MacGroup: Change PDF file

2006-06-14 Thread Profile
Folks,

Is there a program out there that will allow a PDF file to be loaded,
corrected and then saved in the PDF format? I typed in several
different searches in Version Tracker and couldn't find anything,
Google indicates there are programs that fit this bill, but once you
add Mac to the search I didn't readily see what I needed.

Many thanks,

John R.

If the pdf was saved with Illustrator editing preserved, you can open it in
Illustrator (I'd recommend CS or CS2), edit elements and re-save as pdf.
CS2 is nice in that it gives you several presets for PDF saving.

Preview will let you resave the document in a number of graphic formats.
Save it as a tiff, use your favorite image editor on it then use Preview to
resave it as a pdf file.

Photoshop 7 will open pdf files (maybe 6 also).

The full version of Acrobat (Acrobat Standard and above, I believe)
allows it, within the limitations of the layout (text changes work
best). Prices to download from the Adobe site start at $299 ($99 for
upgrade), but there is a free demo of Acrobat Professional at http://
www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.jsp#product=1.

However, there are options within Acrobat to save documents as read-
only, so edit functions may not always work.

I just looked at the download page and apparently the demo is only
available for Windows. Sorry.

John, haven't had time to play around with a recent download, but you
can check out the information below to see if it might be of help.
PDFLab can be downloaded from VersionTracker. rag
?
