Re: [Mac-access]: Problems with touchID on iPhone 5S
Heck, if you have young kids who'd need it, don't even waist your time buying the electronic wipes... even just a standard baby wipe will do the trick. Just, if you use one, make sure you only do it on your finger. Don't do it on the home button itself. Especially not if the type you're using has lotion or aloe etc. in it, as that most likely will make it worse. That shouldn't most likely be the case. It doesn't take much to scan it. Are you using the pad of your finger or your finger tip? If your finger tip, then there's you're problem right there. [Mac-access]: Some Apple news
Hi all, some Apple news. Some products will be purchased in the future which dad has allowed me to consider. The first is an Apple TV which is a small media streaming box that is connected to your TV and allows you to stream anything from media stored in iTunes either for PC or Mac to TV shows and movies either purchased from the iTunes Store or streamed from a service like Netflix which as of yesterday is now providing audio description. The device costs £99.00 UK but extra charges may apply especially if you subscribe to services like Netflix which is £6.00/month UK. The second product to be considered is the Apple Watch. Dad is hinting I can do allsorts from my writs without getting my phone out of my pocket. But like I told him it is only compatible with the iPhone 5 and later so this will definitely be a future purchase whereas the Apple TV is a near future purchase. He sounds really excited that they both talk. If anyone has an Apple TV please tell me what you think of it. Thank you in advance! Both products were discussed during our pints this afternoon. --- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net --- To reply to this post, please address your message to mac-access@mac-access.net You can find an archive of all messages postedto the Mac-Access forum at the list's public Mail Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/. Sorry it is not helping. I don’t know how to help, sorry. I’m having an issue with FB so that I can’t read comments or share or a half dozen other things and this upgrade did not help nor did the FB upgrade. Apple says it’s a VO problem on FB’s end. Hi, As a follow up on the Apple TV and NetFlicks, can anyone confirm its availability in Canada…. David Woodbridge did a great tutorial on AppleVis today and I followed it through. Sadly—unless I missed a step in his instructions, I have the feeling that Canada is not making audio descriptions available…. Would, as I say, really want to confirm this. Re: [Mac-access]: Some Apple news
The current AppleTV model has been out for a few years, and a new one is expected to be released in late June or early July. No doubt, it will be more expensive, but it may have features that you can't live without, or make the current model drop even more. I love my AppleTV, and have it connected via an optical cable to my stereo system. It is easy to use it with its remote or via the iPhone. There is no reason to have it connected to a television, if you cannot see the screen. VoiceOver is on by default, but, is difficult to turn on, if it is turned off at the beginning. At least, without sight, it is difficult to get it back, if it is bypassed at the beginning. [Mac-access]: Touch ID was: Re: IOS BT keyboards was re:: Iphone 5 or 4S
You don't have to set it up, but, it is certainly easier than typing in passcode and/or password. It is pretty easy to set up, and it is normal for it to ask you to reposition your finger during setup. It wants an image of various ways you may touch the home button. You can set up to 5 fingerprints, and edit the names of each. Re: [Mac-access]: IOS BT keyboards was re:: Iphone 5 or 4S
If you are asking about the Apple BT keyboard, it is the top rightmost key. It toggles between the virtual keyboard on/off. The key location is different on some other BT keyboards. On the Amazon Basics keyboard, it is the key to the left of the rightmost key on the top row.Diane Bomar Sent from my iPhone On Apr 14, 2015, at 23:51, Eleanor burke eleanormarthabu...@gmail.com wrote: where is the key that turns on and off the virtual keyboard on the bluetooth keyboard for use with the iphone? Re: [Mac-access]: reliable braille translation software.
This depends on how much work you want to do when formatting your output. nfbtrans does what I need quite nicely, and I've never used anything else for my braille translation needs, and I've used it on dos, linux, osx, and even compiled a version for bsd (although I never used it). It's not as automatic as something like duxbury, but if you're willing to spend the time to do your own formatting, it can easily be used for commercial quality production. And, the fact that it's free doesn't hurt either. On Apr 14, 2015, at 10:04 AM, Jim Noseworthy wrote: Hi Folks: Is there a good relyable Braille translation software package out there for the mac? Re: [Mac-access]: Apple Watch: the definitive review
from reading this i am shocked apple have the nerve to expect people to pay a starting price of 349 dollars for a product which is rubbish in terms of performance?and who keeps buying a watch every year?people are not going to have the money to spend 350 minimM every time a watch comes out, and it has taken them 3 years?and it seems (and i know is a first-gen model) that it is so clunky. Re: [Mac-access]: IOS BT keyboards was re:: Iphone 5 or 4S
thank you so much for all that info it has been a great help. Talking about the fingertip touch ID on iPhone 5s is it possible to turn that feature off so you can just use the Home button as in the older phones. Judy On 14 Apr 2015, at 23:24, Diane Bomare bomon...@earthlink.net wrote: I have the Amazon Basics keyboard, and an Apple bluetooth keyboard. Here are advantages of each. Amazon Keyboard : less expensive; on/off switch separate button for pairing; smaller than Apple keyboard, so keys are smaller and there is not a vertical T for arrow keys; Most of the keys are the same size; Up/down arrow keys are sandwiched between left/right arrow keys; Uses AAA batteries; Made of plastic; Apple bluetooth keyboard Aluminum; Nice spacing between keys Inverted T for arrow keys Good responsiveness Difficult to know when keyboard is turned off, after using; Toggle button to turn keyboard on/off is flush with one end of the back of keyboard. It has to be pushed in for several seconds, to toggle on/off. There is no tactile/audio feedback to know when this status changes. Tapping a key will let you know if it is still on, but I have had times when I thought it was off, then try to use the virtual keyboard from another room, and it won't come up because the BT keyboard is still on. The Amazon keyboard has a slide switch on the bottom, abd ut us easy to know if it is on or off. Both keyboards have a key to turn the virtual keyboard on and off, in case you want to use both of them. The batteries last a long time in each, and are easily replaced. Both keyboards have the apostrophe/double quote key to the right of the simicolon/colon key. Each have function, control, option, command keys, in that order to the left of the space bar. To the right are the command and option keys. I prefer typing on the Apple keyboard, because of its responsivemess, but it probably isn't worth the difference in price. Regarding the phone choice, I would suggest that you get a 5s, rather than a 5. It is a 64-bit phone with the touch ID feature, a faster processor, and will support future versions of IOS longer than an iPhone 5.
