Clemente,

Using platex with document class 'tarticle' or 'tbook' will resolve
the problem for vertical writing. pLaTeX (LaTeX for Japanese) will be
included in forthcoming TeXLive 2010 and currently its preview version
is available from the webpage of TeXLive. It is usable with LyX (they
appear like article (Japanese, vertical writing)).

For kunten and katchu, probably you want to rely on using LaTeX macros
available on net by various users. For these, you need use TeX Codes
within LyX.

Help-LaTeX Configuration from menu which lists original resources
of those classes marked not available.

Unfortunately, you need manually fetch classes from those resources and

Building 1.5.0beta1 on FreeBSD

I'm trying to build 1.5.0beta1 on FreeBSD 6.1, but there seems a problem
with included boost. Up to 1.4.4 release, FreeBSD's lyx port was using
devel/boost in ports, not included one in lyx. However, it seems
lyx-1.5.0beta1 is using functions which is only in cvs, not release
version of boost-1.33.1, so I tried to build with included boost.

It builds fine if I modify Makefiles not to build src/support/tests and
src/frontends/controllers/tests, but compiled lyx binary dumps core.
When I try to build these test programs, compilation fails saying:

I'm using version 1.3.5 (actually it's CJK-Lyx-1.3.5 but I don't think 
CJK patch is related to this problem) and I'm using the temporary 
directory (/tmp).

I'm using netpbm-10.26.14 on FreeBSD-5.4 and the man page of netpbm says:


If you use the -stdout  option, pstopnm outputs images of all the pages

Thank you for your advice.

I'm using version 1.3.5 (actually it's CJK-Lyx-1.3.5 but I don't think 
CJK patch is related to this problem) and I'm using the temporary 
directory (/tmp).


Looking at the debug information of 'lyx -dbg graphics', it seems that 
the created script for the conversion of image does not specify the 
output file.  Here is the content of the script (+debug info):

I'm using netpbm-10.26.14 on FreeBSD-5.4 and the man page of netpbm says:


If you use the -stdout  option, pstopnm outputs images of all the pages
 


as a multi-image file to Standard Output.  Otherwise,  pstopnm  creates
one file for each page in the Postscript document.  The files are named
as follows: If the input file is named psfile.ps, the name of the files
will  be  psfile001.ppm,  psfile002.ppm,  etc.


So, it seems the phenomenon I observed is a natural consequence in my 
current environment.

Do I need to modify lyxpreview2ppm.py?

Using the Qt frontend look in the Paths pane of the Edit-Preferences
dialog.

[x] Use temporary directory [/tmp] [Browse...]

Using the XForms frontend look in the Input-Paths tab of the
Edit-Preferences dialog.

Temp dir: [x] [/tmp] [Browse...]


I'm very surprised by the generated filenames too.
lyx -dbg graphics
should dump a whole heap of information to the console to help you
diagnose the problem.
