .lyx file, but it's not
visible on either the .dvi preview or the .pdf output.
What simple thing have I overlooked?
Thanks,
Rich
