Maybe I can ask another question: when I open a child document the numbering (sections, figures, etc) is correct (because I set the master document). However when I compile it to PDF, it is not. I understand that a child document is a document /per se/ but maybe there could be an option. Maybe that's related to \includeonly... Thanks. Mathieu

Using LaTeX math macros
Hello, I'm a new LyX user but I'm a bit experienced with LaTeX. I have developed my own set of LaTeX math macros (mainly to have simple and coherent notations). It's not a package but just a tex file that I \input in my documents. I have \input'ed my tex file in the preamble but I cannot use commands with several arguments because LyX interprets the curly braces. How can I use my macros? The best way is probably to define them as LyX macros but I have no idea of how to do that. Thanks in advance, Mathieu

AGU classes...
Hello, I am running into a problem that I can't solve... I run Lyx 1.4.0 under Mandriva2006. I am writing an article to be submitted to the American Geophysical Union (AGU). According to AGU's website, I need to download a .bst file for bibtex. I downloaded agufull04.bst, agufull.bst and agu.bst. I put them all in /usr/share/texmf/bibtex/bst/agu directory and ran texhash as root, and I can find them in the style window. The document class is AGU++ and and the class setting is agums. If I click on the use class default button, Natbib is automatically chosen as default. However, when I want to look at my manuscript, I get the following errors... Package natbib error: The aguplus class already includes natbib coding. LateX error: unknow option authoryear for package natbib. \endinput}{} Type Return for now, but then later remove the command \userpackage{natbib} from the document What can I do? I tried a bunch of things but nothing worked. Thanks for your help! Mathieu -- Mathieu Richaud Graduate Student Dept. of Geology Northern Illinois University DeKalb, IL 60115 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

enumeration problem...
Hello all, What I am trying to create is the following enumerated list; 1. Item 1 2. Item 2 3. Item 3 [standard text] 4. Item 4 5. Item 5 However, Lyx reset to 1 the enumeration after the standard text. How can I get around that problem. I looked on the Wiki and the closest I got to an answer is from Paul A. problem with minipages...
Hello all, I will graduate in a few months and it is time that I update my resume. I want to use Lyx of course! I am almost done but I still have two problems. I joined my resume so that you can see clearly what I am asking (hopefully the file will get through). 1/ Under my name, I would like to draw a line across the page. I couldn't find an option to insert such a line. I went around this problem by inserting many hyphens. It does the trick but something tells me that Lyx has another better way to draw a line ;-) 2/ I inserted minipages to end up with the desired format (i.e. I wanted my Education background to be next to the Education mark). However, Lyx doesn't cut the minipages so that my resume is 3-page long while it could only be 2 pages. If you view the DVI, you will see that there is a huge space left between my Appointments box and my Professional Experience box. It would look better if, let's say, the first line of the Professional Experience was on the first page rather than the second. How can I go around that problem? Shall I not use minipages? Thanks a lot to all and to the developers for doing a great software! :-) Mathieu -- Mathieu Richaud Graduate Student Dept. of Geology Northern Illinois University DeKalb, IL 60115 [EMAIL PROTECTED] #LyX 1.3 created this file. problem with minipages...
Shall I not use minipages? figure position...
Hello all, I am sorry for such a dumb question but how can I force Lyx to 1) put 2 figures side by side? I am writing a proposal and I am limited by the number of pages I can send... Thus, I would like to have figures side by side. How it looks is important but space is even more! Also, my caption is always larger than my figure so 2) how can tell Lyx to constrain the text body to the width of my figure? I tried to play with the clipping tool for 2 hours almost but I can't figure it out (I really feel ashamed and I bet I should be)! Thanks and happy easter to everybody from DeKalb, IL, Mathieu
