Consecutive math environments
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I want to have two instances of the same math environment without separation. Eg: Definition 1.3 (foo) Definition 1.4 (foo2) However, the two definitions merge into a single one. This can be very handy in some situations, but it's not what I'm looking for. I googled and found this was already a problem in LyX 1.1's days, and it can be solved by inserting some dummy environment (LyX-Note) between. Has any better solution been developed? Thanks. IMO, the best solution is to make LFUN_WORDS_COUNT display both printable and absolute words in the info dialog, but I suppose this would require some non-trivial code. countWords should be redesigned to parse environments instead of simply counting chars. If you have the textcomp package included, then you have additional choices. Rich Some notes: first, and also from The Comprehensive LaTeX Symbol List, you need to \usepackage{eurosym} to get these macros defined. It's strange, though, that LyX doesn't handle direct \euro keystrokes while it has no problem with German ss or Latin ae. It might be a key-mapping problem, since AltGr+E == Ctrl+Alt+E could be bound to a menu item or whatever. This problem exists with lyx-1.4.2-gtk too, but may be specific to the ES keyboard layout. But if this first line really is the first line of a new paragraph, then, at least in my opinion, the first line should be indented to signal the change in thought that accompanies a new paragraph. But in any case, how can one produce an indent in the first line of a given single paragraph? I tried inserting \indent in ert before the first word, but that produced an error message: undefined control sequence Bruce -- - Julio Rojas [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Paths in pdfpages
Hi. I'd like to make a comment on relative paths within ERT boxes. Lyx (I'm using 1.3.6) seems to have a strange behaviour with some packages. For instance, I can use the listings package with no trouble: \lstinputlisting{this/is/a/relative.path} (this and foo.lyx are in the same dir) but with pdfpages I need \includepdf{/home/somebody/this/is/an/absolute.path} because I'm told that LaTeX can't locate the file if the path is relative (actually, LyX produces a broken PDF and prints an error in LaTeX Logfile). Everything is fine when exporting to TeX and running pdflatex. This is not a big problem, but makes my writings unportable. Any idea about what's wrong?

I´m succeeding to convert these figures, but in despite I´m using the advanced placement option Here definetely, all the figures are being displayed in the beginning of the page, instead of in the place I added them in the source document. Too many !h (here definitively) may fool LaTeX. Try to use them only when no other solution is possible and normal h (here) otherwise. Is it possible that another document layout option is affecting the whole document, and how can I turn off this option? Thanks in advance, Ana

An illustration is at http://www.mathworks.com/access/helpdesk/help/techdoc/ref/spy.html but, unfortunately, I do not have Matlab. And unfortunately this command is not in Octave (the open source version of Matlab) I think you are going to have to do some programming. Gnuplot has some colormap drawing capabilities. You could try that.

Large figures with ContinuedFloat
Hi. I'm trying to span the subfigures inside a figure into multiple pages (they don't fit in a single one and just get lost in PS output). I found that caption package provides a way to do that, with a \ContinuedFloat command that must be inserted _immediately_ after starting a float environment. The problem is that with LyX I'm not able to do this because when inserting an ERT box, its contents are located after setting the nested standard environment inside the float. Does anybody know how to do that or should I edit .tex files manually? Thanks for help. Marc
Re: Large figures with ContinuedFloat
Hi again. I've solved most of my problem by playing a bit more with LyX. I tried putting the subfigures in separate floats and with no caption, just as I had done to prepare for inserting \ContinuedFloat commands but removing the ERT boxes. When I previewed the results, subcaptions were OK (this is (a) foo; (b) fooo; (c) ... instead of (a) foo; (a) fooo; (a) ...). I'm not sure about what would happen if I put text between two floats or how to make references correctly, but I suppose the last will be documented. I hope this will help anyone with the same problems, since I've not been able to find related documentation. Marc. En/na Marc Vinyals ha escrit: Hi.
