ripping audio books
hi all i used audio book builder to rip a cd audio book comprising five cc's. for the format i used mp3 yet i have ended up with a complete iTunes m4b audio book not five discs of cd's in mp3 format for use on a pocket player not an iPad. so is their a program i can get to simply rip an audio book in to mp3 and leave it as this format if i wish? or, use the program to make an optional iTunes file if i wish? --- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net --- To reply to this post, please address your message to mac-access@mac-access.net You can find an archive of all messages postedto the Mac-Access forum at either the list's own dedicated web archive: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/mac-access/index.html or at the public Mail Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/. Re: Shortcut key for page up
Hello Margaret, The VO command for Page up or Page down is VO-FN-Up arrow or down arrow. You must be interacting with the text for this to work and you need to have TextEdit set to Wrap to page. Unfortunately, with Wrap to page set, the normal arrow keys without the VO keys no longer work after the first page of a document. You can still navigate using the VO keys and all the VO navigation commands which you can find by pressing VO-h-h and looking in the Navigation and Text menus. Hello Chris, You can set TextEdit to Wrap to window and all the normal arrow keys work, or you can use the VO keys, so VO-Down Arrow will read the next line, or you can use Quick Nav and set it to Line. With Wrap to page set, the VO commands for next sentence, next Paragraph, and so on work just fine. Voiceover Not Starting Automatically on My Sister's MBA
Hi everybody. I spent the night at my parents’ house in part to help a sister out with her Mac Book Air. Last night I updated her Mac to Os 10.9.1, which seems to have gone smoothly. However, Voiceover will not start automatically for her. I tried going into System Preferences and changing some of the Accessibility settings, but still no dice. Command-F5 works like it should though. Is there something else we should be looking for? She has an 11-inch model. I don't have Mavericks but I believe that there is now an option in system preferences to start Voiceover at the Login screen if there is a guest account also enabled. You need to apparently have this checked in order to have Voiceover running at any login screen. I cannot give precise instructions as I am not on Mavericks as My iMac keeps on getting an unexpected quit of program every time I try to run the install. Well, are you making sure when you shutdown, or reboot, either way, that Voiceover is enabled when you do so? If you don't have voiceover enabled when you shutdown or restart, then it won't come up automatically when the system comes back up. Just being sure that you're aware of this. Re: Voiceover Not Starting Automatically on My Sister's MBA
Aa, yes! I was confused. I thought what he meant was once he actually got logged on to the system, it wasn't coming up. Now I see what he's asking. My bad. So yes. you're correct. Go under system prefs to users. In here, interact with the table and below all the users, you should see an option that says something to the effect of login options, I think. Under here, there is a checkbox to get voiceover to speak at the logon screen. Keep in mind though, that once logged in, if voiceover wasn't running the last time you logged out of the account, then though it's running at the logon screen, once you log into an account which previously had VO shut off, when you log in again, it'll still be off until you do your command+F5. The way around this is to be sure that VO is running when you log out. Re: Shortcut key for page up
Hello Chris, With Wrap to Page set, the text is displayed one page at a time with a fixed width and height. You can look in TextEdit preferences to see how many characters wide a page is, and how many lines long. If you press Cmd-Shift-p, you can see which paper size is being used. Wrap to window allows the displayed text to be as wide as the window and the text scrolls down as you go through it. This is probably why Page down and page up don’t work when wrap to window is set. foot notes and the pages app
Hey to all. i can't remember if I asked this but it turns out I do need to use foot notes and or end notes for my paper as I'm using the terabian style of writing. is doing this accessible and with out too much hassle in pages if m using the foot notes or end notes depending on what my instructor wants? I'm thinking he might want end notes but I'm asking in both cases just in case. Take care and be blessed.
