Re: Should I choose Airport Extreme?

2012-03-11 Thread Mr. L. Alexander
a wireless printer can be conected to the airport extreme directly. basically
you set up the printer to the router, then mac to printer. you basically add
the printer you're using by printer settings in preferences, adding the printer
through wireless and there you go. simple as that.

I thought I found a solution to my problem, by adding volume partitions
manually and then adjusting the settings respectively. When adding each
partition the size for each partition decreases. For example:
 P1 = 1.00 TB
 P2 = 1.50 TB, and
 P3 = 500.00 GB.

I have a 3TB external SeaGate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you
wish to message me off list anyone can do so. Thanks.

Your windows machine will work fine. I am not sure I understand the purpose of

there will be no difference in how you access it today when you bring the

Im+ Pro

2012-03-11 Thread chris hallsworth
I purchased Im+ Pro last night after having spare credit in my iTunes
account, and so far I like it a lot. We are at version 6.x now, so don't
know what has improved since 4.x or 5.x. But on the whole, the app runs
excellent on both my iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4, both running iOS 5.1. No
lagging whatsoever. Haven't tried the voice features yet, but will
report back if it still crashes. I also haven't tried navigating the
text fields in the chat window, but will again report back if I see any
problems. Overall I love this app and would highly recommend it if you
fancy chatting on the go. Doesn't seem to drain the battery all that
much, however I don't have the app running all the time; I rely on the
push notifications instead

Growl doesn't want to growl

2012-03-11 Thread Jean-Claude Provost
Hi all,

I'm taking a 2nd stab at this to no avail. I removed the Growl.app file,
re-installed it from the AppStore, restarted my IMac, in spite of all that,
Growl is still useless. That is, When I open it, it opens in the setting
window but, when I reach for the Apps tab from the toolbar, there are no
applications in the table. I'm running Lion with Apple's latest updates.

Are there other Growl-related files other than Growl.app? Maybe I should have
removed them when uninstalling.

For now, this thing is useless , given that others made it work, I don't
understand why it wouldn't work here as well.

Any musings would be appreciated as I'm getting to the point I feel like
growling or even biting:-)

Cheers from Varennes, Qc Canada.

Re: Should I choose Airport Extreme?

2012-03-11 Thread Traci
*Grin,* maybe we are making the printer more complicated than necessary.

All I know, is there is a little screen on the printer and we need to enter the
info for our wireless network, so all of our devices will work. It's cool,
that our printer does not need to be connected to any device or router. It has
a USB cord, but it isn't needed.

I'm guessing, if I'm using a wireless printer, then Bonjour printer for windows
will not be necessary? From reading on the web, it seems that is where windows
users were having trouble.

I guess, one of my last questions, for you Mac folk in the know, do you suspect
Apple will bring out a new Airport Extreme soon? As in the next few Months? ;)

Hi guys
My brow wanted to ground too much. I finally had to uninstall it. Or rather, I

interrupting voiceover. When I went for a cat genius For appointment earlier

Siri on voiceover

2012-03-11 Thread Gigi
 Hi guys
Is anybody having trouble when you press the home key or the your phone center
key with Siri crashing? I don't seem to have a problem if I turn voiceover off,
but if I don't turn voiceover off, I sometimes have this problem. I thought
this had been changed, but it happened to me this morning. I had to turn Siri
off and then turn Siri back on again.

Using JAWS and the Focus Braille Display with Windows 7 and VMWare Fusion

2012-03-11 Thread Paul Hunt
Hello everyone. Although I do most of my work on the MAC OS Lion 10.7.2 OS, I
sometimes work in Windows for professional Reasons. I just finished developing
some training material for JAWS and the Focus Braille Display. When I plug the
focus in and connect it to VMWare Fusion and attempt to load JAWS with the
Braille display connected, I get the message that JAWS cannot load the driver.
Of course, Freedom Scientific Technical support is of absolutely no help since
I'm running JAWS in a Virtual Machine. Have any of you tried this and have
gotten it to work? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks so much.

problem typing Chinese after 10.7.3 update

2012-03-11 Thread Shen
Hi,
Wondering if anyone using Chinese is having the same problem I am having.
After the 10.7.3 Lion update, I can no longer type in Chinese Traditional
Pin-Yin. It used to be that when you start typing, a list will popup letting
you choose the correct character. When you are in this list, you use up or down
arrow keys to scroll through the list. When you find the correct character,
press the space bar to select it. You will then be back in your document to
continue typing.
With the new update, I start typing, the list pops up, I can arrow up or down,
but the space bar no longer selects the list. Return doesn't work either.
And here's the kicker. If you move away from the popup list, you will not be
able to go back to it. The Chinese Traditional window will be on your screen,
and you can find it with the Application Chooser, but you will not be able to
focus on it.
Anyone having this issue or not?

XCode

2012-03-11 Thread Brandon Olivares
Hi,

I'm trying to find a good editor for PHP programming, HTML, CSS, etc. Dashcode
seems to not support PHP very well. I was looking at XCode, but was wondering
about its accessibility. I searched for this in the group but didn't find much.

The problem I'm having is that when I start typing a keyword, it pops up
suggestions, but if I press anything else, it takes me a good page of code
above where I was, if not more. So it doesn't seem to be working very well.

Do you know of any other good editors for PHP? I'm not having very good success
with this.

Thanks,
Brandon

RE: Quick VMware question

2012-03-11 Thread Bill Holton
Hi.

Thanks for the help. I must be missing something though. Currently I am
using a PC keyboard on my Mac, and I used the Mac's keyboard layout to swap
the two keys on my PC keyboard so that the alt key is the Mac command key
and the PC Windows key is the Mac's Option Key. I can't seem to find the
right combinations to change these back to their proper PC usage during a VM
ware session so that what is now the Mac's Option key becomes the Windows
Key and what is now the Mac's command key turns into the Alt Key. No matter
how I try to remap them I keep coming back with the PC's alt key calling up
the Windows Menu and the Windows Key F combination calling up the file menu.

I have tried remapping several ways, and also restarted the VM machine after
resetting. Any further help would be greatly appreciated.
