Wolfgang

 Hullo Wolfgang,

This is the kind of thing that can be done with the find--replace
script of the pLyX scripting system (on the wiki under Examples/pLyX
system) which allows you to work from within the LyX gui. In fact I was
faced with a similar task a couple of weeks ago (and found a bug in the
script which I've since corrected). The system takes a little setting up
(two file formats and two converters to be defined, plus some files to
be distributed around your personal LyX folders), and some practice to
get a feel for how it works.

If you do go this way, then you would need to insert a .find--replace
 inset containing

 -i -r

to specify a regular expression inset search, followed by two
.argument
insets, the first (the find regular expression) containing

 filename .+/([\w\d\-]+)\.jpg

and the second (the replace expression) containing

 filename ./\1.jpg

Then click the View other formats button and select pLyX.

This assumes that all your graphics are .jpg format, and that the
names
of your images (like 'Kalanchoe-closed') are made up only from letters,
 digits, hyphens and underscores.

Installing Lyx/Mac w/out MacTeX. Is it possible?

2014-01-29 Thread stefano franchi
I am trying to convince a Mac-only colleague to use LyX on a common
project. She resists installing TeX on her system, for a number of reasons.

But she won't need to typeset anything---I'll be in charge of that---and
will only use LyX to edit jointly produced file.

A LyX-only installation would suit her needs perfectly. But I can't figure
out from the lyx.org page if this is possible at all. The page says:

LyX for Mac OS X is available here:
LyX-2.0.7+qt4.dmgftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/2.0.7/LyX-2.0.7+qt4.dmg.
Before you install LyX you need to install a TeX system such as
MacTeXhttp://www.tug.org/mactex/.

Is that requirement enforced? I don't have a Mac at my disposal to try it
out.

Best,

I'm sorry this has become messy, Wolfgang. I didn't anticipate left and
right screen views being open while putting the pieces in their places,
although it is clearly convenient to do so. However, I've just tried
reconfiguring with left and right views open, and it proceeded without
problems (on my Windows 7 machine).

The LyX pipe is nowhere involved in pLyX. Am I right in thinking (from
other threads) that you have a LyX installation that you've compiled
yourself? Perhaps you should remove all pLyX stuff and try reconfiguring
after that. Then, if you wish, start again.

  1) Place the text immediately under the title and before the ToC.

  2) Define the environment as Uppertitleback.

  3) Use the standard environment, not quote or quotation, for the quotation

  4) Separate the quote from the attribution with a ragged line break

  5) If there are multiple quotes, separate each pair with two ragged line

The LyX pipe is nowhere involved in pLyX. Am I right in thinking (from
other threads) that you have a LyX installation that you've compiled
yourself? Perhaps you should remove all pLyX stuff and try reconfiguring
after that. Then, if you wish, start again.

handy, because only the used figures, bib are saved.

However, I have this problem:

The path to the figures should be ./Kalanchoe-closed.jpg

as an example and not e.g.:

\begin_inset Graphics

filename BluFloClockTar/AAAflowerclock20130909/Kalanchoe-closed.jpg

since I would like to move the lyx file to another folder or send it away.

I am not sure I understand. Could you describe your directory layout for

I thought the figures had local paths in the original document, and that
in the archive form, these pathes were not correct anymore.

"LyX for Mac OS X is available here:
LyX-2.0.7+qt4.dmg.
Before you install LyX you need to install a TeX system such as
MacTeX.
"

Is that requirement enforced? I don't have a Mac at my disposal to try it
out.

Best,

Stefano

KOMA-Script (scrbook): Using Uppertitleback environment

2014-01-29 Thread Rich Shepard

I've read the 2007 edition of the KOMA-Script book (chapter 3) where
\uppertitleback{} and \lowertitleback{} are briefly described, and have
tried to figure out how to use them from the LyX environment pulldown menu,
but without success.

Under the title, ToC, and List of Figures I have a series of quotes that I
want typeset on the obverse of the title page (there will be other
information at the bottom of that page). I've tried blocking the text and
choosing Uppertitleback but nothing appears when I view the dvi output or
the typeset (pdflatex) output.

  What am I missing here?
