Hi all. As now the beta program has changed its policy being more opened to all, is it still forbidden to talk about the new features regarding the accessibility, or not? Thanks. Want to install MS Word or Office365 on my Mac - help needed please?!
Hi all Wonder if anyone can help me. I'm looking to install Ofice365 or MS Word onto my Mac. I already use MS Word on my IPhone and IPad, and it's getting better and better, so now I'd like to try and get it on to my Mac too. I also already have an Office365 account because of my IPad and IPhone. However, when I do a search in the Mac app store it brings up a load of results and I've no idea what's best to go for? So if anyone's already running Word or Office365 on their Mac would be most grateful if you could tell me exactly what I need to look for in the app store etc. Many thanks for any help, and sorry for the seemingly stupid question, but the app store has completely confused me!! I have the option enabled on all devices, Bluetooth is enabled, everything on same wi-fi network, all signed into the same iCloud account. When I'm writing mail on Mac for example, I don't see a Continuity icon on iPhone's App Switcher even though both devices are enabled. Any suggestions? I've tried logging out and into iCloud and resetting devices but nothing. Another issue I have is with Text Message Forwarding: on iPhone under Settings Messages Text Message Forwarding, it's only showing 1 Mac when I have two Macs set up. I have all devices set up to use my phone number and Apple ID, but only the most recent device to login to iMessage is shown. So if I disable a Mac's iMessage account then re-enable, that device only shows and same with the other Mac. Apple support have been useless. Any suggestions or fixes would be hugely appreciated. -Shaf -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Re: web-based text editors and VoiceOver
This sound like a comms issue between Voice-over, the API and the browser. I assume you are using safari. The question is safari sending the information to Voice-over from this open source editor? If not, then that is the issue. I mention this because you are entering information into the editor then the editor should pass this to Safari for rendering and Safari should pass it to voice-Over. At least that is how I see the flow should go. I can’t direct you to a website that uses CKEditor because the site I use is a private area. Re: Pairing Braille Sense Plus
Hello, First, put your Braille Sense Plus in terminal for screen reader mode by doing the following: Go to the utilities menu by pressing u from the main menu, and press S for terminal for screen reader. You'll be presented with a list of options, choose bluetooth serial port and press enter. The unit will say connecting... and eventually, terminal mode. Now, you're ready to go to your phone. Go to settingsgeneralaccessibilityvoiceoverbraille and scroll to the bottom of the screen where it will say choose a braille display. You should see Braille Sense Plus not paired, at this point, double-tap on this, and in a couple seconds, you'll be presented with a text field, in which you can type in 4 digits for the pin code. They can be any 4 you want, and when you press the pair button in the right-hand corner of your screen, the message pin code: should appear on your Braille Sense's display. Enter in the same digits you put in on your phone without any number sign, and in nemeth braille code. Press dot 8, (enter), and in a second or 2, your unit and your phone should pair successfully. Are you sure you've enabled your email address? In both FaceTime and iMessage settings, there's a place that says something like enable [FaceTime/iMessages] for and then lists your registered email addresses and phone numbers. You may have those disabled? You should also change the start conversations from setting to an email address--it might still be set to your phone number. Re: how to install the el capitan
Shaf's just being himself as usual. What exactly are you having an issue with, as far as installing things? Regardless what Shaf and others think/say privately or publicly, I am one of the ones who will! stick by the terms, like it or not, think it pointless or not, so therefore, though it doesn't mean I technically can't! go into things, I refuse to. This being however said, I do agree with you. Just outlining the steps to get it installed isn't anything I can't discuss, that I know of. It's not like I'm telling you any bugs, nor anything about the oS itself. That, you'd have to read up on and find out yourself. It's just part of testing. What I will! say is this, I, myself, have not seen any problems that are so severe that it prevents me entirely from using I O S 9, or OSX Capitan. That said, it is? beta software, so what works for one person might work differently for someone else. It's like Apple says, you install it at your own risk. I'm happy though to talk you through the steps to at least get it downloaded. How are you doing this? Are you trying to get it under the public beta, or are you trying to come in as a developer instead? Basically, at what point are you getting stuck? improvements in eclipse accessibility
Hello All, I just downloaded the eclipse side version 4.5, mars. and was rather supervised when I saw that now the editor area is now accessible. This makes the ride usable now. I am still trying to figure out how to get autocorrection working. There is an issue when you type something like ‘System.’ and when you hit the period the autocorrect kicks in. usually one just uses down/up arrows to view the different classes and such. This is the case, but when you move through the list of classes/methods/properties etc, it automatically placeless you in the html viewer window to read the details of what that particular selected item does, and how it does what it does. usually you hit the tab key to get to that help info when browsing the list if one needs more info on a particular item. But this is really great news for those of you that use it. If anyone has any info, I’d love to hear it to fix the issue I’m having, or any other tips/tricks. Sorry if this has already been suggested, I've not been following this thread too closely. Problem making iPhone calls with Facetime.
Afternoon everyone. Please can someone help me out. I’m trying to use FaceTime on my Macbook pro to make iPhone calls. I have setup my iPhone by making sure seluar calls is turned on, this is also enabled in FaceTime on my Macbook. Every time I try to do this though, I’m getting a very strange message. “iPhone calls not available.” Image. “Your iPhone must use the same iCloud and FaceTime account.” My iPhone and Macbook Pro are both signed into my Apple ID and I am unable to find a reason why it won’t work. They are also connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Please any help would be appreciated. I want to use my Macbook because its got a longer battery life. I have even double checked today and in messages on both my iPhone and Macbook, the start new conversations from part says my E-mail address, garypric...@icloud.com. Re: iOS 9 public beta to be released today – MacDailyNews - Welcome Home
Hi, I’m going to post an answer from the FAQ page of the beta software program site, since there seems to be some confusion. Is the Apple Beta Software program confidential? Yes, the public beta software is Apple confidential information. Don’t install the public beta software on any systems you don't directly control or that you share with others. Don’t blog, post screen shots, tweet, or publicly post information about the public beta software, and don't discuss the public beta software with or demonstrate it to others who are not in the Apple Beta Software Program. If Apple has publicly disclosed technical information about the public beta software, it is no longer considered confidential. On Jul 10, 2015, at 6:40 AM, Devin Prater d.pra...@me.com wrote: Yep. Re: Continuity just doesn't work
Hi, Not that this helps your situation at all, but the inability to convince Apple that Continuity is broken is likely due to the fact that it isn't. Text forwarding and Continuity calling works flawlessly for me. Even at work when I have my MBP plugged into ethernet, iPhone connected to enterprise WiFi, I could be off in a different part of the building with each unit connected to different network closets, and continuity calling works perfect. I suggest that you disable all the continuity features, then re-enable them one at a time confirming that each works prior to moving on. If it does not apply, then try with a different unit, thus determining where the issues may be. Later... Re: Problem making iPhone calls with Facetime.
Hi Gary iMessages and iPhone mobile calls are totally unrelated. iPhone mobile calls are part of phone call continuity which, by the way, works beautifully and flawlessly on all my devices including my Macbook Pro. Please turn off iPhone mobile calls on your iPhone then turn it back on. Do the same for your Macbook Pro. At my end though, I have start new conversations from my phone number and not my email address. Perhaps these are coincidentally affecting each other even though they are not related. This will definitely resolve an issue where people who start a conversation from your phone number send their messages to you as a text rather than an iMessage. Re: iMac digital output
Hi, The iMac has a combo digital/analog output through the headphone jack similar to the one in the Airport Express. So, as long as you have the adaptor to go from the 3.5 connection to the digital connection, it will work without an issue. These adaptors can be found through Amazon and many other places. You want a 3.5 mm to TOSLink converter which can either just be a small 3 or 4 cm long adapter or can be a cable with those connectors at each end. I found one for about $6 Canadian dollars earlier this year. I think it cost me as much to ship as the silly adaptor. HTH. Later... iOS on the MacVisionaries list
Pasting from my post back in April: This comes up every now and then. Short answer is that the list is what folks make of it. Long answer is that the name is probably a bit of an anachronisim at this point. The list was founded years before iPhone OS became iOS and then became accessible with VoiceOver. So as more and more folks became iOS users the overlap with the existing Mac Voiceover users was an obvious extension. Today we have another shift as folks embrace the latest Apple gadget into the ecosystem and the marketplace of ideas shifts into high gear. We'll find discussions of various scanners, headsets and other devices folks hook up to their machine. A few even venture Jaws questions as more Windows folks come over to the Mac but bring their virtualized windows as a safety net as they come up to speed on voiceover. In some ways the list is self selecting or self limiting. If somebody dives to far into Windows land or goes too far down a rabbit hole nobody will bother to answer and the thread just dies. So for me it's all about Macs and their fun cousins that make the whole family rich and interesting. Not sure we're there yet but Apple's push is for the cloud, rather than the desktop, to be your digital hub. The expectation is the desktop/laptop will fade over time such that continuously connected devices will be our main means of consumption and composition. What do you mean you can't get it to accept the code? Remember there are actually 4 fields. You need to navigate to the first field and start typing the code from there; the cursor will automatically skip to the next field so you don't need to do that manually, but make sure you start at the first field. If you're getting the codes, you're not locked out of your accounts. Re: textDetective versus knfbReader
I had text detective for a few years before KNFB reader became available. I got some useful results with it, but never entire documents such as bank statements. I would get bits of them, but not the whole thing. For me, KNFB Reader is definitely worth the price and eclipses Text Detective completely. KNFB reader is designed with blind people in mind, attempting to correct poor images taken by blind people who obviously can't see what they are trying to capture. I guess it depends on how much OCR on printed documents you are intending to do, but for me KNFB Reader has been worth it. web-based text editors and VoiceOver
There is an open source web text editor app called “CKEditor” that is used by a lot of websites for rich format text input. When focused in CKEditor, VoiceOver gives no spoken feedback when typing.
