Re: copying text on an iPhone

2012-08-09 Thread Geoff Waaler
Hi Glenn,

Perhaps I'm not understanding your question. Assuming that the desired page is
open in Safari on your IOS device, the procedure for placing an icon on the
home screen is to double tap the utility button which is located on the
bottom of the Safari window near the center. From the resulting dialog, one of
the available buttons is labeled: add to home screen.
Should you ever desire to copy the URL, you would have several options. From
your email or text message, navigate to the link, and use the pass through
gesture (double tap and hold). When you here the triple bonk noise, you can
right flick to options such as copy. If the item is launched in Safari:
1. Navigate to the URL.
2. Double tap to edit.
3. Use the roter gesture to select edit.
4. Flick down to select all (I think select yields the identical result).
5. Select copy. .

HTH.

Subject: copying text on an iPhone

  Hi,
I have a rather lengthy link to a web site, so I sent the link from my
computer's eMail to my phone via text.
I can go to my messages on my iPhone, and tap on the link and it opens the
page, but I want to make a link on my home screen for it, so I select it by
spreading my fingers on the text, and that selects it.
The thing is, I cannot figure out how to copy the link after I select it.
  Thanks for any help.

Hi Jeff,
The flaw in your directions is that if I double-tap a link, it opens safari
to that page.
The link is in a text, and I want to copy it, and paste it into a facebook
app.
I once got the edit option in the rotor list, but when I double-tapped it,
it just went away.

Hi Glenn,

At risk of being redundant, allow me to requote this passage from my initial
post:

Quote:
From your email or text message, navigate to the link, and use the pass
through gesture (double tap and hold). When you here the triple bonk noise,
you can right flick to options such as copy.
Unquote

Please reread carefully and let me know if anything is unclear or is not
working as expected at your end.

Best regards.
