Hello I wrote a paper using the IEEE document class. It is a two column paper. On the last page is my references. It fills only part of the left column. Is it possible to split the column on the last page so that one half of the column is left and the other right. 1. As it is: qwerwerwer ewrtrr tretretrtr tretrtrtrt trtrtrtrtt trtrtrtrtt 2. Hello I am inexpierenced with installing stuff on linux. I would like to install the IEEEtran.cls document class and use it in Lyx. Hello I fixed the previous problem I had regarding the IEEEtran class. The file is compiling. There are now only a part of a word on one page. The result is a lot of pages. I attached a example file where I usec Export-LaTeX (users.tex). I also included the users.ps file that can be viewed using gv. I would appreciate some help on this one. Hello I would like to thank all the help I got! I managed to install the IEEEtran document class. In Lyx Layout-Document-class there now is article (IEEEtran). This really makes life a lot easier to prepare papers using Lyx. Here is what I did and I hope that this could help someone else: 1. First I got the IEEEtran.cls and IEEEbib.bst files from http://www.ieee.org/organizations/pubs/authors.html 2. As root I created the following directories in /usr/local/share and the reason for this is that my Lyx is installed here: texmf/tex/latex/IEEE - here I put the IEEEtran.cls file texmf/bibtex/bst/IEEE - here I put the IEEEbib.bst file 3. Update the texmf.cnf file to include the directories in 2 in the tree. On my computer the texmf.cnf file is in: /usr/share/texmf/web2c - texmf.cnf is here 4. Launch the texhash command 5. In Lyx launch the Options-Reconfigure command 6. Restart Lyx This will do it. Since I am not very good in upgrading my system, I found this not to difficult. The effort was worth it! Hello I encounter a problem with my citaion references. Using the citation reference I typed in the space labeled 'key' Kamper(1991) so that I know the paper. However when I view the ps file it appears like [?] instead of [12] if it was paper number 12. How can I mark the citation so that it is easy to use it when using it. However all the entries are then aligned with the entry with the longest authorname. How can I change it that there is a single space between the remark and the rest of the enry? 2. Hello I want to type a underscore in the math editor. What I would like to type is the following: st_sht. However to type the underscore in normal editing mode I use shift-underscore (the key next to the zero on the keyboard). In the math editor this means a subscript and that is not what I want. It must be: st_sht. I've tried the following, and thank very much for the suggestions! 1. Type \_. 2.
