Choose the Applications tab and choose the app from the list. Then head over to the configure button. Once there, select the Notifications tab. You'll find a drop-down list of all the possible event types. Select the one you want to configure and customise it to your liking. If you're still having trouble with this, feel free to Skype us. Re: weird problem with airport extreme
Mary, SOunds like your cable modem is not in bridge mode. You might want to check with the cable company and see how you put the modem back into bridge mode. This Apple Wi-Fi base station has a private IP address on its Ethernet WAN port. It is connected to a device or network that is using Network Address Translation (NAT) to provide private IP addresses. You should change your Apple Wi-Fi base station from using DHCP and NAT to bridge mode. I'm using a cable modem which, to the best of my knowledge, should not be set up as is being recommended by the airport utility. How in heaven's name would an airport extreme get a private ip address on its input? I'm reluctant to make the recommended change for fear of screwing something up. boiceover since last update.. grrrr
ok, this is getting frustrating. it seems that voiceover is crashing on me every time I turn around. all this started happening since the 10.6.7 update. it wasn't so bad until 4 days ago and now it happens every time I use app switcher, type in e-mail and chat on Skype. I have parused the system logs trying to find a cause, but nothing shows up. I have also run the usual disk utility permission checks with nothing found. to top it off, this machine is borrowed until I can acquire a new laptop or mac mini. my last machine smoked the power supply and a g od chunk of the motherboard. good thing for time machine. Newsrack on the Mac
I have started using Newsrack on the Mac and one issue I have encountered is when reading the content within an article, VoiceOver will sometimes tell me in the middle of the content, html dimmed. In other words it seems the content is refreshing and VOiceOver is caught in the middle of the refresh. So, has anyone experienced this and if so, how did you deal with it? Also, has anyone used Feeddler Pro on the iOS platform and also used Newsrack? I was just curious what you liked about either one vs the other. Contacting FileMaker About Accessability
Hi folks. I'm a lawyer in Virginia. Colleagues have suggested that I use a program called FileMaker Pro to create databases. FileMaker is put out by the same company that produces Bento, a less powerful database program They seem to be a subsidiary of Apple. When I downloaded the trial version of FileMaker Pro, I found that it was mostly accessible. The only areas I could not read with Voiceover were the menu bar, if there is one, and the scroll area where all the data fields and their contents are displayed. This last, of course, is the main reason for buying the program. Until this scroll area is readable with Voiceover, there is no point in buying the program. I have contacted the company to suggest that they make Bento and FileMaker Pro fully accessible. I would appreciate it if members of this list would chime in support. Here is the URL to visit. http://www.filemaker.com/company/contact/feature_request.html There is a form to fill out. I had no trouble. Thank you for your support. P.S. If there is another database program I should be looking at, please let me know. Onward! Rob Munro Attorney at Law r.g.mu...@gmail.com smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature
Facebook and clients
Ever since facebook has screwed up my life by taking away links and putting stupid pictures in there place I've been miffed. On the up side they also include a sream for google and twitter. Pretty neat huh? Does anyone have an email address I can write to facebook regarding the new pages/ I hate it that I can't just stick to status updates on the mobile feed because, to be quite honest I don't care who x has made friends with or that they've checked into y. Adding iPhone to existing contacts
Hello. I noticed that iPhone was an editable label for all fields in a new contact created on the iPhone. Before my use of an iPhone, I used a Windows mobile phone, coupled with an exchange account for e-mail calendars and contacts. Bus, all my contacts were either created on my previous windows mobile phone or on a PC. I have several friends in MyContacts That currently have an iPhone. However, when I edit these contacts on my iPhone, I cannot find an iPhone field. When I double tap the button to change the phone number type, I cannot find iPhone in the list of options presented. There also doesn't appear to be an option to add an additional number. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Re: strange result when running a repair disk permissions, anyone no what it means?
Hi all! I've just done a disc repair! And got the same warning! Word for word! Remembering these posts I'm not worried but thought you might like to know! [Or should I worry ] All the best! There are several programs that need to be SUID so that they can have administrative powers on your computer, but any SUID that is not expected should be tracked down to its origin to make sure you do not have a piece of malware on your computer. Especially if the owner of the SUID file is root I am fairly confident this is just a incorrectly registered file that the Macintosh Operating system uses if you enable remote control of your Macintosh in the system preferences. I believe one of the Security updates that has come out this year changed permissions on this file. Are your software updates up to date? The problem is that the drive itself is set to a region, and as you've already seen, they will only officially let you change it 5 times (then you're stuck with it). All is not lost however. Apparently you can use software called Region X to play DVDs, *once* you've managed to make your drive region-free. This last point of course is the sticky one. For the program Region X and some info about deregioning your drive, see http://xvi.rpc1.org/ Sorry, don't know any more than this. Good luck! PDF files
Hello all, I am trying to use Preview to read a multiple-column, pdf file. The problem is that I don't want to read by column. I want to read line-by-line, from the left to the right of the document, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. In other words, I would like for VO to ignore the column formatting, and to treat the document as though it contained only one column. If anyone on this list could give me some insight as to how to do this, I would be most grateful. amadeus pro and editing video
Hi all, Just wanted to share a discovery I made less than half an hour ago. Much to my pleasant surprise, the new update to Amadeus Pro now allows you to edit video files. I was trying and failing to use Imovie. My fiancé uses it, but it is not accessible with VoiceOver. We discovered this when he tried to show me how to use it. I shouldn't say it's not accessible, I should restate. To the best of my knowledge, it is not accessible. I imported a movie which I recorded with QuickTime on some banjo techniques, and was happy to discover I can drop markers and delete markers etc. Just wanted to share this with you. I upgraded to the new version of Amadeus Pro which is 2.0. I hope this helps someone. Have a great day. Re: [Bulk] amadeus pro and editing video
Uh, that may be; however, I am about to rain on your parade, I think. All you can actually edit is the audio portion of the .mov file. You cannot edit the video portion with it. For that, you will need an actual video editor of some kind. Sincerely, The Constantly Barefooted Ray!!! Now a very proud and happy Mac user!!! Re: boiceover since last update.. grrrr
Hi all, I am not sure what folks mean when they say crash. I have noticed that since the 10.6.7 update, I seem to lose speech more often than before. However, VoiceOver is still running, just no speech. You can tell because when you do Command-Tab, you can hear the clicks as you switch applications. Except that no speech is forthcoming. When this happens, you simply press Command-F5 to turn VoiceOver off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. Once VoiceOver is back on, everything is back to normal. The other small issue I noticed is that whenever there is a System Wide Server message, VoiceOver has a hard time focusing on it to read the message. So if I don't catch it the first time it pops up, I lose it. Other than that, everything is normal here. Re: weird problem with airport extreme
I once got this and it was resolved by rebooting the cable modem. If you have COX they won't directly help you fix the problem because they don't support routers. Also you did not perchance change where the ethernet cables are plugged in did you? There is one place that is marked as WAN and it should have the cable modem connected to that port. If you need help send an e-mail directly to me at jonc...@cox.net I probably won't be back on until 8:30 AM Eastern US time.
