No actually if you’re using word and windows, Jaws shows you what text the

Hi all,

So, I've spent most of the day playing around with Word for Mac, and have come
to the conclusion that I prefer Pages. I agree with those who said Word is
very accessible. Microsoft has done a pretty good job with this. But for my
purposes, Pages works better. A major factor in my decision is that, while you
can see changes and comments in Word, you can't tell what text they are linked
to. In Pages on the other hand, this is very clear. Since that is important
for my job, I think Pages will be most useable, and I'll just have to be extra
careful about document fonts.

I just thought I'd post this in case it's of interest to anyone.

My conclusions after a day of messing around with Word

A little hellp getting started with FineReader?

2018-07-28 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

My FineReader install has gone pretty well, but I have a few newbie questions.

Is there a hotkey to initiate a scan? If not, is there any way to set options
so you don't have to go through those two screens of prompts every time you
scan?

I'm also remembering that one thing I hated about ABBYY in Windows was all the
crap that's on the screen following a scan. Lots of stuff about re-shaping,
drawing, and defining the area. Is there any way to make that stuff go bye-bye?
TIA,
Donna

Hi Matthew,
I've gotOnyx on my wife's mac and have never had a problem with it.
What I do is after it checks the drive, I go to the automation tab, check all
the boxes and hit run tasks. It does a pretty good job cleaning up a mac. I do
prefer cocktail myself.

I seem to remember some VM solutions could run other system’s VM packages.
Could it be that Virtual box could run a Fusion created VM? That might be a
quick solution.

Hi Matthew,
I've gotOnyx on my wife's mac and have never had a problem with it.

Pardon me for asking question that has been, i am sure, answered numerous
times on this list; but where can I buy a copy of the MS-Office suite for Mac?

Many Thanks, for your patience as well as answering my question!

Re: High Sierra and automatic language switching

2018-07-28 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

First of all, you need to add languages you wish to use in Voiceover utility.
Open Voiceover utility with vo+f8 key combination and arrow down to voice
category. You will need to make sure that all the languages you wish to use
with Voiceover are added to the list of languagges. Once it’s done, You can
use vo+command+shift+arrow keys to: first, find the Voice category and then
using the same combination of keys pressed down but this time using up and down
arrow, make sure you select automatic language switching. Once you hear
Voiceover say automatic language switching or something similar in the list of
all languages you’ve selected for use, release the keys and automatic language
switching will become your default.

Please note that automatic language switching at present doesn’t work properly
with Greek.

Hope this will help a little.
