or at least the line
where something is detected as wrong. And in that line biber found a comma
but expected a number or name to read ...

btw: do not attached the biblatex-spbasic, it is already part of
TeXLive and MiKTeX.

But I am guessing that you have already set the options "No frames around links" and "Color links" (Document > Settings... > PDF Properties). In that case you can add to the "Additional Options" (same place): linkcolor=black. Note that this will only change the color not the functionality. Heureka!
How stupid I missed it. Adding the key solved things, and now the pdf of
the book to which the bibliography belongs is also outputted.
Would be nice to know how one could find out from the log file whats wrong.

Wolfgang,
what I referred to is called the "Popup menu", "Blue menu" is
misleading, sorry. How to get it:
Tools -> Settings -> Edit -> Autocompletion, set "Automatic popup" and
Autocompletion in math mode true.
When done typing \ce in math mode spit out all commands beginning with
\ce, in my configuration \ce, \cent and \centerdot.

The key is that the command \normalfont has to be flagged as LaTeX code (aka ERT). Otherwise LyX translates "\" to "\textbackslash". To get the modified version, I just selected the \normalfont command and hit ctrl+L.
