Yes, much of the time, depending on weather conditions, large buildings,
overhangs, and meriad other factors. I have seen GPS be accurate within about 3
feet, and I have seen it be off by almost 1.5 miles. I get an average of around
10 to 20 feet. This can give the side of the street with nice, wide roads.
However, it is not consistent enough to place total faith / trust in. Use good
O skills.

Nearby Explorer for iOS User's Guide

Introduction

When sighted people use a global positioning system (GPS), their main interests
are getting directions and/or guidance to a destination. Blind users appreciate
these features as well, but generally desire more orientation queues than are
available on commercial GPS apps. Nearby Explorer is a GPS app designed to
provide these queues. When combined with an accessible interface and
customizable, current information about points of interest (POIs), the tools
provide a meaningful picture of the vicinity and its characteristics.

Nearby Explorer works by:
1.displaying a screen containing several geography-related categories, letting
you turn on the ones of interest (announced as you move). You can put the phone
to sleep and continue receiving feedback or examine the values on the screen.
2.letting you orient the phone in various positions to get more targeted
information about: ◦points of interest (POIs),
◦direction and streets, and
◦the closest point of interest.

3.providing descriptive details such as: ◦intersection configurations as you
approach,
◦transit stop next time, direction of travel, and head sign for systems in over
30 metro areas,
◦distance and adjustable direction to POIs, and
◦adjustable scope for prominence and proximity for POI announcements.

Features

The information that Nearby Explorer provides helps the blind traveler stay
oriented. It shows surrounding and approaching streets, businesses,
institutions, and public facilities, and offers continually updating distance
and directional information to the nearest or selected location.

Nearby Explorer provides a sense of the surrounding streets and their
relationship to the user's current position. Additionally, it enables the
passenger in a vehicle to aid the driver with directions and suggestions.

How do i block e-mails on my Mac from senders who have my iCloud address

2016-08-27 Thread Kevin Gibbs
Subject says it all,

guys,
How do i block e-mails from my Mac and my iPhone using iOS9? I gather that it
is not possible to block e-mails on my phone. If that’s true, that sucks.
but, if there’s a recipe, you guys are sure to know it.

since i don’t read this list, I’d be very appreciative if anyone answering this
note would copy their response to me privately at:
kevj...@me.com

thanks,
Kevin

Re: Urgent difficulty icloud security code

2016-08-27 Thread Rachel Feinberg
The iCloud security code is a security measure that you must have set up
relating to keychain and the info stored there. If you can remember the code,
or get it sent via SMS message, you should be able to get back into your Mac,
or approve the mac if the iPhone is an already trusted device in the keychain.
HTH,
Rachel.

Re: I devices I grill mini

2016-08-27 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Since e I seem to be the only other person on the list who knows anything about
the iGrill, I will spill the rest of my knowledge. J. J. Setoff who always
presents at blindness conferences in North America and is often on the Blind
Bargains podcasts sells the iGrill temperature robes and units at his store I
can't remember the store name, but I do know he is very supportive of our
community and perhaps if you purchased from him, he can provide support. .

Also, I found a PDF version of the warranty online that indicates it is a one
year warranty.

Best wishes,

Jonathan

Re: signatures

2016-08-27 Thread Jonathan Cohn
NO, you have to move following my earlier instructions from the All
Signatures area into the area for the account you want to use the signature in.
show up in the signature pull down.

Again, when you open up edit signatures there will be a table called
signatures. There will be at least two lines in that table. Your signatures
need to show up in the "names" area when a mail account is selected in the
first table.

Take care,

Jonathan

Best wishes,

Jonathan

Re: signatures

2016-08-27 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello I will list the most reliable way I have found to do this.
1. Open mail preferences and switch to the signatures tab.

2. Find the table called signatures this is actually a list of mail accounts.
Select the mailbox you want a signature in and set a hot spot for that mailbox
perhaps hotspot 3 with vo-shift-3. You can verify you have the correct hot spot
by typing vo-command-3 and it will tell you what mmail account u have selected.

3. Move to the top of the table and find the all Signatures item. VO-Home
should do this on El-Captain.

4. Now hit tab and you will be in a table called Names. This should have all
of the signatures you have created. select one or more of these signatures and
mark for drag with vo-comma.
5. Find the command “drop item at chosen hotspot” in the commands list, this is
not bound to any key strokes or commanders by default. so you need to use
commands help vo-H followed by VO-H a second time.

5. Voice over will ask you for a hotspot, give it 3 if you used the keystroke I
provided.

VoiceOver should tell you that it dragged the item(s) to your account.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: How Are "Home Made" Ringtones Installed

2016-08-27 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

As long as they are m4r Ring-tones, you should be able to put them into the
Automatically Add to iTunes folder and they'll be put into the proper location
in iTunes. You could also use the Add to Library item under the File menu
while in iTunes. Once they are imported into iTunes you can transfer them to
the iPhone using the normal process.

hi,

The format should be MacOS Extended (Journaled), although if you got the
message wondering if you'd like it to be used as your Time Machine Backup
drive, then it's likely formatted correctly. Sounds like something is confused
in your OS. Try restarting your Mac and see if things right themselves.

Re: time machine "disc is to small" dialogue

2016-08-27 Thread CHUCK REICHEL
Hi Simon,
I first erased and partitioned the glyph 2 gig as 2 partitions 1 tb and the
second was just about 1 tb.
Thats when things started to time machine whack out!
It said there wasn't enough space on one of those 1 tb partitions.
my mac hd that i'm backing up has 621.04 GB on disk
next i erased it again, and just left it as a 2 tb drive thinking this would
solve the space issue and it still gave me that dialogue.
It did say, do you want to use this disk for time machine I said yes and it
started backing up and then got that error!
I'm not sure if i should search out the plist for time machine and trash it or
what?
this is on my mac pro running snow leopard that this is happening, my el
capitan box is backing up fine?
Thanks again for the help. :)
Chuck

That switch makes sense. On the occasions when I did use those commands, I
remember that the results seemed unpredictable, and that sometimes nothing

 Hi all,
I'm not normally in need of a way to move by page, but I find myself
suddenly trying to figure it out now. VO's help reports that the
command is vo-pageDown, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I'm also
wondering if there's a macOS way, much like vo-right moves by word but
you should use option-right instead. I'm aware of how to make the page
up/down keys on the Mac, I just don't know what to pair them with to
get them to actually move the cursor by page. Thanks in advance.

It is made by Weber. Target and Amazon both sell versions of it. It connects
via Bluetooth to your smart phone where there is an app that is her accessible.

ExpressVPN - The World's Fastest, Most Reliable VPN Provider, Express VPN
receives the best reviews from tech magazines. I have used it and find it
nicely accessible.

Currently I use Free VPN Proxy by BetterNet. It is truly free, and like Express
VPN, allows enough throughput that I am able to watch movies. The problem with
Free VPN Proxy is one is unable to manually set the country server. Instead,
the VPN server access point is determined automatically. This works for apps
like Hulu and Amazon Video where the US is the only option. I am unsure how
well it will work for apps which use multiple countries and adjust content
based on the country (such as NetFlicks). I am switching to NetFlicks when my
Amazon Video subscription ends. At that time, I will probably pay for Express
VPN so I will be able to access the US version of NetFlicks.

I've had the I grill mini for a few months now and it seems to be beginning to

a short time? Where can I get a new probe? I've even forgotten where I bought
the thing.

RE: time machine "disc is to small" dialogue

2016-08-27 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi,

It wont have the space if it hasn’t been partitioned correctly or formatted to
the correct file system.

I would go into disk utilities and re partition the drive either as one or two
2 gives you the option of other drive space for storage rather than backup.

And 2. Make sure the partition is set to mac os journaled
And once that is done the machine should tell you there is a ddrive plugged in
and it shold going by what I’ve had happen ask if you wish to use the drive for
time machine.

Good luck and hope that helps.,

though its not!
The disc i'm using for the time machine back up, is a glyph 2 tb . in size my
mac hd that i'm backing up has 621.04 GB on disk
theres no way a 2 tb drive can't back up a 621.04 GB!

This is happening on my pro tools studio work box which is a mac pro with snow
leopard.
My el capitan box is just fine.
any work arounds?
