ripping audio books

2014-02-15 Thread William Lomas
hi all i used audio book builder to rip a cd audio book comprising five cc's.
for the format i used mp3 yet i have ended up with a complete iTunes m4b audio
book not five discs of cd's in mp3 format for use on a pocket player not an
iPad.
so is their a program i can get to simply rip an audio book in to mp3 and leave
it as this format if i wish?
or, use the program to make an optional iTunes file if i wish?

Re: Shortcut key for page up

2014-02-15 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Margaret,

The VO command for Page up or Page down is VO-FN-Up arrow or down arrow. You
must be interacting with the text for this to work and you need to have
TextEdit set to Wrap to page. Unfortunately, with Wrap to page set, the normal
arrow keys without the VO keys no longer work after the first page of a
document. You can still navigate using the VO keys and all the VO navigation
commands which you can find by pressing VO-h-h and looking in the Navigation
and Text menus.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Shortcut key for page up

2014-02-15 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Chris,

You can set TextEdit to Wrap to window and all the normal arrow keys work, or
you can use the VO keys, so VO-Down Arrow will read the next line, or you can
use Quick Nav and set it to Line.

With Wrap to page set, the VO commands for next sentence, next Paragraph, and
so on work just fine. Selecting text requires you to use the VO command
VO-Return at the beginning of the selection and the same command at the end.

Changing between Wrap to page and Wrap to window is quick anyway, it’s just
Cmd-Shift-w.

Cheers,

Anne

Voiceover Not Starting Automatically on My Sister's MBA

Aa, yes! I was confused. I thought what he meant was once he actually got
logged on to the system, it wasn't coming up. Now I see what he's asking.
My bad. So yes. you're correct. Go under system prefs to users. In here,
interact with the table and below all the users, you should see an option
that says something to the effect of login options, I think. Under here,
there is a checkbox to get voiceover to speak at the logon screen. Keep in
mind though, that once logged in, if voiceover wasn't running the last time
you logged out of the account, then though it's running at the logon screen,
once you log into an account which previously had VO shut off, when you log
in again, it'll still be off until you do your command+F5. The way around
this is to be sure that VO is running when you log out.

Re: Shortcut key for page up

2014-02-15 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Chris,

With Wrap to Page set, the text is displayed one page at a time with a fixed
width and height. You can look in TextEdit preferences to see how many
characters wide a page is, and how many lines long. If you press Cmd-Shift-p,
you can see which paper size is being used.

Wrap to window allows the displayed text to be as wide as the window and the
text scrolls down as you go through it. This is probably why Page down and page
up don’t work when wrap to window is set.

Cheers,

Anne

OK, I thought wrap to window was basically the same as saying wrap to page.
So, I am confused. what do these two options basically do both from a
Voiceover standpoint, as well as from a visual standpoint? And what are
their differences? Sorry for the ignorance. LOL!

 Chris.

 Cheers,

 Anne

foot notes and the pages app

2014-02-15 Thread Sarah k Alawami
Hey to all. i can't remember if I asked this but it turns out I do need to use
foot notes and or end notes for my paper as I'm using the terabian style of
writing. is doing this accessible and with out too much hassle in pages if m
using the foot notes or end notes depending on what my instructor wants? I'm
thinking he might want end notes but I'm asking in both cases just in case.

Take care and be blessed.

Check in Finder under the Apple menu is About this Mac. That will give you the
version number of the OS.
