Of course Ubuntu has recent lyx packages but lucid doesn't meet their dependencies. Sometimes it can be difficult to find - or maybe it is absent? From the web I can see that CAS in Lyx apparently is not working too well - does anyone have an overview of this functionality in terms of how well it works and if something is under development? Re: Install LyX 2.0 alpha3 in Ubuntu
Hello! Finally, I installed LyX 2.0. I needed to install some delopment libreries for qt4. Thanks. 2010/5/24 Marcelo Acuña mv...@yahoo.com.ar: I have try to install LyX 2.0 alpha3 in Ubuntu Karmic Koala using the instructions that appear in the compress file, but I haven't success. Some suggestions. We need more details about error messages, etc. Marcelo -- Más allá de la confusión, persiste la duda.
Re: Install LyX 2.0 alpha3 in Ubuntu
Hi. I have typed $ sudo aptitude install qt4-dev-tools After, $ ./configure $ make $ sudo make install If you want more details, i am writing for tomorrow a simple manual that I willl publish in my blog: http://bioinformatiquillo.wordpress.com/ I hope this will be useful for you. Using Qt Creator in addition to CMake (http://www.cmake.org/) is probably the easiest way I've found to get up and running with a LyX development environment. All it involves is checking out the code, to opening a new project, and then clicking on the development/cmake/CMakeLists.txt file. Qt Creator will then configure, compile and index your project for you. And best of all, everything is free. There are ways to get up and running with MS Visual Studio, but I'm not nearly patient enough to figure them out. Cheers, Rob -- Más allá de la confusión, persiste la duda.

Ok. Thanks! On Sun, May 9, 2010 at 6:07 PM, Marcelo Acuña mv...@yahoo.com.ar wrote: I would like to do a elegant title page like some books as I attach, with a photo as background and two columns. I have tried with titlepage package, but it seems that don't works in LyX. Have you any idea? In contrast, generating something similar to your example with Scribus or InDesign would take no more than an hour or two. Moreover, because it is a program specifically designed for finger painting, you have much better control over how things appear. Just my two cents, though. Cheers, Rob I agree completely. You can make a page with another program, save as pdf, and insert this pdf file at the beginning of your book. Marcelo -- Más allá de la confusión, persiste la duda.
