This is only possible with the new version, the one on cvs. I expect a pre-release
to be available soon (this should be announced very soon).
Then I will send you the instructions how to do it.
The autodetection code will work, for the next pre-release. I already have the code

Look for the patch man page. Generally you change the directory to the place where
you want to apply the patch, and then:
cat /path_to_patch/patch | patch -p1
