Last time I wrote a macro was in Lotus 123 about 16-18 years ago but if I keep moving Word junk to LyX I may have to do one again. It probably would not take long since it seems to be only 5-6 items consistantly. Thanks __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Libre Graphics Meeting 2007
Hello all, Our 1st press release is out now! Hope to see you in Montréal! Louis LGM 2007 organiser * * * ENGLISH VERSION * * * FRENCH VERSION BELOW * * * Artists and Developers Ally to Boost Open Source Graphics Software. Libre Graphics Meeting 2007 in Montréal Announced Issue date: 12 February 2007 Building on the overwhelming success of last year's Libre Graphics Meeting in Lyon, France, key Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) graphics projects are pleased to announce the second Libre Graphics Meeting (LGM), to be held in Montréal, Québec, Canada, May 4—6, 2007 at École Polytechnique de Montréal. This year's LGM provides a venue where FLOSS graphics application developers, users and professional artists from all over the world meet to discuss collaboration, outline the future of the projects together, with the goal of increasing interaction between developers, professional graphics artists and print professionals to improve the steadily expanding FLOSS graphics' application ecosystem. This ecosystem consists of open source projects such as Blender - a 3D creation application, Scribus - a professional grade page layout application, GIMP - a versatile and mature image editor, Inkscape - a user friendly, yet powerful vector drawing application for SVG, Krita - a rapidly maturing "natural" painting application, Open Clip Art Library - a large public domain collection of freely available artwork, and many other projects focussed on graphics creation and editing. According to Louis Desjardins, a 20 year veteran of pre-press and print production and organiser of the conference: "LGM is a sure demonstration of the maturity of free and open source applications - even at a professional level. Not only that, never before have I seen such a close and amicable working relationship between the users of this kind of software and those who create it." Having experienced the whole evolution from camera ready galleys and manual stripping to the advent and evolution of DTP, he states: "We are now seeing Free Software emerge in a domain which was more or less closed before." Numerous companies and organisations are showing their support of LGM by means of sponsorship. They are convinced that LGM has a clear positive impact on the evolution of the projects present at the conference. LGM audience is increasing rapidly as we gather momentum. Sponsors have the opportunity to show their support to the community and get appropriate web and media exposure. This year they also have the opportunity to advertise in the LGM Brochure which will be entirely done using FLOSS. The conference offers presentations of various Free/Libre Open Source graphics projects, technology previews and talks on general issues such as open file formats. There will be informal brainstorming sessions and time for artists and developers to meet face to face and to work on common goals, which is a characteristic of the FLOSS world. LGM 2007 is putting out a call for participation, sponsorship, and discussion. The call for participation includes the submission of at most 2 paragraph presentation abstracts by interested projects and individuals. All types of presentations will be considered, including topics as diverse as collaboration, power-user art techniques, engineering talks, graphics business best practices, and other relevant topics. Wiki: Happy new, less spam in the future
The LyX wiki is occasionally spammed. At first this was done by drug or gambling ads being inserted in the page text. I blocked this a while back by prohibiting certain words from being added to wiki pages. This seemed to be quite successful. Recently, spammers started editing page without actually changing the contents. Instead, they try to insert advertisments in the comment that is associated with changes to a page. This hole has now been closed, so modification to a page is blocked if the page text, the comment or the author field contains an undesired word. The page that lists blocked words can be found at the following URI: http://wiki.lyx.org/Site/Blocklist In case you have problems modifying a page, please look at this page in order to see that you are not using any prohibited words. If this doesn't help, please ask for further assistance on this list. Best regards /Christian -- Christian Ridderström, +46-8-768 39 44 http://www.md.kth.se/~chr

Here in /usr/local/TeX/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf I can read: buf_size = 20 This can be enlarged, but your problem may come from incorrect EOF markers, which feeds latex with very long lines. Be sure to have the correct ones before editing the texmf.cnf file, in /usr/local/TeX/texmf-var/web2c/texmf.cnf I'm not sure that formats reconstruction is needed there. -- Jean-Pierre

Re: Beamer and font size
Thanks, that worked just fine. Now, I would like to add a logo to the presentation. I have my JPG image in the same folders as the LyX file. I added a "titlegraph" line but I don't know how it works. I added an image in this line and it doesn't appear in the PDF. But not only that the rest of the file doesn't work, too. If I add just the filename to this line, nothing happens, but the rest of the file works perfectly. I have read in the Beamer manual that if I use the line: \titlegraphic{\pgfuseimage{logo_universitat_blanco}} it should work, but nothing appears on the PDF (the rest of the file works fine). Any tips??? On 2/12/07, Paul A. Rubin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Julio Rojas wrote: > I would like to change the font size Beamer uses. Again, I presume this is because LaTeX uses something different for these as well. If you search for these and replace them with another string of characters, which will not be replicated anywhere else, in Word then you can then search for that string of characters and replace it, in LyX, with the correct representation. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.3 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFF0Yru3arasOikFPYRAuUlAJ94QsVocZdnD01MMm/RHJS9oTRaXgCeIHqn jFKmbkQ0fqFUomQoG1T8l8o= =pMs3 -END PGP SIGNATURE-
Bibtex buffer size exceeded?
Hi, My friend is writing his Ph.D. thesis in lyx. Lyx/Latex started showing his thesis without the references at the end. The log file shows that bibtex complains that the "buffer size exceeded", but with no reference to any offending line. This isn't a long list of references, less than 200, and it shows up perfectly in a file containing just "nocite{*}". Also, xemacs says the syntax of this .bib file is correct, and so does JabRef. The line lengths of all fields are less than 100 characters. Does anyone know what buffer is it?, or why is it full? This is MikTex on windows. We are currently installing lyx on a linux machine, but if anyone knows anything we will appreciate it. Miki
