iPhone 4s updating software

2013-10-24 Thread Patricia Taylor

Hi folks,
What happned to me being visually impaired , when a moment lack of thought I
pressed a download on my 4s iPhone I found I was unabled to use my 4s iPhone
.The new software was extremely difficult to see the colour system, together
with the icons.. My dearest husband was unable to help as he put's it he is not
only visual impairment but a Luddite as far as computers and iPhones are
areconcerned. I did try to get some kind of help with the helpline through my
added care assistances package. unfortunately they were unable to assist me
over the phone. So I did a roundtrip of 100 miles to the nearest Apple shop.We
spent over 4 hours there !. Because the only way they were able to help was
,and make it easier for me to see icons. was to givmeme brand new 4s iphone
with old 6's software all ready on it . It tock hours downloading all the
relevant information apps, and plus over 400 photographs. What a way to spend
,ones birthday! The young lady that helped me, she kindly sent
my comments,to Apple in the hopes of some kind of notice informing people that
may be new to downloading software that cannot be reversed before any one eles
has to go through same experience as I did .I do hope helps others

 Hi Esther,
Many thanks for your prompt reply. Yes I originally thought that system
preferences would help me but on Mountain Lion I do not see any preference
panes related to spaces. I thought spaces might be3 a subset of mission
control or doc or desktop but alas no. Any ideas on what might have happened
to the prefrence pane for spaces in Mountain Lion?

Is it possible that the default for Mountain Lion is to have two spaces each
with its own desktop? This configuration seems to survive system restarts so
maybe I cannot do anything about it?
I will go look at cocktail to see if that has anything in it related to
 spaces.
 Best regards

 Hi Paul,

From memory, under System Preferences go to Exposé Spaces, then select
the Spaces tab. There should be a check boxes for enabling spaces and
also shortcut key assignments. I think I unchecked the options to enable
spaces and set all the shortcut keys to -. Not sure this is exact for
Mountain Lion, but I typically always disable the Exposé shortcuts, too.

exit to dashboard, exit to desktop 1 and exit to desktop 2. If this

How might they have been created and how can I get rid of them?

 HI All,

Just noticed that it might have been confusing to use the ---begin
script--- line to separate off the AppleScript for batch converting rtf and
doc files to text. There are only five lines to the AppleScript code. And I
probably should have added some comment lines to the beginning.

Usage: Run the script and select the folder containing your file in the
dialog window. The program will create text versions of these files in that
folder with the same name and .txt extension.
