I think possibly pdftk might do it. Google pdftk.

OT: post-process postscript or PDF document to add page numbering and footer

2008-09-06 Thread Jeremy C. Reed
Off topic:

I am looking for a solution to add running page numbering to a postscript
or PDF document and maybe add a footer or header (maybe with a horizontal
rule).

Any tools or suggestions would be appreciated. Or if you know of a good
forum or mailing list to discuss this, please let me know.

Thanks!

The original roff documents use various different roff macros all in one
book compilation -- the page numbering keeps resetting because they are
using different macros. Post-processing the PDF or postscript seems to be
easier than converting the many documents to one macro style or to LyX or
LaTeX (especially since they continue to be maintained in their original
formats).

LyX 1.6rc2 crashes when navigating in the outline panel (MAC OS X)

2008-09-06 Thread George G. Szegö

Hi there,

I'd just like to report that LyX version 1.6rc2 repeatedly crashes when
trying to open child documents from a master document by clicking in
the toggle outline panel (see details from the Apple's crash reporter in
the attached file).

Besides this minor problem I am loving the features of this new version.
Congratulations for all of those involved.

Thanks a lot,
George

Hi. I have an issue with previewing EPS files. I've seen in the list's
archives similar problems, but I think I'm missing something. I have
an EPS diagram generated by Metapost from a Dia diagram. When I
include the generated EPS image, the document is generated correctly
by latex + dvipdf or latex + dvips + ps2pdf (but not by pdflatex.) Yet
I get the typical "Unable to convert to loadable format" in the LyX
preview. What is strange is that I do have the converter from
Imagemagick and epstopdf installed. When I run these I get an error
from ghostscript (below.) Both seem to complain about cmmi10, but I
don't know what this is: a missing font? If so, why doesn't latex
complain about it? What can I do about it?

By the way, imagemagick's converter gives me this error: "convert:
Postscript delegate failed `ex1v2.eps': No such file or directory."
but the file is there...

Thanks

PS: I'm running LyX 1.5.3 on ubuntu.

ImageMagick calls Ghostscript to do part of the conversion, so it's no
surprise you're getting the same error message both times. The "no such
file" message from convert may just mean that it didn't find an
intermediate file it was expecting from Ghostscript (the reference to
'ex1v2.eps' is probably just a reminder which source file was being
processed when the universe imploded).

I can't read Ghostscript dumps, but it would not surprise me if
'/undefined in cmmi10' means that the EPS file contains a character that
does not exist in the cmmi10 font. Are there any "funny" characters
used in the plot? Would you care to post ex1v2.eps to the list, where
we can take a look at it?

"chapterentry" does not belong to the list of elements whose type
style can be changed with these commands. "chapter" is in this list,
so I would try:

\setkomafont{chapter}{\rmfamily}

I already have

\addtokomafont{chapter}{\rmfamily}

In my preamble, but that doesn't change the font of the chapter entries
in the table of content.

eh sorry, version control is the same as revision control. i thought for a

I have no idea how to make this with koma-script options but you get total

On my system, opensuse 11.0 with kde, all dialog box are open in "full screen"

change size.
 In rc1 this not happen.
Is impossible work with search and replace with this behaviour.

Little bugs in rc1 remains in rc2:
 a) tools bar in vertical mode at the sides of the screen go down when I stop
and run Lyx.
 b) first open of a file with paragraph with no indentation and that start with
an ERT show it superpossed to the text.

 Feature request:
 a) I want a doc help with inline completion instructions. I have not clear
idea how work it.
 b) In early version of version control I have an option for check changes one
by one. I have not see it in 1.6.0 version.
