Not quite. Traditionally, the font size includes some vertical whitespace (it
derives from the height of the metal body in metal typesetting, not from the
height of the characters; in digital typesetting, such extra whitespace is
also often included in the metrics). So two 12pt fonts might well differ in
character height.

Well I stand corrected :) Thanks for that clarification.

how to save PDF file?

2010-08-03 Thread Zachary Uram
I am running Lyx 1.6.7 and used the pdflatex command to show the Math
guide in PDF but I do not see any way to save the PDF file! I wish to
save it on my Desktop. The PDF viewer has no save file option and the
Save As in Lyx only lets me save the Math.tex file. Please help!

Graphics in Beamer/Lyx under Windows XP

2010-08-03 Thread ehud.kap...@gmail.com
When I insert graphics (jpg, eps, or pdf) into a beamer presentation
(using Lyx), it works fine under
Linux (Ubuntu/gnome 10.04), but under Windows XP (sp3) the same Lyx file
(compiled with Lyx 1.6.7.4) generates numerous errors:

undefined control sequence, missing number treated as zero, etc.
The Linux Lyx version is 1.6.7.1 from getdeb.
I actually suspect that it is a beamer problem, since I get similar
errors in Windows after exporting

the Lyx file to Latex, but I am not sure.
Can anyone help? What is going on?

Are all your MikTeX packages up to date (latest versions)? Seems to me I recall
seeing some reports of bugs in a package beamer uses (I don't think it was
beamer itself, but I could be wrong) when the latest MikTeX release occurred. I
think I also some something to the effect that the problems had been patched
subsequently.
